I was a walk in yesterday, with a rats nest.
Took a chance, and will tell you that I made a great decision.
1. Shea is excellent. She is young, hip, well put together young professional.
2. Keune products work well in my hair, I love my color. I am growing a short cut out, on month 6. she knew exactly how to help me clean it up without loosing length.
3. the price is right.
Plan on seeing her in may for a full foil.

I purchased a groupon for a keratin blow-​dry and haircut. After she was done she suggested that I pay extra next time because my hair could use a keratin treatment, which is what I thought I was getting. Not only did they simply give me a regular cut, wash and blow dry, when I asked for just a trim she cut off over 5 inches of my hair. I recently donated 15 inches of my hair and have been trying to grow it long again. This «trim» put a hindrance in that. The hairdresser was not the woman that redeemed my groupon at the counter so maybe there was some miscommunication but either way I will not return to this salon.

Finally found my new go to place. Used a groupon great deal! Their regular pricing is affordable too. Went in with mousy brown sad shoulder length hair left with a sassy red bob. Shaylin was my stylist and did a great job I couldn’t be happier. She was very fun to talk to and made me feel comfortable right away.

Just went here today for the first time! I found a groupon for it, so I decided to give it a shot. I was more than pleased! About a year and a half ago I shaved my head for the kids cancer buzz off and besides two haircuts early on to prevent a mullet, I have not had my hair cut since. I finally had my hair past my shoulders again, but the ends were getting rough so I knew it was time. I was a little apprehensive of getting I too short but knew I needed it back to above my shoulders. I went to Jackie (who was awesome) and asked for a long bob. I wanted my hair all even so it would grow out nicely. I was so impressed by how meticulous she was and was happy for her suggestion to add some long layers to help it fall better. The one thing I hate the most is leaving a salon and finding a part that is uneven or a missed spot, but she was so careful to take the time and go back over my hair a few times. I absolutely love it and will definitely be going back!

I went here in early December, as a walkin looking for a radical change in my hair. I was greated by a pixie looking stylist named Nicole and began my transformation. I loved it, at the end of my visit, my new color was perfect, lavender, and the cut was fabulous as well. I never leave the salon loving my hair as much as I did that day. Sadly, when I went back in for a color touch up, Nicole, was no longer at the salon and they will not tell me where to find her. Le sigh, I let a different sylist touch up my color, but she seemed to have no understanding of how to mix fashion colors, and I’m terrified to go back there. I just need a stylist who knows how to make hair fun!

Called in for a last minute haircut last week and assumed there wouldn’t be anyone available but was happy to hear there was. Only allowing three people in 20 years touch my hair, I was desperate to have it cleaned up. I cut my hair very short a year ago & now have been trying to grow it out with much frustration. I just needed it shaped and cleaned up a bit. Any woman could understand the fear that you go in for a trim and end up having it chopped off. Also I have a very curly hair and there are a lot of hairstylists who do not cut curly hair well. My stylist was Jackie and for the minimal information I gave her, she did a very nice job. Although it was not styled in the way I wanted, the haircut was sufficient and she only trimmed based on what I told her. I paid extra to have a Deva Curl shampoo and set, although they used the product it was not what I am used to for a set, May be a misinterpretation of a «Deva Set», my previous stylist used clips on the roots to lift it and put you under the dryer so you got a curl but not «Poodle like». So although I was disappointed by the styling I was pleased with the cut. just felt like I wasted an extra $ 20 when I went home and re-​washed it & set it myself for free which is why I only gave it 4 stars.
Update: I just realized tonight that she cut the bottom quite short, I wanted to add extensions & now realize I will have to wait another couple of months because there isn’t enough to work with. A little devastated now, and quite upset. I didn’t explain that to her so it’s my own fault. She’s good, but word to the wise, don’t go to anyone who cuts curly hair in a straight line, Deva curl specialists are best, if you have straight hair, she is very good. I’m keeping the 4 stars because she cuts well, just not a curly hair stylist.

I love this place and especially Annmarie! I actually started going to Annmarie at a different salon and followed her to DeNovo when she moved over there a few years ago. I’ve been living in the Boston area for 8 years and after trying countless places Annmarie was the first stylist I found down here that I feel comfortable with and does a great job every time. She listens to whatever is bugging me about my hair and always seems to find a way to fix it, from a great new cut or suggesting new products that make a world of difference, with very little guidance on my part! The salon is also very accommodating with my hectic schedule and I don’t normally have any problems getting in on a Saturday which is nice. They have recently remodeled the salon and looks great inside. I highly recommend it!

I purchased a Groupon to try this local salon. The storefront looks chic from the sidewalk, but the interior leaves a lot to be desired! I wish I skipped this deal, because it will take a few months for my hair to grow back! The woman (I wont use names) assured me she knew how to cut curly hair «I’ve been doing this for 26 years»!! Well, perhaps she should consider a new line of work. She chopped a significant chunk of hair on one side of my head and realized it was a mistake, too short. And could not do the same to the other side. So I pin it back so you don’t notice, not the style I paid money to get! In a few months I will go somewhere else to get it fixed. My suggestion if you are thinking of trying this place… DONT.

Very cute little salon. I really liked it! Laura cut my hair, it was fast and beautiful! I am very happy with my hair cut. I also liked how she blow dried my hair.

Called today because I found myself with the time to finally get my hair done, I had a groupon. After putting me on a brief hold they were able to offer me an appointment which I didn’t expect being a Saturday. So that made me really happy.
I had Annmarie as a stylist she was great, very personable and was very helpful to this color virgin.
She gave me exactly what I wanted a nice deep red and a great cut. Already booked my next appointment. I would highly recommend this salon based on my experience today!

I’ve been here on a few different occasions and have had the pleasure of working with Laura twice. The first 2 times I got my eyebrows waxed and Laura definitely did a great job! She was also the one who did my inverted bob cut yesterday, and I love it! She was so sweet and quick too! I had left work to get the cut and expressed how I was on my lunch break and that I understood if they couldn’t get me in that day since I was just a walk-​in. She got me right in and put the door in 45 minutes! The haircut is adorable, and the groupon I used definitely made it a lot more affordable! I’ll definitely be coming back!

This is a great salon and Ann Marie is wonderful, nice, and totally gets what I want when I need to make change (went from golden highlights to red highlights). I’m here every 5 weeks to cover my gray and always leave happy. On occasion, I’ll schedule my appointment the same day as an event and Ann Marie does a wonderful job styling my hair for my night out. I highly recommend this salon and Ann Marie.

Nichole (the owner) does my hair and she literally SAVED my hair !! I’ve been going there for over a year now. She is so talented and so amazing — I am so thankful and happy that I met her and found her ! My hair was over-​processed and breaking off from a previous hair dresser… who I THOUGHT was good, but she destroyed my hair. But Nichole has transformed my hair completely and it has come such a long way ! It looks and feels amazing ! I love blonde hair and always love to be as light as possible –you can be blonde but it just needs to be done correctly ! She’s awesome ! And the staff is really nice there too :)

It’s been almost a year, but I’m still dealing with attempting to get my hair back to normal. And it will still take about another year…
I called the salon on a Saturday asking about subtle highlights (balayage, or even something less than that) for my DARK brown hair. The owner said they could absolutely do that, and understood that my hair was super dark, so something very subtle would look great. She said that they had a hair color specialist ready to take me in that day. When asked if I needed a haircut, I mentioned no… but maybe a small trim.
When I sat down in the chair, the woman (not who I spoke on the phone with — I spoke with the owner) asked what I wanted and I repeated what I had told the owner on the phone. When asked about a haircut I said just a trim — no layers (and tried to make conversation about how many people think I look good with layers but I end up with just frizzy hair). She laughed, and said you got it.
The highlight process seemed to be taking longer than anticipated, but she said to «Trust her»… she ended up dying, no joke, a straight line from my the middle of my head down (think ombré, but with a SHARP line, almost as if a ruler could have separated the bleach from my brown hair). And these weren’t highlights, this was ALL MY HAIR, no highlights, nothing. I started crying, and said this wasn’t at all it, and I’m so sorry, but you’ve been incredibly mistaken. She attempted to fix it by putting BLACK back in my hair without any sort of color rectifying attempt (no balancing or putting the «red» into it so it doesn’t turn out brassy). Furthermore, the cut ended up being approximately 3 ½ inches off with LAYERS.
I swear up and down that I feel she did everything opposite of what I told her. I am even so clear with stylists for fear of somethign like this happening, so I was really shocked. Luckily, the owner, watching this all happen, said she was not pleased with the outcome and told her to stay longer to fix it… However, the owner left and closed the salon, leaving me with this stylist who butchered my hair. I felt incredibly uncomfortable.
The next day, a Sunday, I was still really upset — it looked horrific. I emailed/​called the owner and asked for my money back so that I could get my hair fixed elsewhere. She gave me the money back and offered to personally fix my hair — but I had to wait till Monday. I was really upset that I had to even wait a day when she could clearly open the salon if she had to. However, she was so nice, and so kind, and genuinely a skilled stylist and hair color specialist. I felt that I was in good hands. Also, she promised me there would only be 3 people in the salon– the owner, her assistant, and me.
She gave all of my money back, fixed my hair — but even now, I have to go get it colored every few weeks to make sure the brassy golden parts dont come back. I have had to cut off a lot of my hair to get rid of all the dead parts… I’ve spent close to 2500 in 10 months just attempting to get my normal hair back, especially with an upcoming wedding. I’ve even considered chopping it all off and getting extensions so that my color looks normal.
I am torn between not recommending this place, and recommending it… The owner, Nicole, is my lifesaver… but, that stylist should have been let go. When I came back for the THIRD time to get my hair colored AGAIN within 4 weeks, I heard her yell at a 12 year old girl «SPEAK UP I cant hear what you are saying» in front of her mother. She clearly lacks manners, skills, and most obviously, the ability to listen.
Needless to say, please be sure you are so explicit and clear to your stylist about what you want, and stop them if you see an issue. It’s YOUR hair, you have to live with it every day, and they don’t.

Staff was really nice and my trim turned out well. Unfortunately my highlights turned out awful — the color was brassy and they left about a half an inch of exposed roots! They were sweet about re-​doing it for no extra cost, but the redo also looked pretty terrible. My husband was not impressed either (and he barely notices normally when I get my hair done!)

I went in for a bang trim in late September because of the great reviews. It was great that they were taking walk-​ins. It was not great that the two girls who were free had a discussion right in front of me about whose turn it was to take me since one of them had already taken a walk-​in. Then, what made it even worse, was that in cutting my bangs, the girl cut the wispy hair at my temple straight across so that now it looks atrocious when my hair is pulled back. See picture. I will not be returning.

I really like this salon and Annmarie is awesome, truly talented! She always cuts and styles my hair amazing and I always feel like a million bucks when I walk out of there. Plus, she is great to talk to :)

I want to preface this by saying my hair does look very nice which is why I gave them 2 stars. The price was more than reasonable as well.
My go-​to salon in Boston shut down (a small three person garden-​level brownstone salon, nothing fancy) and I just moved to Wakefield. De Novo got some good reviews so I made an appointment for a cut, color, highlights, and style.
On arrival, I introduced myself and met Beth (who by the way didn’t give me her name… I only know it because it was on a business card at her station). She seemed fine and the environment seemed small and a bit outdated but whatever it’s a small town salon. I tried to explain what I wanted, overall a one process dark brown color and then other deep brown lowlights to give it more of a dynamic look. Beth immediately says ‘So you want blond highlights”… «No…I want dark brown lowlights», *blank stare*… I didn’t bother continuing to explain and just told her I’d get a one-​process and a cut. Ok. interesting. So I pick a color and she brings me over to the sink to wash my hair. NEVER in my life has someone washed my hair before dying it… and then applied the dye on wet hair… weird. She just didn’t seem to have that expertise you’d expect of your hairstylist (turns out she has been there 8 years).
So, in usual salon fashion, we started chatting about this and that. «So how did you find our salon?» «Well, I just moved to wakefield with my boyfriend because we needed a central location for our commutes, his to Wilmington, mine to Boston…» *no response*. 5 Minutes later: «So do you live around here?» «Yes…Wakefield». 5 minutes later «Why did you move to Wakefield?» …wtf «Uh, because my boyfriend commutes to Wilmington and I commute to Boston and we thought it would be a good central location» no response. 10 minutes later «So does your boyfriend work nearby» WTF. Ok lady, if you are going to have a conversation with someone, try and listen. This made me insanely furious, along with an unclean salon (there was at least one person sitting around during the time I was there as well), the really bad attempt to sell me product, and the faint cigarette smell.
Anyway, I won’t be returning, despite my hair looking nice. She didn’t even try to ask if I wanted to set up another appointment. Another bad business practice.

Oh my god, I only gave them 4 stars? How rude of me. I apologize. It must have been because I hadn’t gotten my hair done here yet.
I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again: Crystal’s my girl. I’ve seen her several times for everything from an eyebrow wax, to a bang trim, to an 8″ chop and I have yet to be disappointed in the slightest. She’s a true artist (actually legit, you’ve got to see her paintings, some of which are hanging in the salon) and has an amazing eye for color and style. Being a traditional artist, she is extremely detail-​oriented and never leaves so much as a hair out of place or unnoticed. She is a true stylist in every sense of the word.
I’ve since moved and will still drive to her from an hour away when I have a job that I need someone I really trust with my hair for.
I’ve sent 2 other friends here and both have left very happy (one saw Crystal, the other saw another girl she recommended).

Great place to get a Great haircut.
Been going to Crystal Landry for years now and she totally rocks! Funny, talkative and always makes you feel at home.
I’m also not a big «appointment» guy so she’s not always the one I get. That being said the owner is great as well.
I work in Boston and when I’ve needed that desperation haircut before a big meeting and gone other places I always come away disappointed.
Crystal, say you’ll never leave!
