Specialties

I am a dog trainer and behaviorist with a B.S. in Animal Science. I specialize in correcting unwanted behavior in your dog such as dog aggression, human aggression, possessiveness, fearfulness, etc. I have worked with Cesar Milan of «The Dog Whisperer» and have successfully implemented similar philosophies with numbers of dogs and their owners.

I also offer obedience training (both on and off leash commands). Coaching for the American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen test is also available.

I also specialize in working with «bully breeds» such as Pit Bulls, Cane Corsos, Presa Canarios, American/​English Bulldogs, etc. Although I specialize in working with these powerful breeds, I have extensive experience with a very wide variety of breeds.

I have my B.S. in Animal Science from Cal Poly State University San Luis Obispo. I have been a dog owner and lover since I was a child, and started rescuing and rehabilitating dogs when I was a teenager. I also have owned horses for over 10 years, and have had a successful horse training/​coaching career as well.

After having attending one of Meryl’s pit bull meet-​up walks, I decided to attend her reactivity class. I have a fear reactive pit bull, and having worked with countless trainers, I was entirely impressed with both Meryl and Nicole’s alternative views on how to handle and work with my dog. My dog is fearful of unknown dogs and people, and I was expecting her to not respond at all in this environment, but much to my surprise they provided an environment my dog perceived as safe, and we were able to actually conduct work during the class. They offered suggestions on how to continue working her training and recommended different training tools to utilize to help her progress to the next level.
I am so thankful to have found Bully Bark, and both my dog and I are looking forward to working with them in the future! Thanks guys!

Meryl at Bully and Friends K9 Training is a FANTASTIC behaviorist. I don’t know what I would have done without her. My Pit Bull became human and dog aggressive when my son moved away and left me with the dog, and I had seen 3 other trainers before finding Meryl, and all the other trainers said my dog was beyond help and should be euthanized.
We had our first meeting in the park, and within five minutes, the dog completely changed for the better. She is an amazing dog handler and is also a great teacher and is personal and relateable.
After only 3 sessions my dog was almost entirely rehabilitated. Meryl and her dogs are the reason my PIt Bull is back to her normal self. She is no longer human aggressive at all, and her dog issues are almost entirely fixed. Meryl and her two dogs, Cooper and Zoe, are all fantastic, and if you have behavioral issues with your dog (s), you will not find a better trainer.
