There are some days (okay, many days) when the craziness of my kids overwhelms me.

Those non-​stop days that are filled with round-​trips to school, soccer practice, gymnastics, grocery stores and doctors appointments. Now sprinkle in bickering siblings, lost shoes, stepped on legos, and a clock that seems to have a personal grudge against me. These are the days when it’s all I can do to just survive. To make it to bedtime. Theirs and mine.

And then… there are moments of pure beauty in my days. Little bits of sparkly bliss within my seemingly imperfect world.

Like when I slow down long enough to notice my preschooler in his own little world — in an almost a trance-​like state, trying to put his shoes on. He isn’t concerned about my whirlwind of madness — running around like a crazy woman, gathering backpacks, homework, and lunches while trying to get out the door so we’re not late to school (again) — he’s just trying to get his shoes on by himself. Jennifer is magic and she will forever hold a special place in my heart! She came to our home to capture our crazy life life with a wild 3 year old and sweet, but fussy 9 month old. I worried about my house being clean enough, worried the hubby would be uncomfortable and most of all I worried that my 2 boys would be just a little too crazy. All the worry faded the moment I opened the door. Jennifer is a special person. She makes you feel so comfortable, special and at peace. She spent the time before our session listening to me describe whats most important about my family. She asked questions about how we live, what we love. Having her in our home was like having a friend over for coffee. Anyone can take a staged photo of your family, but it truly takes a special person with amazing talent to capture the essence of a family in a single shot. My husband and I were speechless as we looked through the gallery of images she captured of our family. She has given me an appreciation for the little moments I take for granted in a day. She’s simply wonderful and I can’t wait for her to come back!

If I could give TEN stars, I would! Jen shot my wedding, and honestly was more like a friend than a person I had just met and hired. She had fun ideas for some off the wall guest shots (mugshots, hello!) and captured moments from our day that I cannot even remember her even taking! She is unobtrusive, has a fabulous personality, and more than all of THAT, her photographic eye and skill produce not just «wedding photos», but spectacular memories. I would, and WILL hire her again in a heartbeat, and refer her to everyone and anyone. Cannot wait to do a family shoot with her too! HIRE HER, you will be so glad you did!

We live in the city and used Jennifer Cheney to shoot our holiday card. We got so much more than expected. What we got was way more than a holiday shot, we got an amazing time capsule of our live. She made sure to get us doing everyday things that we over look today, but will treasure in the future. My shy daughters absolutely adored her and were able to give some of the most genuine and happy faces i have ever seen. She is totally professional while also being loving and becoming your fast friend. I couldn’t recommend her more.

Jennifer Chaney is a gift! She has such a warm personality and her photographs not only show raw emotion but evoke it. I have 3 young children and I wanted to capture this moment in time because it felt like time was flying by and in the craziness of daily life I’d forget just how precious this stage of life is. On the day of the shoot I couldn’t imagine she got any really good shots because the kids weren’t exactly all cooperative at the same time but she remained calm and somehow worked her magic to produce literally hundreds of beautiful photos! Once it was time to review them it took us several hours because rejecting any photo was next to impossible! Do yourself a favor and book with Jennifer. We are so happy we did!

I have nothing but the highest praise for Jennifer and her photographic work. She is SO talented and wonderful to work with! I am not easily impressed, but I can honestly say she’s the cream of the crop. Over the past 5 years, I’ve had some really good Bay Area photographers take photos of my children/​family, but somehow I never felt that I had found «The One” — until Jennifer! I first saw her work displayed at The Dailey Method in Danville and instantly knew I wanted to book her. Her photographs have this extra quality that is hard to describe– not only does she have a spot-​on eye for composition and lighting, but she is somehow able to truly capture the emotion or the spirit behind a moment. The fleeting, tender look in a child’s eye. The pure joy behind a laugh.
We booked a lifestyle session, during which Jennifer came to our home for a few hours on a weekend morning and captured our family doing the things we enjoy most– playing, eating, reading, taking a walk, just living. Let me assure you that my two young boys (1.5 and 4 at the time) are not often cooperative when it comes to «strangers» and when it comes to photography. But Jennifer has this wonderful calm, positive energy that immediately put the boys at ease. They really took to her and she was able to get some heartbreakingly beautiful shots of them.
Every photo we reviewed from our session was beautiful and meaningful. We had such a difficult time finding any photos to edit out that we decided we just had to have the whole album. Aside from being so talented, Jennifer is just a wonderful person. I feel so lucky that we have found «The One,» and look forward to working with Jennifer for many, many years.

Jennifer Chaney is amazing. Amazingly talented. If you are looking to have pictures taken of your family you are making a huge mistake by not using Jennifer Chaney. Not only are her pictures amazing, one look at her website will show you that, her personality is perfectly suited for what she does. She is a mom with young children and she totally gets young children. She seems to know exactly how to interact with them to get great shots. She is also great with reluctant fathers. I’ve had my kids pictures taken by other photographers and they were fine but I LOVE every single picture that Jennifer has ever taken of my kids. I have used to her to document a number of important events in the life of my family and have always been delighted. I promise you will not be disappointed if you hire Jennifer.

Jennifer is seriously THE BEST! She is very relaxed which makes the process very easy. The kids don’t feel like they are doing a chore, it is fun. I honestly never knew photos could look as amazing until I saw Jennifer’s work. So my family finally got photos done and we were blown away. The photos could have been hanging in a gallery, they were that good. The moments they captured were priceless and the her masterful editing made them true art pieces. Jennifer is wonderful! She is professional and personable at the same time. I loved the way she interacted with my boys and having pictures taken at our home was perfect! I have used a couple of other photographers and have been disappointed in one way or another. Jennifer did not disappoint! Her candid photos really were able to show the true personalities of everyone in the family.
She was a great help in selecting our photos from the proofs and even brought cookies! She was flexible in making some changes to our package and allowed me to post some pics on facebook!

Jennifer is the most amazing photographer! I fell in love with her work when I saw it displayed at The Dailey Method in Danville just before my third child was about to be born. I immediately reached out to Jennifer to schedule a session to photograph my newborn and our entire family.
Jennifer came to our home and was an absolute joy to work with. As you can imagine, having two high-​energy boys and an 8-​day old newborn, I wasn’t sure how we would all handle a few hours of having our pictures taken. Jennifer made it seamless and the time went by so quickly. I loved how we weren’t sitting around posing and trying to make ourselves look perfect. Instead, Jennifer took the boys outside and just played with them. They were laughing and giggling and when it was time for Jennifer to leave they didn’t want her to go (me either)! In addition, she was so calm around our newborn little girl and made sure to work with her eating and sleeping schedule.
The best part of the whole experience was the amazing photographs. Because Jennifer’s work is candid and natural, I had no idea how many wonderful pictures she had taken. She was able to capture the beauty and innocence of our newborn and the energy and playfulness of our boys. I love how each photograph shows my kids true personality. I also used Jennifer to put together my baby announcement/​Christmas card. I cannot tell you how many compliments I received!
We loved everything about Jennifer and plan to do another photo session in the spring!
