Bottom Line:
Lisa can work miracles on any space. Her free consultation gives you an idea of her style and work ethic and the end result exceeds expectations. Lisa specializes in a modern look and has a strong command of its design elements. Although redecorations are not cheap, Lisa is able to save her clients lots of money in her execution — from painting to sourcing. I cannot recommend Lisa enough. She’s professional, fun to work with, and can make any SF apartment into a sophisticated expensive looking place at a fraction of the cost.
Background:
I moved into a tiny, 400 square foot studio apartment in upper Cole Valley. The apartment was built in the 1920s, had wooden floors and older appliances. The lighting in each room consisted of a single florescent bulb in a dated fixture on the ceiling and the walls were painted in a desert yellow. Despite its age, it has a lot of character and I was looking for someone to help me make it into a comfortable, clean and modern place to live.
My Experience:
I hired Lisa after seeing her reviews on Unilocal.Lisa has been in business for several years and specializes in modern design. Unlike many decorators, offers a free onsite consultation. When Lisa arrived at my apartment, she assessed each area, asked me questions about my style and talked about specifically what she might do: «You can change those light fixtures with some really classy studio lights — there are really nice ones at Home Depot that are a bargain,» she said as she pointed to my lonesome florescent kitchen light. And when pointing to my desert colored walls, «I’ll bet these will look great if we painted them a nice warm gray — it will make your apartment look really sophisticated and make your window frames pop.»
When the visit ended, we sat down and talked about what I was looking for on the project. I explained that I needed to stay on a fairly tight budget since I just had completed grad school but wanted a grown-​up apartment. I immediately hired her for the job when she said «My job is to make your home nice and make it look like you spent a lot of money on your place even you really didn’t.
Over the next several months, Lisa and I worked on picking out my art, furniture, painting my apartment and settling on a design. Lisa was a joy to work with and helped educate me on what would work with my apartment and what I should purchase in advance. She had a ridiculously detailed command of all of IKEA, Room and Board and Home Depot’s current inventory and sent me emails with things I should buy before redecoration.
We set up a week period in June when she would do the redecoration, and I moved out of the apartment with a suitcase and decamped to a friend’s. Lisa completely transformed, deep cleaned and organized the space. Upon my return, I was treated a place that was STUNNING — functional and beautiful and had a place for all of my belongings. Lisa didn’t miss any detail as she combed through my apartment and reorganized my pantry, dishes, clothes and toiletries. It’s been a couple of months since the transformation, and I still can’t get over how amazing everything looks. Since the redecoration, I am happier, healthier and more organized than I think I’ve ever been in my life — thank you Lisa!
The result:
My studio apartment underwent a transformation not unlike those seen on HGTV. Lisa found a place for everything and created a beautiful space that looked like something out of a design magazine. Gone where the stacks of boxes filled with unpacked tchotchkes from moving day, mismatched hangers, threadbare blankets and unframed posters. In its place was a clean, organized and beautiful space that was inviting and comfortable — my absolute dream home in 400 sq. feet.
The cost:
Altogether, the entire redecorating cost about $ 10k. This included repainting, new high quality furniture from Room and Board and IKEA, new flight fixtures and installation, new entertainment unit, new TV, art, and other decorations and organizational items. This was way more than I expected to spend, but having been naïve to the whole world of interior decorating, I recognize that this was a bargain considering the time she spent on it, the freebees I got (professional reorganization of my clothes, etc.) and the end result which was amazing.

Lisa Rybak is amazing! I have a 1 bedroom cottage and was lost on how to make it feel like my home. Lisa diligently worked with me to get a feel for what I wanted to accomplish with my space and provided great guidance on where/​what to invest in. She also used a lot pieces I already had. When the project was complete, I came home from work, walked into my space and completely fell in love — Lisa transformed my place into a real home!

Lisa helped us transform our entire 4 bedroom house on a tight budget. She was the only designer we found that provides a free consultation, so we decided to give her a try. We were so glad we did! She helped us do the bulk of the work ourselves so we can save some money. She has great taste, and everyone that has come over loves the result. I wouldn’t hesitate to contact Lisa again when we move, and I highly recommend her!

After selling our 1920’s Craftsman bungalow in Oakland, significantly downsizing and moving into a brand new modern high rise apartment, we needed someone to help decorate our place with a modern eclectic edge but still make it feel comfortable and like home. Lisa did it! We couldn’t be happier with the end result. Lisa was able to identify the key pieces from our past home and incorporate them with new, fresh modern pieces that give our place both a swank, urban and eclectic feel to match our new residence and lifestyle. She was a true partner throughout the process from start to finish and kept me on track with the vision when I wanted to swerve every which way with different ideas. All of our friends are stunned at how gorgeous it came out and have said it looks like a model unit. While I was initially skeptical about replacing our existing couch with a pricier, higher end one, Lisa’s instinct and design sense was spot on, it made all the difference to the room and was central to the overall décor, creating the foundation for the apartment’s theme. Trust her recommendations! She was also very mindful and strategic about what items to purchase so I could stay within budget but still achieve the desired outcome. Her team that came into organize by kitchen and closets, build and place all the furniture in addition to emptying my remaining moving boxes and organizing their contents throughout the apartment was terrific… as others said, very fast, efficient and fun to boot. Having her help saved me months of time shopping and cost savings as it ensured I was getting the right pieces. When we left on a Friday morning and came back on a Sunday night, we walked into a showroom! I must also mention that Lisa’s talents as an artist should not go unnoticed: she custom painted a photo of myself in art-​pop style as a key wall piece and I get nothing but compliments (and am immortalized as quite glamorous to boot!) I would recommend Lisa in a heartbeat and look forward to the next opportunity to work with her again. I can’t tell you how many times my husband and I have said «I love our apartment!» Thank you Lisa!

Commuting to Palo Alto from the city for work, then maintaining a work-​out routine at the gym, while keeping my little Charlie happy by feeding & walking him… And going out w/​friends or random dates… Can take so much time out of my days that I literally just want to crawl into bed and crash when I get home. Ok I know, excuses. excuses… right?! I am organized at work or when planning a fun trip… But I must admit I am not domesticated with household stuff. Just not my thing. So I have always hired someone to assist me in my undesirable task to either clean, organize or de-​clutter my place.
First impressions are not always accurate in fact I believe that saying… «don’t judge a book by its cover»… is so true! Lisa & I started off on the wrong foot, a total clash on scheduling… I was annoyed when she couldn’t make the initial consultation, but it was an honest misunderstanding. So I took the chance to hire her, hoping she was not a flake. What influenced me was her before & after pix on her website. Seriously I was more than pleasantly surprised. For some reason, I immediately clicked with her. I didn’t want to get involved with the actual work… I wanted and expected her to do it without me… not having to micro-​manage any of it. She is extremely professional, hard working, and unbelievably amazing!
I was too embarrassed to have her take a before & after pix… But I guarantee that Lisa is worth the added expense to anyone’s budget… especially those that don’t have the time or desire to do so.
Harmonious balance, relaxation… a fabulous Feng Shui bedroom is what I got from Lisa’s arduous long hours sorting through my personal belongings. She is a total God-​send for making my over-​packed closet into a
boutique-​like dream come true! No exageration here. I can see all my shoes, jeans, bags in complete order. My drawers no longer look like a pile of mess; everything is now segregated and color coded. She also has a talent for interior design… rearranged my bed & dressers… fresh flowers. It was simple yet classy… as she would say… Bedroom should look like a 5-​star hotel room like @ the Ritz. I love it.
And without a doubt I will hire her again when I move to my next place!

Part personal organizer, part design fanatic, part, part friend. Lisa is all of these things. My husband and I had just made a mad cross country move and were surrounded by boxes, mismatched furniture, and hundreds of photos and books. We had just purged all of our hand-​me-​down/​college/​ikea furniture and were looking to start fresh. Little did we know how lost we would be. Enter Lisa.
She saw straight to all of our problem areas in organization, design, and general lack of motivation. With absolutely no judgement, she dove right in, went through all of our boxes, assessed the issues, and solved them one by one. Not only that, she never stopped moving. If I walked away for a break, she would keep going, and going, and going. Even as she would get ready to leave, I would see her organizing my mail, or putting books in the right place, or straightening the mantel. I am in awe of her drive, and frankly indebted to it.
Aside from helping us physically SEE the space, she helped us design as well. Having the benefit of her eye and expertise when looking at furniture and imagining furniture in rooms, was invaluable. She respected our aesthetic, worked within our boundaries, and made the spaces come alive. Just having her voice in my head as I shopped, or being able to email/​text her with photos of pieces, helped immensely through our decision making process.
We now have a home that is unpacked, organized, is purposeful, comfortable, and makes a statement.
Even if it just for an hour, Lisa can change your world.

For the past two years, since I had the good fortune of finding her through Unilocal,Lisa has transformed my home into exactly what I wanted – a comfortable, yet stylish and well-​designed living space. Her keen eye for color and aesthetics have been invaluable in creating a warm and inviting environment in every single room throughout the house, eliminating the potential stress and guesswork that go hand in hand with most home improvement projects. Lisa Rybak was phenomenal! I had an entire huge one bedroom apartment reorganized, feng shue’d, and essentially remodeled into a show room. I merely expected assistance with organization, unpacking, etc and instead I got a multi-​multi talented individual transform my place in a matter of a week! There was no need to hire a separate individual to interior decorate because this just happened to be one of her many talents. I wish I had before and after photos to demonstrate on this website, but you will just have to take my word for it. And did I forget to mention she is an artist, so if you need, say, an abstract painting –voila! Unbelievable. It’s hard to believe what you get for the money with all that talent. I guarantee you will be impressed.

An embarrassing amount of time had passed since I moved in to my new spot and somehow I just couldn’t get out of the boxes. Stacked everywhere. Shame and self-​loathing plagued me. The shit was a cry for help.
A friend of mine recommended a session with Lisa, whom I resisted because, well, it’s tough calling in the cavalry to help clean your own house. It’s hard to imagine that they wouldn’t judge you like, well, I would if I went to somebody’s house that was living in squalor like me.
But Lisa isn’t interested in judgements. She’s interested in solving problems. In finding solutions from chaos. She’s thrilled by a challenge. They bigger they are they harder they fall, that’s Lisa’s style. Line ‘em up, knock ‘em down.
So don’t feel bad, she’s on your side, promise. In three hours I lived in a house again, had a color scheme planned, furniture arranged and could breathe again.

I am not exaggerating when I say I will remember Lisa with deep gratitude for the rest of my life for how she stepped in when our family was in a terrible crisis. I hired LIsa first to organize, cleanout and make livable my brother’s flat in San Francisco in preparation for his release from the hospital. It’s hard to describe the disarray and clutter created by a 60 year old man in 20 years in one place, but I found it completely overwhelming. Lisa came in and made not just order from disorder, but made it an appealing place to live — she’s got a flair for design and the place had never looked better. When my brother was re-​hospitalized and had to give up his apartment and move to a group home, I again hired Lisa. I was seriously ill myself and asked Lisa to handle everything, which she did with efficiency, sensitivity, humor, grace and consummate professionalism. She sorted all his belongings into categories — things to save, to donate, to sell and she actually dealt with all of it. She knew all the resources in the City and took care of everything. I will always appreciate Lisa for her kindness to me and my brother in this very traumatic time in our lives. I can’t imagine how I would have managed without her. Her prices are more than fair and reasonable.

Lisa helped us with uneasy task of packing, then unpacking and organizing in our new home. She is very fast, affordable, always on-​time and proficient. We highly recommend her!

I had Wonder Woman pack and unpack my apt. They don’t move you but for me I needed someone to pack me up and unpack me and rearrange furniture closets, etc. I have severe arthritis and was making myself sick trying to do these things by myself. Lisa Rybak started this little group of women and she herself is truly a wonder. In addition to being an entrepreneur, she is an artist and has a good eye for organizing your new abode and the placement of furniture, pictures, etc. If you are a high-​powered career woman and want someone to buy your furniture, feng shui your rooms and have everything neatly in place when you come home they are fast workers, efficient, honest and fun. Lisa was a life saver for me and I would have paid her anything for t he quality of their work.
