Can’t say enough positive things about Dr Ramos. She took my call at 9pm. She was comforting and informative. She checked in with us through out the process and even afterwards has had the most thoughtful follow-​up. It’s a tough job, but she does it with so much grace

Dr. Ramos is a blessing. when it was time to put our Ricey bear to sleep, she was comforting and made him feel at ease. I haven’t seen my baby look ok in about a month since his thyroid cancer diagnosis, he still had his good days more than bad, but this past Wednesday he gave me the «I’m tired» look I’ve been waiting for. when we came to her center, he sniffed around and jumped on her couch and gave me a comfortable «I’m ready» twinkle in my eyes, look. I strongly feel that the comforting energy of the animals she’s helped, gave my Rice peace that everything was going to be ok. It’s my first time having to put any animal to sleep and Dr. Ramos was wonderful. I’m a hospice nurse by trade and I still came apart but I’m glad to have found Dr. Ramos because we share what we do with passion and love. She gave us the time we needed to say goodbye and then he took his last breath when we were ready. We brought our other dogs as well for them to say goodbye and I feel like it was a great recommendation from Dr. Ramos so they can have their peace and say their goodbyes. Dr. Ramos is a just a beautiful soul and so thankful this is her passion because her work is beautiful. Thank you sooooo much Dr. Ramos!!!

If you have to go through with this decision this is the only place to have it happen. Dr. Ramos is above and beyond the most caring yet professional person I have ever worked with. She made me feel at peace with my decision and did everything to make it a comforting and sentimental experience. I would never work with anyone else in these unfortunate circumstances.

Under difficult circumstances of New Years Day and a rapidly deteriorating Aussie, Dr Ramos was absolutely perfect. She was prompt, professional, compassionate to both pet and family and a genuine person. Dr Ramos is the real deal and given the job she has to perform she does it with incredible grace. Bravo!

First off, if you’re in search of these services, my heart goes out to you. Navigating the decision of saying good-​bye to our furry four-​legged family members is never easy. As difficult as our decision was to make, I’m so thankful I was referred to Dr. Ramos, by not one, but several contacts. And I have to say, in hindsight, there is no one other than Dr. Ramos I would have entrusted to care for my sweet min pin Joey.
In April 2015, I returned home from work in the evening and unfortunately my poor baby wasn’t doing well and we knew it was time to put him first and take away his pain. I called Dr. Ramos and made an appointment for the next evening for her to come to our home.
From the very beginning and throughout our time with her, Dr. Ramos was very understanding and empathetic. She arrived at our home and spent some time with Joey and us. She had some treats for him, which he devoured. We never felt rushed or that Dr. Ramos had somewhere else to be. She asked if it would be okay to play some music and light a candle, which we thought would be nice. I won’t go too much further into the details, as Dr. Ramos will be able to explain the process more thoroughly than me. But you should know that she took care of everything professionally and compassionately.
A few weeks later we were able to pick up Joey’s ashes, which were in a beautiful wooden box. Additionally Dr. Ramos made ink paw prints for us as well as an impression of Joey’s paw and a small framed paw print. For these, I am very grateful, as Joey was a big part of my life and gave me so much more than I ever could have given him. Additionally Dr. Ramos holds an annual memorial for her clients at her office in Walnut Creek, which was very sweet.
If you or a loved one is looking for a compassionate and professional veterinarian to support you through this difficult time, there are not enough wonderful things I can say about Dr. Ramos.
Thank you Dr. Ramos for helping Joey and us through such a difficult time. We are grateful to have found you and are thankful you are able to help so many people and their pets.

Even as I cry and mourn the loss of my beloved dog Peanut I am comforted by the compassionate goodbye that Dr. Ramos provided.
My fur baby had gotten sick a few months ago with a terrible disease and the neuro vet tried his best for her with different medications. I knew her prognosis was poor and contacted Dr. Ramos early on to talk about options. She was quickly responsive and gave me guidance.
When the time came that I knew Peanut was truly suffering Dr Ramos was able to come to my home same day. The generosity of spirit and love that she showed my beloved pet was amazing. I can’t thank her enough for giving me a lasting sweet memory of my love bug, safe and calm going over the Rainbow Bridge in her favorite spot at home.

Our beloved cat had reached a point in her life that her kidneys were failing rapidly, she was losing weight and was struggling to get around. When we contacted Dr Ramos, she responded shortly after our call.
Dr Ramos is a lovely person and understood our concern immediately. She explained her services and her fees, asking if we had any questions. We did not.
During the procedure, she explained each step and made sure that we had adequate time to comfort our per and express our deep sorrow.
In the days following, Dr Ramos sent us a lovely sympathy card indicating that she sent a contribution to a pet care society in our cat’s name. She has also called twice to inquire how we are doing.
We would recommend Dr Ramos to anyone who treasures their pets and wants to ensure humane and empathetic service.

Every pet lover knows the years of happiness they will share are well worth the heartache. I treasured every moment of the 17 years I shared with my wonderful Maine Coon kitty Gizmo. I set about the heart-​heavy task of researching how best to make his transition from this life as peaceful and pain-​free as possible. I owe many thanks to previous reviewers: reading their heartfelt stories showed me that when the day came to say goodbye, this was the correct dignified choice.
My Gizzy was hurting, and I had the responsibility of doing right by my treasured friend to help his pain end. I contacted Cheryl to discuss the situation, the process, the pricing-​I had never had to make this decision before, and it rattled me to my core. From our first communication, her compassionate soul was apparent. She was there to discuss the emotional aspects plus everything business related-​even handling payment was simple and done at my own pace. It’s rare to find a professional who is compassionate to the challenges their clients are facing, and work with them.
I made the decision to have Cheryl come to my home, to allow Giz the most peaceful setting. I wanted to be there for him, hold him in my arms, to spare him the stress of the car. I struggled with that decision, concerned about carrying that memory, but in retrospect it was the right choice. My happy memories of him at home with me are far more lasting.
I was able to make the appt. with 1 day’s notice, with Cheryl being accomodating to my schedule and questions. Cheryl arrived right on time that afternoon, and explained succinctly what the process would be, telling me to take all the time I needed before beginning. My mother and friends were there for support, and all were welcome. I took a few minutes to hold my beloved kitty, to comfort him in my arms.
I let Cheryl know I was ready, she sat across from me, Giz and my loved ones, and softly explained each step. She helped Giz get situated on a pillow in my lap, and explained that she would administer 2 shots. The first was the sedative-​anything to make his final moments pain-​free was welcome. She adminstered the shot, and we waited 8 minutes to pass to allow the sedative to take effect. Those 8 minutes were slow and quiet, I just held him and petted him. I felt his body grow so calm and still. I let Cheryl know when I was ready to continue, and she kneeled in front of me. She offered to put on soft music she had brought with her or to preserve the quiet, and I thought quiet was best. She explained the effects the adminstration of the 2^nd shot might have on Gizzy, some of which might have been shocking without warning (particular sounds and movements). Finally, Cheryl asked if she could light a candle for him. She lit a tealight on my coffee table and said «This is for you Gizmo». She administered the 2^nd shot, waited about 2 minutes, checked him with a stethoscope, and calmly said that Gizmo had passed. It was an incredible moment of peace. I had been dreading this moment for so many years, and here it was, and I was overwhelmed. His pain was finally over.
Again Cheryl offered me as much time as I needed, and when it was time to go, she placed him in a pillow lined basket and covered him with a soft blanket. He was the perfect picture of peace, and I will remember that forever. After Cheryl left, I sat with my loved ones in silence, and then noticed the candle again. That little flame burning touched me so so deeply. I continue to light a candle in that holder today.
I remained in contact with Cheryl as I awaited the return of Gizzy’s ashes, as I elected private cremation. We emailed and texted, and she sent me a beautiful sympathy card with a note showing a donation made to a local charity in Gizmo’s honor. 3 weeks later I was able to visit her facility to pick up the ashes in their beautiful engraved cedar box, and also received his fur clipping and clay pawprints. I miss my sweet boy, but I am happy a part of him is back home with me.
I knew a year ago that I wanted to enlist Cheryl’s help when the time came, no matter the cost or heartache. This was the last thing I would do for my friend, and I wanted everything to be perfect. The kindness Cheryl offers is immeasurable-​I will be grateful the rest of my life for the peace and the compassion this experience brought to me. I imagine people reading this are fighting the same battle I was a year ago, and by sharing my story I hope you too realize what can be provided to your beloved pet. I cannot say enough good things-​I never thought I would be on this side of that moment of my life and feel OK. I owe to that Cheryl-​she has answered an incredible calling by taking this profession, and she is an angel on Earth. I am thankful that she became a part of my life, and the life of my amazing kitty.

So– how do you express loss and grief in a positive way?
Cheryl has a level of professionalism that’s rarely seen. She was caring from the very first text message I sent her, days before I needed her. She made me feel as if I was her only client– she responded immediately– she was thorough in her explanation of her services. She was up front about her fees.
As far as how she related to Jake– she was tender and respectful. I could see that Jake appreciated her considerations. Cheryl’s energy was soothing and comforting to everyone. I would recommend her to anyone.

This review is long overdue but until recently, I found it very difficult to speak and/​or write about Kenwood, our Lab mix who was our protector, our comforter, our constant companion for just over 17 years. He lived a very good, long and healthy life. Toward the end, we all knew it was time. It was a difficult decision to let him go and we are grateful to Dr. Cheryl Ramos for helping us with this journey. Her services were invaluable to us. Her thoughtfulness, her compassion… I just can’t say enough about the care and concern she showed our K9 family member and our entire family. She even called us on Thanksgiving, a few weeks after Kenwood’s departure, to make sure we were comforted. Dr. Cheryl provides a necessary service that is compassionate and kind. She’s amazing and we are thankful to have found her.

Our tears are very fresh as Dr. Cheryl Ramos just left our home with our sweet Holly.. Cheryl, you are exactly who we needed to say goodbye to our precious little 15-​year-​old girl. Thank you so much your compassionate care, kindness, and empathy you showed us this afternoon. We are eternally grateful to you for creating a peaceful, loving, and nurturing experience for us and helping Holly get her wings today. Thank you for your service and especially your kind, loving heart.

My partner and I dreaded the day that we’d have to make a quality of life decision for our dear Macey girl. «Best dog ever».
When that day came, we called Cheryl to come to our house.
From the initial over-​the-​phone contact through the entire process, Cheryl was absolutely amazing!!! Because of Cheryl, this most dreaded day went the best that we could have hoped for.
With Cheryl’s gifted presence, our Macey girl was able to leave this world in a manner reflective of who she was; compassionate, peaceful and dignified.

On the upside, Cheryl is very professional and compassionate. I called her on short notice, but she returned my call very promptly and was able to come that day. On arriving she took plenty of time to explain the process, and what to expect. She tries to make it less clinical by making you comfortable and using simple homey props, like pillow and blanket. She was very accommodating of some small requests that I had for my pet’s last moments. My main problem was that the injection used to sedate the pet appears to be quite painful, and caused my cat to Unilocal and try to jump from my lap. Although the reaction was over soon, it affected me. I’ve read that less traumatic methods for this are now used by some vets. Also, Cheryl charges a lot — almost %40 more than the two east bay vets who weren’t available when I really needed this done.

Dr. Cheryl Ramos is truly an Angel. She came to our home and helped our Penny to peacefully leave this world. She was an amazing comfort to us. She gave us all the time in the world to be with Penny and say our goodbyes. We can never thank her enough for what she did for us. She is truly one of the most compassionate people we have ever met.

Cheryl is amazing! I called a dozen in home vets when my cat was dying of terminal cancer but none stood out except for her. I immediately connect w her soothing voice and validating words. She stood out bc she was not business like, she gave is time to decide what we wanted, acknowledging that things may change day to day with these end of life situations. She called to check in on us throughout her day to see if we wanted her to come by. And when we finally made the choice, she comforted us and made herself available right away the same day.
Upon arrival she gave us hugs and was just so warm and understanding. Plus she was informal in a first name basis which made thing feel more at ease and personal.
The most amazing thing was her interaction w my generally very timid cat. We were fully expecting the visit to be traumatic for our kitty Chubba but it was nothing like that. Chubba didn’t seem anxious at all, didn’t run away at all when Cheryl came in. This rarely happens w Chubba bc she really does not like strangers at all. But Cheryl knew intuitively to sit on the ground and make herself small, she talked very little and w a soft voice. Chubba was just completely relaxed when the whole thing went down.
The small details that Cheryl focused on were extraordinary as well: she brought beautiful harp music to play, a candle, and a lovely basket w baby blankets to transport the body. Bc the whole thing was so beautiful and completely comforting for Chubba throughout, we felt so much relief and gratitude for how everything turned out. We were thankful that she went peacefully w no more suffering.
Finally, Cheryl didn’t rush us. In fact, cage kept asking if we needed more time. This was different to some other vets I interviewed who said they can only stay 5 – 10 minutes. Cheryl truly treated our Chubba like a family member by giving her a lovely service and giving us comforting and peace in mind. She also called us the next week to check in.
There are cheaper services out there but the all around experience w Cheryl before, during, and after our loss was truly worth the extra money. Afterall, we can always make more money but we only get one chance to say our last goodbyes. And considering all the only vets I contacted, it was clear that she stood out and came from the heart. If u are an extreme animal lover and u want ur animal family to leave the world in peace instead of fear and anxiety, then Cheryl is the person for u!

The best possible way to deal with a unpleasant, but inevitable situation. Dr. Ramos was wonderful dealing with our 14 year Labrador, Brutus. We are so grateful to have found her practice. She made the end very calm and relaxed for him, and us. She is very compassionate and made us feel very comfortable, like we had know her for years. On very short notice (on a Sunday), she set a time for us to come in for a private appointment so Brutus would not have to suffer for another day… so much better than a sterile, stressful veterinary hospital.

Can’t say enough wonderful things about Cheryl Ramos! She is an angel here on earth! She helped me through one of the hardest times in my life and I’ve thought of her words of wisdom continuously since losing my best friend over a year ago…

Words can’t possibly express how special and compassionate Dr. Ramos was with my cat, Saffron. Saffron was the first and only pet I ever had. I got her when she was six weeks old, and she was put to rest 18 years later, just four days ago.
My poor cat’s kidneys had failed and I had to make the agonizing decision of putting her to sleep. This past Monday morning, I found Saffron hiding in my closet, which she never did. She was letting me know that she was preparing to die, and I listened. I called an in-​home euthanasia service, who was not available that day, but the person I spoke to gave me names and numbers of other services to contact. Just by pure luck, I called Dr. Ramos first, who was available to come to my home in just a couple of hours.
Dr. Ramos was gentle, caring, professional and had that personal touch. She walked me through what to expect and gave me the time I needed to say good bye to my sweet baby. She lit a candle for Saffron, and even brought music by a woman who does therapeutic music for animals! As a Hospice Music Therapist, this was an extra special touch. She talked to Saffron as she was going through the process and made us both feel more at ease (all things considered, that is). She also made a paw print with clay for me after Saffron passed. In the end, she also asked if we had a favorite rescue shelter so that she could make a donation in Saffron’s name. Even though it was an incredibly sad and difficult moment, it was also very peaceful, loving and compassionate.
I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Ramos. What a blessing she was! She made one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make just a little easier. Thank you Dr. Ramos!

Every once in a great while someone comes along who, with one kind act, completely restores my faith that good and selfless people exist in this world. That said, I have no doubt in my mind that Dr. Cheryl is some sort of (if not an actual) angel.
Over the past few weeks I’ve gone through the process of making the agonizing decision to put down my beautiful 14 year old border collie, Luna, who was diagnosed with lung cancer back in February. I chose then to control her pain and keep her as comfortable as possible rather than putting her through surgery or chemo which would only extend her life an additional month or so.
I heard wonderful things about Cheryl and contacted her for guidance. Our initial phone call lasted at least 30 minutes as Cheryl demonstrated unparalleled compassion while she walked me through the procedure and answered my million questions. We set an appointment for three days later, and she stayed in communication with me to see how I was doing and just generally check in and remind me she was there for me.
When the day came, Cheryl arrived right on time and immediately put both my dogs and me at ease. Nothing was rushed or clinical — I was able to lay in bed and hold Luna, hug and talk to her for as long as I wished. I was able to say a proper goodbye with none of the anxiety or trauma of a vet’s office or an awful metal table — I didn’t want her last moments to be in such a setting.
After Luna passed, Cheryl lit a candle for her and stayed and talked to her with me, hugged us, cried with me. When I was ready to let go, my pup was swaddled in soft blankets and gingerly placed in a basket. Though I fully expected all my tears, I never anticipated the profound sense of peace I felt knowing my baby was no longer in pain, and that she was allowed to pass with dignity in her very favorite place. I fully credit this amazing woman for facilitating such a gentle transition over the bridge.
And on a businessy-​type note, the details, billing, paperwork, etc. were all handled professionally and efficiently.
Cheryl, even all these words can’t adequately convey my gratitude. Thank you for being so good to my sweet girl, not to mention Dante and me as well. You will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

This is by far the best place to peacefully say goodbye to your loved one. Saturday my husband and I had to let our sweet Otis go :(He was comfortable and at ease in this tranquil environment. Cheryl is so kind and gentle — I wouldn’t have trusted anyone else.
