History
Established in 2009.
Right at Home was founded by Allen Hager who, in his career as a hospital administrator, watched patients leave the facility and return home. But once home, a lot of his former patients were unable to care for themselves. Allen knew that with a little help, most of these people could thrive in their own homes. But he also knew that there were very few companies that offered this kind of help.
In 1995, Allen started Right at Home in Omaha, NE. Five years later, he started branching into other regions of the country by carefully selecting owners who shared his passion for caring for those in their community.
Joyce and Jim Newport, owners of theWalnut Creek office of Right at Home, have been East Bay residents for over 3 decades, and bring a strong background of management and accounting to a business about which they are highly passionate — helping members of this community thrive and remain independent in their own homes.
Meet the Business Owner
John C.
Business Owner
John Clauser grew up in the Pleasanton area. He attended the University of the Pacific where he studied business administration with an emphasis in marketing. Once out of school, John and a cluster of friends decided to start their own company in Stockton, a boutique marketing agency with a unique model. The agency focused on partnering for-profit companies with nonprofit entities.
John eventually returned to his hometown so he could help operate the family business — a small chain of pharmacies in the Pleasanton area.
When a local assisted living community was closed by the Department of Social Services, an attorney representing a resident asked John for help. Many of the residents hadn’t received medications in weeks and the facility was in chaos. John was already considering opening a Right at Home office and this experience highlighted that he was doing the right thing.
