OK. I need to update my earlier review and be honest.
This bed has felt terrible even after I got a new top pad from this store.
I think I finally figured out why and I blame this store specially. Not totally because they screwed up (which they did), but because they didn’t want to fix their mistake. If I paid a premium price (and you will pay a premium price with this store) I expect much better service. At least take care of your mistakes!
We tried their set up and changed it once (new matteress top) with little Improvement. I actually bought a water bed because I needed something better and this store said this was the best they could offer.
Before I threw this set up into the garbage or tried to sell it I figure I’d call to see if there was anything else they could do. During our conversation it became clear that their the delivery folks had set up the mattress wrong from the beginning. Hard layer in the middle, not in the bottom. Wow!!! No wonder it has felt so bad! But still not right.
I went in to see if they could help me out with their mistakes. Simply stated, I wanted a soft top mattress. 3 inches queen soft. because the medium they sold me was still way too hard. They wanted to charge me $ 500 at first. Then $ 350 after they «talked to the owner». It seemed like a sleazy car dealership (high price included).
When I showed the that I could get the same thing much cheaper at Sleep On Latex .com. The sales person agreed and said that it was a better option.
Thanks for taking care of a customer who spent over $ 3000 at your store — NOT. I feel totally ripped off and screwed!

Over the course of three months I researched natural mattress options.
A colleague recommended The Natural Mattress Store.
PROS:

I can’t say enough about how pleased I am with the service I got from this store. I went to a lot of different mattress stores several times. What made this place different, and why I eventually chose a mattress from here for my purchase, was the service that I got from Sharon. I have nerve damage in one foot that makes most of that foot really touch-​sensitive. After about an hour of trying different mattress combinations, I found one that made me feel like Goldilocks. But, alas, my foot needed something different, so I made use of the layer exchange. Sharon spent a lot of time with creative approaches to making my sleep more comfortable. We’re not talking the usual. We ended up deciding that, in addition to the changed layers, I’d benefit from a piece of wood wrapped in wool fleece to be tucked under my mattress pad. Highly recommend this store.

First: This product is BETTER for your health.

Do your own research about the massive amounts of chemicals applied in the production of mainstream polyurethane foam mattresses and the EMF hazards of box spring coils. (It’s not healthy to sleep with any metallic substances near you. They are a magnet for attracting electromagnetic frequencies.)
In August of 2013, I was in dire need of a new mattress, because of morning lower back pain. I had used a conventional Mancini Sleepworld mattress made by Aireloom, which was a good, supportive, well crafted mattress.. .but only for a few years. I had it for nine. It was bad. And it was made of synthetic chemically-​laced materials through and through, plus coil box springs.
We are all familiar with the smell of a mattress store, right? Yes. Chemicals. Synthetic fabrics. Synthetic Foam.
The very first time I walked into the Walnut Creek Natural Mattress store I was pleasantly surprised by the clean smell of the store. That got my attention.
I spent half my day in that store, napping on different beds, considering the firmness that I would prefer. The salespeople are informative, educational, and not pushy in the least. Eventually I bought a firm 3-​layer 100% pure organic latex mattress set, on a wooden base frame. No box springs.
I slept better the first night. And this entire year has been a new experience for me, hardly ever waking up or tossing and turning in the night. Because the latex pushes back against you, and supports you, rather than molding to your body (Tempurpedic fake foam) or becoming a springy, uncompromising slab (Serta, Sealy, etc). Before, on the conventional bed, I was constantly uncomfortable; turning often, and losing sleep.
Now it is over one year later. I had a little twinge in my back again, so I traded out the lightweight soft 1″ topper for a new Dunlop latex firm topper and I sleep even better now.
These latex mattresses are expensive, but they are guaranteed to last longer, and they have no smell, except the faint smell of natural latex (which isn’t harmful). And they come with a cotton/​wool covering which is way better than polyester or other fabrics. Love this store! Give it a try. Do your homework.

I’m a little disappointed that the $ 1k topper I got to put on top of my memory foam mattress dips in the middle and the sides ride up when two people lay in the bed. The only issue w/​my memory foam bed was that it slept hot and the topper has definitely helped with that. My mattress is still very firm and there are no issues with it sagging in the middle b/​c it just molds around each individual person.
I initially bought the soft on a Sunday and was told it would arrive the following Thursday — I guess they forgot to make mine b/​c that didn’t happen (and the $ 175 cover I ordered didn’t arrive on Tuesday like was promised so I bought one somewhere else). After some negotiating and not accepting another week delay I was told my topper would be made that Thursday night and would arrive on Friday, the next day — very nice of them.
The weekend sales person informed me that they allow for exchanges no problem within 30 days. After sleeping on it for two days I called to make arrangements to exchange for a more firm topper — my back was so sore, I was in so much pain I could barely move. So when I called the next Monday the manager was irritated that I didn’t opt to pay $ 95 to have it delivered to my house, no thanks I can take it the few miles back to the store. His irritation exploded when I asked for help bringing it in «This is why we ask that you have it delivered». Why, b/​c you don’t want to help me? There was nobody in the store! When we brought it in and laid it on the floor he lost it again b/​c I brought it back in its entirety (encased in its wool cover) like the weekend sales person advised me to do. So he started to repeat himself but this time I cut him off saying «I know I heard you the first time but I’d rather bring everything then have to go back home, I was just following instructions». The medium firm topper is a little better but it still dips in the middle, I’ve place a folded towel in between my memory foam mattress and the topper to give it some structure, it’s still not perfect but I’m stuck with it now.
There were other online options that had free exchanges and a 100 day money back guarantee but the hassle of shipped back and paying for that was a big turn off so I decided to shop local. I just saw that Ikea has latex topper for $ 250 but I’m sure its nowhere near the quality (wool cover, organic latex, made in the USA) but I might have just given it a try…

I bought a pillow here for my wife and I. We like the organic concept and feel that we are getting a very good product. I am looking forward to saving some money and coming back for the latex mattress. I will re-​post to let you know about the latex mattress after we get our hands on one and slept in it for a few months.
What I like about this store is it is a local business in the bay area and also the manufacturing process is done locally. The mattress is direct sales to the consumer without the used car salesman feel when dealing with other mattress chain stores.

While shopping at The Natural Mattress Store, we were quite impressed with the knowledgeable staff (Aaron) and really appreciated the relaxed atmosphere that allowed us to take all the time we needed to make a decision. There was absolutely no sales pressure, and this wasn’t the case with the other places we shopped for a mattress. Sure the price is a bit higher than some others, but we were impressed with the quality of materials (certified organic — no petrochemical off-​gassing — certs are available on their website) and the fact that the mattresses are made right here in the Bay Area (Marin), not China.
After sleeping on the mattress from TNMS for over 3 months, we are very happy, are getting totally restorative sleep, and can’t imagine sleeping on anything else (we’ll just have to endure hotel beds).

We had a TempurPedic mattress for 3 years now and started getting back aches. After a lot of research we found out about this natural mattress store and went for a look. Darron there listened to our problem explaining to us and helped us choose a good one. Not just their product but also their service was awesome.

Great Experience Overall! I’m a pretty picky person –and– when it comes to something I’ll be using for 7 – 8 hrs a night (like a mattress) I definitely feel like I came to the right mattress store! I love their «Comfort Exchange’ program which allowed me to swap out different types/​styles of bedsprings and match these with the appropriate amount/​type of cushioning (Talalay is the best) in order to get the perfect feel for myself. The quality of the bedding is great and they give you a window of 90 days to ensure your selection (s) are working best for you. Thats a great concept b/​c its hard to really know if you’ve chosen the right bed just by trying it out in the store a few times. Being able to «tune it in» over time is key imho.
Aaron (Walnut Creek Store Mgr) was really great to work with and was very helpful with picking a mattress combination that worked best for me. I’ve been sleeping better ever since!
Good mattresses aren’t cheap… So, having a company like this that takes pride in customer satisfaction, and in providing quality product; it makes spending good money on a mattress worth it. Its hard to put a price tag on a good nights rest! –T

After being unhappy with the last two mattresses I have purchased, I spent 3 years researching to figure what would be a mattress I would be truly happy with. I decided that a natural latex was the one and I kept saving my money. When I read reviews for the Natural Mattress Store I decided to purchase mine there. From the website, I had a mattress in mind I thought would work for me, but I set aside about 2 hours to just test sleep all the mattresses without looking at the names.
I am so happy with my choice! They are a bit pricey, but so worth it. Aaron, the salesman, was very helpful but didn’t try to influence me. It was ready for delivery in 3 days and the deliverymen were nice.

High Quality, natural mattresses and amazing and extremely honest customer service encompass The Natural Mattress store. This is the first natural mattress I have ever bought and I am on cloud nine with my purchase. We’ve had our mattress now for a little over 4 months now and I’m going to give you my honest opinion. I’ve been sleeping like a baby every night. What first turned my interested into a all natural mattress is I researched some of the chemical compounds they included into a regular mattress. When you read the first five fabrics and actually research /​google them it’s scary. Everything is a toxic chemical and I could only wish I was exaggerating. Here’s the ironic part, I get better sleep on my all natural mattress than I ever got on my regular mattress. I’m not breathing in any chemicals and I’m not losing any brain cells. We also took into consideration the price. My natural mattress will last me 30 years and my last regular mattress lasted my 12. It’s simple math and you’re doing your part by helping out the environment.
PS. The staff was really helpful and knowledgeable about there products. I would fully recommend this place to anyone.

I wanted to buy a chemical free mattress for my toddler, and this place was recommended to me from someone in my Mom’s club. After some research, I was leaning towards a Keetsa and was planning to drive up to Fairfield to the Keetsa store. Since Walnut Creek was much closer, I figured I’d call here first and I’m so glad I did.
A guy named Aaron answered the phone and was extremely helpful. He stayed on the phone and chatted with me for quite some time answering all of my many questions. When I went into the store, he remembered me from our conversation. He walked me through the pros and cons of all choices available. He was respectful of my budget constraints, and helped me settle on the lower priced Keetsa I was originally interested in. Boy, was I surprised to find out that their price was actually 5% less than the price listed on Keetsa’s site. Needless to say, I’m glad I didn’t drive all the way to Fairfield!
My tracking email arrived the day of purchase and although he said the mattress might take a week, it was at my house w/​in 2 days or so. It came via FedEx and I did not have to pay a shipping fee. It was really nice that I did not have to be home to coordinate with a delivery service. Keetsas come boxed and compact and are so easy to deal with. The mattress is also really comfortable! My son loves it and I am so happy that he is not sleeping on a big box store mattress loaded with chemicals.
I also got myself a latex pillow which totally rocks. Highly recommend this place — great product, great personnel.

Side pain gone. Purchased a new mattress here a month ago because my arm and side kept falling asleep with stinging when I laid on my side to sleep. Since I purchased a new mattress from these guys, those problems are gone.
I have also had a problem with leg pain on long driving trips– anxious to see if the new mattress has helped that as well.

My wife and I have had all the bad-​mattress-​store experiences we wanted and then we went to the Natural Mattress store! What a Difference! Not some high-​pressure sales guy wanting us to buy what HE wants us to buy! We think this time around… The Natural Mattress Store gets OUR business!

The Natural Mattress Store is fantastic! The owners proved to be knowledgeable and committed to finding the right mattress for us. My husband and I have different needs in a mattress and this company has the perfect design to customize each half of the mattress to the correct firmness. We are so happy with this bed. We have tried many top of the line inner spring brands and full latex mattresses in the past. This is the by far the best bed we have ever had. The guys at Natural Mattress are so nice to work with. We purchased the bed and then had to make a slight adjustment in the firmness after sleeping on it for a few weeks. The small fee we paid to have them come make the switch in firmness was well worth it and we were glad they offered that customization. We wish them great success.

I’ve had my mattress for a month now. Which is plenty of time to give me a valid opinion on this mattress. I don’t want to leave my bed now. I got the mattress with the coils in soft. Not the all latex one. I’m not a fan of the all latex mattresses. But for $ 2200. This was money well spent. If you look at the «high end» mattresses name brands, made out of crappy materials which are pretty much the same price. There is no comparison. High end by the way is a irrelevant thing when it comes to mattresses. With all the chemicals and b. s that goes into your average mattress. There just isn’t something right about that. Which doesn’t constitute high end.
I had my heart set on a Hasten’s bed. But this bed was $ 10K cheaper. So I figured can’t go wrong with blowing 2K on a bed first and if that fails. Go ahead and flip the coin on the Hasten’s bed.
The pillows by the way are just as great. I’d almost say even better actually. I’m a big fan of the pillows here.

This place is awesome!!! I ordered my mattress (which is heavenly) on a Tuesday and it was delivered to my house by Thursday. I had a horrible time sleeping prior to getting this new mattress (too hot and allergies) but now everything is better. They are a little pricey, but definitely worth the $$ (and I’m a college student so saving pennies is usually pretty important to me). They are the only locally produced, sustainably-​minded mattress store that I have found. Eric was awesome to work with and never once made me feel pressured to buy (unlike Mancini’s and other places). I bought a couple of the millet pillows, which felt great but a warning to anyone out there allergic to wheat-​avoid these (I made the mistake and had an allergic reaction). But they took care of helping me find something to replace the pillows and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about The Natural Mattress Store in WC. Thanks for the great service guys!

Far and away the best mattress store around. Having visited many others (Mattress Discounters and Sleep Train, to name a few), the quality of the mattresses and the knowledgeability of the staff at the Natural Mattress Store remain unsurpassed. The mattresses sold here are truly a dream. Not only are they luxuriously comfortable, they’re free of all the gross and toxic chemicals chemicals typically found in conventional mattresses sold in the big chain mattress stores. Compared to those mattresses, the mattresses sold here are ultra cozy and feel extremely well-​made and sturdy (unlike some of the competitors’ offerings, where I could feel the springs and actually slid off as I sat on the edge of one because it didn’t have «edge support,» whatever the hell that is).
Added to the already terrific mattresses is the excellent customer service. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and zero-​pressure, a quality I cannot praise highly enough because it seems to be so miserably lacking in other mattress stores. I had a particularly harrowing experience at my local Mattress Discounters, where the salesperson was downright unpleasant and had the oily, dishonest demeanor and frantic thirst for commission as the worst used car salesman. At the Natural Mattress Store, I was not harassed by greedy salespeople and was only approached to see if I had any questions, but otherwise was given free reign to try out all the mattresses at my own leisure and ask any questions any my own choosing.
Prices here are incredibly reasonable for what’s being offered. You can always find cheaper mattresses elsewhere, but I wouldn’t waste my money on something as important as a good night’s sleep. For the quality of the materials used to make these mattresses, the prices are just right.
I’m so happy I got a mattress from this store – I’ve never had a better one. As a person who already loves sleeping, having a mattress from the Natural Mattress Store makes getting into bed at night even more of a delight. Wonderful store, superior products. Highly recommended.
