Michael B Wilson Studio

Michael’s painting that hangs in our front hall is one of the most loved paintings we have owned. His talent is evident in all aspects of the work, and we are happy to let others know his artistry is well worth checking out.

Michael Wilson is a gifted artist and art teacher (or tutor) focusing primarily on oil and acrylic painting. Information about both is available at his web site. Over the past several years, I have had the pleasure of learning from him at the New Art Center in Newtonville and his own studio in Waltham.
Michael has the rare ability to meet all students at their own level, beginner or experienced, in whatever style, abstract, realist, cubist, etc and any subject matter, landscape, portrait, machinery. He has the knack for encouraging his pupils to develop their own styles so they feel challenged but not defeated. His teaching style reflects genuine dedication to art and his students, with rye and self deprecating sense of humor that creates a fun and welcoming atmosphere.
No student should feel inadequate even if they are not sure which end of the brush to stick in the paint! At the same time he shares extensive understanding of techniques, color and composition so that even the most advanced artists find his kind critiques constructive. Michael also brings to painting classes a very broad knowledge of contemporary art and art history, which he brings to the painting class and to occasional exhibit tours.
