Established in 2002.

Wow time flies when you’re having fun! We started Plug-​n-​Play PC way back in 2002 in order to provide Waltham and the surrounding area with friendly, personalized, professional computer repair services. We are a family-​owned business, literally a «Mom and Pop shop» owned by husband and wife that also believes in giving back. We support our local community in many ways, from charitable contributions to food pantries and churches, scholarship donations for students, and sponsorship as well as active involvement in the city’s youth sports leagues. We try to put the «personal» back in personal computers!

Tried to walk in on a Wednesday afternoon at 12 noon. There was a paper sign saying closed out front, even though their hours are 10:30 — 4:30. Peeked inside and saw a worker, so I figured I would knock. Knocked on the door, and the owner, came out asking how he could help me. I told him I was there for computer repairs. He said he was too busy to take new orders. I would recommend calling ahead to see if they have room for a repair.

I am extremely computer savvy, but I found myself with an issue I couldn’t figure out. I was asked to fix my wife’s friends computer. She had gone to Best Buy and Staples, and they could not identify the problem. They recommended rebuilding the computer from scratch. I messed around with the system for a while and I could not fix it either. Another friend from college recommended I bring it to PnP. The guy there was very friendly. Based on my story he prepared me for the worst, but said he’d do his best. I was amazingly surprised when I picked up the computer and the problem was solved. I would recommend these guys in a second. The service was great, and the price was not bad either.

When I had to add memory to my Mac Mini, I initially went to the Apple Store. The «genius» behind the counter was going to charge me an exorbitant amount for the additional memory and the labor.
I talked to Roger and he was able to upgrade my RAM at a fraction of the cost, helping me avoid the «Apple tax»
My Mac Mini has been running great since. Thanks Roger.

These people actually care enough to ask smart questions and help you in meaningful ways. Being served by a small business where the owners take an interest in their customers’ needs far and away exceeds my experiences with places like the Geek Squad and big box stores.
It’s nice to actually meet the people who are going to be tearing apart my hard drive and have access to my personal data, it’s even nicer to know that they aren’t going to jerk me around or charge me for services I don’t need.

Don’t do it. Too expensive, crummy job, too long. Go to Best Buy. I tried to support a «local business» and ended up wishing I hadn’t.
