CoSM Chapel of Sacred Mirrors

I’ve visited the campus a few times over the last few years but only actually stayed at the facility as a guest for the Visionary Art Painting Intensive with Alex an Allyson Grey. The house is a beautifully renovated Victorian mansion that now serves as a bed and breakfast retreat for artists and creative folks. The cozy rooms are stocked with beautiful art. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous. There are amazing religious artifacts, reflecting ponds, trails and sacred memorials throughout. Artists can come and recharge their creative batteries and find inspiration abound through the plethora of paintings and art installations from internationally renowned artists. The Mushroom Café has an amazing mural and great food to boot. This place is a must see for artists and those who appreciate great art. The Grey’s are world-​class hosts. Come here and soak up the creativity.

I visited the original CoSM in the city a few years ago but I visited as a Tool fan only. I came here recently as someone with more of an interest in art and spirituality.
There’s nothing negative you can say about this place! It’s a gallery that showcases Grey’s awesome art while at the same time maintaining a very cozy, inviting atmosphere (which was somewhat lacking at the Chelsea location). You are walking around a house living room area, looking at art — what’s not to love. Good vibes here — very comfortable. There’s also a café and sleeping quarters upstairs if you are interested in staying. Unfortunately, the sacred mirrors were not on display when I went — I think they are preparing them for another installation and are still setting up. Cute gift shop!
I’d suggest going during the day so you can tour the large grounds. We came when it was dark so didn’t have a chance to and missed out on a bunch. Oh and it’s $ 5. Prepare to remove your shoes :)

I simply cannot wait to go back and stay for a few days. This magical place made me want to move back to NY just to be closer to CoSM.

Been doing business with CoSM for about 6 years and everyone that I’ve worked with from the beginning his great. It’s a beautiful property with inviting staff and atmosphere. Definitely love visiting this place.

This is a great place to see Alex Gray’s work up close. You also get to walk around the grounds, which are quite extensive. All for $ 5. Good deal. Nice idea for a day trip. Close to train station in New Hamburg. Check it out.

Went with some friends in celebration of my birthday, one of whom had been a big fan of the original Chelsea site. It was a great surprise and quite fun. While I’m not a huge Grey fan, I was excited to see his intricate works up close. Sadly most of the one’s a saw were reproductions and the dancing crowds indoors made it difficult to appreciate the art as it was. I loved the grounds though. I spent most of the warm night outdoors watching different performers and I especially enjoyed the white gazebo structure a short distance from the house. You know if this is your kind of scene.

Great spot to go out for some inspiration. CoSM is now is on a huge piece of wooded property up in Wappingers Falls. The main house has a historical feel is set up like a gallery, and features original and reproduction artwork of Alex and Allison Grey, and you should see it in person.. . a total trip of scope and detail. A companion and I attended a full moon ceremony there recently and felt like we were on the verge of some exiting things to come. After the ceremony they lit up a bonfire and held the best drum circle I’d ever been to, with two tribal twin brothers and a shitload of dancers holding it down. You can also book an art retreat weekend here for about three hundred bucks.. . CoSM operates as a church, supported by donations, celebrating spirituality through art and collaboration in accordance with Alex’s vision. Very cool.
