Price Rite

We have had the best experiences at this Price Rite, lately. We have a favorite cashier, Kyle. He is incredibly pleasant and helpful. Great job, Kyle!

I have been frequenting the supermarket across the street for a few years and I’m kicking myself for not stopping in here sooner.
The first thing that struck me was the unexpected produce: guava, tamarind, bok choy, micro greens. Then I noticed that they have a sizable organic selection, but I couldn’t quite remember how much I was paying for the same items across the street. I snapped some picture and realized that I was saving a few bucks buying my organic soy milk and eggs here instead of across the way.
This establishment also carries lots of Portuguese and Puerto Rican foods. Basically is you’re white and walk down some of the lanes, you’ll feel like you’re in a specialty store. It’s incredible and interesting and makes me want to try new things.
Definitely bring your own bags as they charge for plastic ones which is super awesome! Big motivation to be environmentally conscious. Also even if you’re only grabbing a few things, use a cart. They put the items right back in the cart after ringing them up so you can bag them at a designated area. May read as a little weird and complicated, but I assure you it’s not.
I will definitely be stopping in here frequently to see what amazing stuff they have in stock!

I have to admit, the first time I walked in here I was a little intimidated by the security guard at the door but all in all, this is a very handy grocery store to have nearby. They seem to cater to a Hispanic clientele based on the majority of the food available, which is great if you are looking for those spices, cheese, beans, etc!
They have it all, fresh produce, meats, cheeses, milk, cleaning supplied, H&B, frozen, snacks, pasta, cereal, coffee, coconut water, pickles, etc. The prices are what keep me coming back. They have ‘egg lands best’ brand eggs and yogurt for way cheaper than the competitors for example. It’s definitely worth a look to save money.
Things are not always available, so if you use it, and it will keep, pick it up for the pantry. If you don’t see what you need, check back later. The cashiers are all super friendly. Bring your own bags or you can buy some at checkout.

If you can get over it not being one of the Big Chains and that they do carry a lot of off brands, you will be rewarded. They do carry name brands but they come and go so it is not always a shelf staple. When they do have them, they are really well priced. As of the off brands; some are better than the name brands and some are not, but pallets will very. In the end, bring your own bag and you will save a ton of money. Between here and the place down the street that begins with a ‘A’ we have changed our shopping habits and are happy we did.

I recently discovered Price Rite. A solid stop for the staples, no frills. You bag your own groceries, fyi. And I actually like that they charge people for bags because it should encourage people to bring their own. If you are cool with this, then this is a good stop for the basics. It is the kind of place families go to and sells alot of processed stuff. Not really my thing but they had cheap produce, chicken, canned vegetables, and dairy. I wouldn’t go here all the time but I may stock up now and then. Also, it is in a surprisingly good location near many businesses and not in a sketchy area so that is nice

Lemme say this: I actually kind of love Price Rite. I give this place three stars because it isn’t a fully-​stocked grocery store by any means, the shelves are cluttered, and I question the quality of their meat.
However, consider this place the discount store of markets. You come here to find random, eclectic discounted grocery items, and like today, I have made off like a bandit with some of their CHEAP quality stuff. A huge Sun detergent for 5 bucks. Yummy pie crusts for 99 cents. Fudgsicles, polenta, coconut milk… As you can see, random, but delicious!
So, run away from their meat section and head on over to their freezer and non-​refrigerated/​canned foods. I also like their produce. Cheap produce that’s just as fresh as the standard market!
And this location just happens to be situated within 5 minutes of a Target and a Trader Joe’s. These three stores are the shopping tri-​fecta!

I have mixed feelings on this place. I shop here every week but I can’t buy everything I need. I come here 1^st and then head across the street to Trader Joes to finish my shopping.
Produce — hit or miss. Lettuce, apples and bananas always seem to be safe bets. The rest of the produce quality can be really iffy. I’ve seen mushy peppers, shriveled cucumbers and moldy potatoes. You have to be picky when choosing what to buy.
Dairy — Not a huge selection. They have started carrying organic milk in half gallon containers and organic eggs but both can be purchased cheaper across the street. Conventional dairy is cheap if that’s your thing.
Meat — cheap but doesn’t seem to be high quality. Classic case of getting what you pay for. They do carry some free range beef which is nice but the selection seems to shrink everytume I visit. I have a feeling in the future it will no longer be available.
Grocery — Good selection of canned goods, baking needs, spices, pastas etc. Not a ton of specialty items but they have a decent amount of italian and spanish ingredients.
Frozen — Lots of processed boxed meals, again if that is your thing go for it. I can really attest to much in this section because I don’t buy it.
Staff/​Clientele — This is where things can get hairy. For the most part the staff is nice but some of them don’t seem too quick on the uptake. I had an issue once with a payment and it took 4 different people and 20 minutes to figure out the obvious solution. They also never seem to have enough cashiers on (especially on the 1^st and the 15^th of the month when the store is mobbed…) and the lines to wait can be long. Other shoppers are a mixed bag — some are scary, some are nice and some are downright rude. Sometimes it can feel like a cattle drive trying to get down the aisles.
Conclusion — Price Rite is great place to buy lots of basic groceries for much much cheaper than the conventional grocery store. To earn those low prices you have to be picky with your produce, watch expiration dates, bring your own bags and deal with the occasional long wait time and crazy customers.

Price Rite — This is always my first stop when I go grocery shopping. They don’t have all the selection that the big chains have but they have the basics and their prices are awesome. The stuff they have is often «half» the price of Stop and Shop! Also, they have great produce and the price is rite! I can shop here and get 3 bags of groceries for $ 25. The prices really are great. TIP: Bring your own bags or they charge you .10ea to buy new ones.

I’m a big fan of Price Rite, great place to come for cheap no frills grocery shopping.
They don’t carry many name brands but they do have quite a bit of varitey. The only thing that this price rite doesn’t have is the deli section and fresh fish section.
Great place to get the fundamentals of grocery shopping then you can head right across the street to Trader Joes for the speciality items on your shopping list.
