My wife and I had a very negative experience with All 2 Dance, in particularly with Victor. As beginners, we bought a package of six lessons, at around $ 100 a lesson ($ 589 total), in preparation for our wedding this fall. The initial lessons with Anne weren’t too bad — she can be a little brusque, but she was largely professional and my wife and I felt like we made good progress. The group lesson we had with our parents was particularly fun and helpful.
However, our experience with Victor was horrible. In all of our interactions with him, he was extremely blunt bordering on harsh, interrupted and talked over and at us, and displayed an unprofessional and unwelcoming attitude.
For instance: in each lesson we had multiple conversations with him that went like this:
Victor: Stop. That’s wrong. Why did you do that?
Me: Sorry, I think I got confused because…[insert beginner reason like «I missed a step with my left foot» or «I was concentrating on my footwork and let my hand drop”]
Victor: *interrupts* That’s wrong. Do it the way I showed you.
Repeat that every 5 minutes for an hour, along with some unsolicited berating over where you are or are not in your wedding planning, and you’ve got $ 100 worth of Victor’s time but very little dancing or instruction. It was especially frustrating because it repeatedly broke our flow of concentration and to stop complete, take a step back, and be lectured at.
We walked into our fifth lesson trying to decide whether we wanted to buy additional lessons — we’d been somewhat uncomfortable with Victor’s style before, but had spent more time with Anne, and weren’t sure if we needed more lesson time before the wedding.
Our last lesson was so bad, however, that my wife literally left in tears, and I spent the last half of it deciding if it was worth embarrassing her by walking out halfway through. We decided that we were completely uncomfortable returning, and notified Victor and Anne via email that we would not be using our final lesson, which we’d already paid for. We didn’t receive any sort of response — no apology, no expression of concern, certainly no mention of a refund for our unused lesson.
I would continue, but this review is already long enough as it is. We’re giving All 2 Dance the lowest ratings we can for the simple reason that we cannot under any circumstance imagine ourselves returning or recommending that anyone else take lessons there.

Victor was great. My fiancé and I just came back from our first dance lesson, and we are feeling much more relaxed about dancing at our wedding. Victor was very patient and the private lesson was well worth the money. Highly recommended!

Ann and Victor gave me and my fiancée 12 private lessons. They both have so much wisdom about dancing. A few friends of mine know how to dance well but Ann and Victor have had decades of practice and practice teaching. They know all the little errors and habits that can throw off a good first dance at a wedding. It’s in these details that you really get your money’s worth from lessons. Dancing is about combining so many different things and you need strong habits early on to allow you to succeed. I would highly recommend All2Dance. Private lessons will always have scheduling issues and previous lessons going over their allotted time but they are very good at giving you the full time that you have paid for even if that means making up for it at a different lesson.

I have been dancing for 17 years (on the foundation of 6 years of lessons growing up in Puerto Rico), and was looking for a place in DC that could teach both me and my boyfriend, who had taken lessons here and there but was more of a novice. Victor’s group lessons are tailored to each student’s level, so he would give my boyfriend beginner instruction while correcting my technique and always making sure I had fun. Victor focuses not just on moves but on technique (step size, posture, distance from partner) and is the only teacher I found in DC who CARES IF THE MAN IS LEARNING TO LEAD, which is critical to retaining the lesson and being able to dance outside of class. The location is a bit out of the way if you don’t have a car, but we used the time spent waiting for the D6 to practice what we had learned on the corner. Bar none the best place for quality salsa instruction in DC, and we tried all of the places ranked highly by Unilocal

Anne gave me and my fiancée six private lessons as part of a package I purchased on their website. Since the first 15 minutes of the first lesson, she was extremely easy to work with, very pleasant, and, most importantly, so effective in giving us tips and guidelines to learn right away. I would strongly recommend her and Viktor (who helped in one of the lessons) to anyone willing to learn to dance any rhythm in the DC area

I’m in the military and, after having a fantastic dance instructor in college, I’ve tried to find worthwhile dance classes everywhere I’ve been stationed. I’m on my fourth duty station and I have not gone back to anyone for a second lesson until I found Victor and Ann at All2Dance. The best thing about this couple is they are great TEACHERS. It is one thing to be good at dancing (or anything else, for that matter), but being good at something doesn’t necessarily mean you are able to teach someone else to be good at it. This duo has that talent.
I dragged my wonderful fiancée (now wife) to group swing dance classes shortly after we were engaged. She had never danced before and she was not too keen on having an official first dance at our reception. But I really wanted to, so she did it for me ‘cuz she’s awesome like that. After hammering out the basics at group classes and learning just how much fun Victor and Ann are, we signed up for private lessons and took about 12 hours worth over the three months leading up to our wedding. By the time we were done, my fiancée’s stage fright was gone and she was actually enjoying herself. Our first dance went perfectly and got quite the reaction from the crowd. Plus I was able dance competently with my 77 year old grandmother who has been dancing her whole life.
The group classes are great for getting your feet wet, but if you’re prepping for an event, private lessons are a great investment of your time and money. The cake gets eaten and the DJ plays for a few hours, but you’ll be able to dance for the rest of your life.

About a year before our wedding, my fiancé (now husband) and I decided to take a few group lessons. We were hoping to just pick up some moves by taking periodic group lessons so that we didn’t look like fools during our first dance. But, we got hooked and decided to take private lessons. We had a private lesson with Ann once a week for almost 9 month before the wedding. Our first dance was so much fun, and everyone was impressed. Ann, Victor, and George at All2Dance are very friendly and knowledgeable. They will teach you how to actually dance, and not just memorize some choreographed steps. They are flexible, and really listen to what you want to get out of the dance lessons. Even though we are finished with our first dance, we are continuing our dance lessons and can’t wait to learn some new dance moves.

Surprised my girlfriend by taking her private lessons. Victor was superbly accommodating and a patient and wonderful instructor. He immediately made both of us feel comfortable and made it a special experience.

Victor and Ann are very good teachers, and my husband and I really enjoyed the dance lessons leading up to our wedding. Their teaching style is impeccable, and we’ve both significantly improved as dancers. As others have said, they really push the private lessons, but I also think that the private lessons are worth it.

Had to take them to court in 2011 to get our money back for a dance class for my daughter. They were disorganized, canceled classes, and refused to make a refund until I won in DC small claims court. At least one other parent in the same class went through the same court process.
Maybe Ann and Victor learned their lesson about how to treat clients, as the positive reviews are recent.

We worked with Ann the week before our wedding, and she was fantastic. We didn’t have much time to learn — and we only did one lesson — but we were so happy that we found her and that we worked with her.
As others have said, there was a lot of pressure to try to sign up for more lessons, but we politely declined. I’d definitely recommend this place, and if you’re not up for more lessons, I’d just say so.

I highly recommend All2dance! The classes are small and intimate, and each student gets plenty of personal attention. Victor & Ann are wonderful teachers who have been doing this for decades and really know how to teach to individual learning styles. No matter what your starting skill level is, you will definitely get a lot out of these classes. 100% worth the money.

My girlfriend and I took group salsa lessons here and were very impressed. Victor & Ann are super friendly, knowledgeable and easy to work with. I was not much of a dancer going in but Victor helped me feel comfortable and I was making progress from the first day. Definitely recommend!

Ann and Victor (the owners) are wonderful to work with. We started taking lessons with them about 3 years ago. My boyfriend got lessons for us as an anniversary gift and it’s been so great we haven’t stopped taking lessons.
Now my boyfriend is not one who loves to dance but they make it fun and now he can lead me through Waltz, Tango, Rumba, Salsa, Cha Cha, Zamba, Fox Trot, Quick Step, Sway, and Hustle.
The private lessons are great and can accommodate our busy schedule.

We looked at some other option when we first started taking lessons but nothing compared. Ann and Victor have a style that makes it easy to understand and learn new steps without being overwhelming. Also if you look at their private lesson packages they are a great value compared to many of the big name dance studios.

Victor and Ann are not only superb dancers and fun people to be around, but they are also excellent teachers. My then-​fiancé and I had originally booked only 3 private lessons with Victor to prepare us for our first dance. Neither of us knew how to dance, so we were dreading the first dance and planning to spend only the bare minimum amount of time alone on the dance floor before inviting our guests to join us. By the end of our lessons with All2Dance, however, we were seriously considering two solo dances so we could have plenty of time alone on the dance floor to show off our moves!
We had so much fun during our lessons and made such progress that we upgraded our private lesson package twice. Victor knew how to build our confidence and keep us interested with new dance moves. When the big day came, we were well prepared and had a blast — all thanks to Victor and Ann.
Victor and Ann truly go above and beyond to make their clients happy. As our wedding date approached, we were taking two to three private lessons a week, and they were extraordinarily flexible and worked with our schedules. The few times we had to reschedule our lesson, they were understanding and helpful. Ann even personally delivered to our wedding venue a pair of dance shoes my husband bought but couldn’t pick up in time for the wedding.
In their private lessons, frequent group classes, and student parties, Victor and Ann are a delight to be around and learn from. We were 100% satisfied with every aspect of our experience with All2Dance.

Instructors are willing to work with you and explain the next steps, although there are always pushes to sign up for the $ 98/​hour private lessons.
