Embassy Suites

We arrived in Washington D. C this past Friday for a typical touristy weekend. My husband made reservations here at the Embassy Suites through Trip Advisor for a great deal .
Upon arrival we pulled directly up to the Valet parking in the front of the hotel and we were greeted and assisted immediately. The rates were explained to us approx. $ 50, each day with unlimited access. Super convenient for a family of four and a ton of unneeded luggage for one weekend. Our front desk staff was over the top accommodating (Robby from Maui).
The amenities at this hotel are exactly what we were hoping for. The room was spacious, clean, and quiet. The managers hour is nothing to complain about. Free spirits from 5:30 — 7:30 nightly with heavy appetizers. It’s free so I wasn’t expecting a fancy cheese and cured sausage platter. There was make your own nachos, popcorn, pub mix, M&M’s and gummy bears. They also did celery and carrots with ranch, hummus, etc. the pool was a good temperature and not overly crowded, and a consistent depth of 3 feet throughout the lengthy of the r our pool! Great for kids !! The hot tub was small and not too hot. Breakfast amazing ! Again free, but the variety is amazing !
Most importantly the staff here at the hotel was impressive! Every staff member remembered our family and greeted us at every encounter. Help for anything we may have needed was offered ever time ! Definitely will return to this fantastic city again!

My room and bedding were clean and modern. Everything worked as expected.
It was nice and quiet. I was there on a Thursday night, so it might be noisier on a less busy evening. If you’re a Hilton Honors member, you can put «quiet room» on your profile so that they can automatically place you in a quieter suite (e.g. higher floors, away from elevators).
The room comes with a complementary breakfast that includes made-​to-​order omelettes, pastries, fruit, yogurt, and buffet-​style hot foods (eggs, bacon, potatoes).
The breakfast was a little confusing at first because the hostess asked for my room number, then just looked away. It would’ve been nice for her to say, «go ahead and help yourself to the buffet or omelette bar.» After you eat, you just walk away without getting a bill.
The staff were pleasant, although I didn’t have much interaction with them beyond checking in.
Overall, it was a nice and uneventful visit. It wasn’t very memorable, just a standard clean hotel, which is definitely a good thing when you’re travelling for business.

I stayed the night for only 1 night after a big blow out celebration for my sister’s 40^th. The rooms are very spacious and provide you with a very basic kitchenette.
The room was very clean & the beds were very roomy & comfy. I almost felt like I was sleeping in my own bed.
We did not do the breakfast as we were going to brunch, but I’m sure it’s your standard super continental breakfast.
The only downsides to this hotel are (1) parking although it is metro accessible for those of you who are using their services for meetings and the like but for me $ 40 for overnight is outrageous & the street parking is at a minimal since you have to wake up at the crack of down to move unless you want to gifted with one of DC’s finest trinkets, a ticket. (2) quiet floor signs… I can understand that during the week but on the weekend, when DC is LIVE why would quiet time begin at 9 PM. I know that they have had issues with guest in the past from events that were hosted here but I think 9 is a bit much for grown ups on the weekend.
Overall, my experience here was satisfactory.

The breakfast is pretty good and they offer happy hour. The omelette makers are fantastic and fast. The maids leave you a nice note and do a great job! And the Manager is very nice and hard worker!
The bellmen are nice except they take forever, I had to leave my luggage with the bell man even though our room was booked months in Advance and then it pick it back up it took forever. It also took forever to drop off today. The pick up wasn’t too bad because the manager helped me out which was nice.
The main reason I’m rating them a 2 other than bellmen slow service was Meagan, the check-​in receptionist. This morning when I left, I turned in my keys and I asked her for a water and she said they only do that at check in. I mean come on! You see me waiting for the bellman, I’m an HIlton Honors holder. I can get water at the breakfast area. You were just standing there. Why couldn’t you just give me a water? Geeze! Could you not afford 50¢ after I spent $ 600 in 3 nights? And she said she would email my receipt at 8:00am, it’s 3:24pm…still haven’t received it.

Came here for a conference.
The breakfast buffet offers standard items (eggs, breads, fruit, yogurt) and also fresh omelette station. The coffee and tea is not the best, but what is usually offered at these places. The eating area is clean.
The conference rooms are small and intimate and join to become larger. Sound quality is good. The sit-​down luncheon was ok. Nice that it was served with unsweetened iced tea. The carrot cake was surprisingly good.
The location is great, and there is plenty of eateries in walking distance. Very close to the metro.

Stayed here for one night last week with 5 in our family. 3 adults, 1 fifteen year old and one twelve year old.
Room had two Full beds and a pull out couch and all were comfortable. It’s DC, and room amenities don’t matter much to me because the more time I am in the room, less time I am out enjoying DC.
Happy Hour-5−7pm, free, home run. Unlimited chips, salsa and hummus. As well as M and Ms and Gummi Bears. Could have used some finger quesadillas or something that would take the place of a meal, but then you wouldn’t have a reason to go to the restaurant/​bar after.
Unlimited soft drinks, some mixed drinks and Bud Light and Yuengling Lager on tap… Yes please!!! Happy Hour was great.
Even better was breakfast the next morning. Custom omelets, French toast, sausage, bacon, cereal, bread stuff and more… all unlimited and all free!!!
Highly recommend staying here as it is also only a few blocks from many attractions and the National Mall.

Comfortable affordable luxury right in the middle of the city.
Yes, I’m a local but sometimes you just need a staycation to recharge!
My room was spacious with a lovely view but I have to get a half star because the doors on the kitchenette were slightly off hinge. Looking at the neatness and details of the room then seeing the off cabinet doors was akin to seeing a lovely painting hung on the wall with at an slight angle. It was a minor detail in the grand scheme of things as everything about my stay was lovely. The bed and bed linens made for a peaceful, quiet slumber while the hotel’s «no party policy» ensured I wouldn’t be woken up by late like revelry and shenanigans (greatly appreciated!).
The complimentary managers happy hour made for the perfect way to unwind. Don’t expect to get full here though, as the snacks offered are nothing more than simple bar snack foods like chips, guacamole, and pretzels. I was surprised at the variety of the drinks offered, however — a margarita, beers, several wines, simple cocktails, sangria, sodas and a non-​alcoholic punch.
Mornings offered a complimentary full breakfast with custom made-​to-​order omlet bar. For those curious about the lines and how bad it can be in the morning the hotel does offer a sign hinting to the best time to go, giving you an approximate time/​flow typical. For example, on weekends before 730 for little crowds, after 830 for a moderate pickup and after 9, well it’s just going to be a free-​for-​all at that point. The early bird get the worm, or in this case, a custom omelet and first choice at the breakfast bar.
Majority of the staff were polite, friendly and very helpful.
Also note — wifi is free IF you’re a gold hilton honors member. Everyone else is subject to fees.

Pros–
Bed and linens are comfortable, clean, good breakfast. Staff is helpful. In front of a Starbucks. Walking distance to Musuems, bars and the few restuarants in DC. Easy access to cabs.
Cons–
Happy hour: They need to have someone serve the snacks. I witnessed children placing their bear hands in the bowls… Yuck, no snacks for me.
Also I was served premixed drinks. Me and my husband became very ill and unable to enjoy the nightlife in DC.
Valet– I tried calling ahead to have my car ready and was redirected to the general automated hotel line. Took 15 minutes from the time I gave valet my ticket to recieve my car.

Brief and to the point;
— swimming pool heater not working, waste of money, kids did not use it after all.
Front desk only apologized, no discount or complements.
I talked to them directly before making the reservations for a good amount of time asking if there was construction, anything I should know about. They never mentioned swimming pool heater not working.
— Bed sheets had holes
— Rooms are noisy, you can hear all kinds of activities and conversations from other rooms. Door slamming gets annoying after a while.
— Furniture is out dated, old and faded, needs a furniture overhaul.
— Housekeeping talking loud from end to end of hallway, whistling and singing while working. Had attitude when asked for more coffee or sugar
— We stated, room for four, only had blankets for two, room not ready
— Complimentary breakfast has no options for lactose intolerant or allergic to animal products guests. Waste of money, all I ate was bagels and had breakfast instead at Protein Bar restaurant two blocks down.
Valet parking over-​priced, $ 42.00 per day
Internet is $ 10.00 per day
I would not stay again. Pool was useless, rooms outdated.
Its a family hotel, lots of kids so you know for those traveling for business.

Nice hotel with limited services. The one restaurant does a good job of being all-​in-​one.
Though I’m not sure how that balance works at busier times
Best hotel bed I’ve slept in, in years. My room/​suite was spacious and accommodating.
A very expansive free breakfast buffet and guest laundry round it out. As I mentioned the limited services is my biggest issue.

Great location for Convention Center… But Not my 1^st choice!
— I skipped the free breakfast (dirty) and happy hours after the first days experience…
* Starbucks across the street for morning coffee fix!
— Room was ok (basic), but heat kept going up and down… never regulated.
— Service in Bar was sometimes ‘slow’ if at a table… Bartender was good!
I have stayed at Embassy Suites before (again in a month) this one… tired!

Came here for a Dinner meeting, Not impressed with the service here, Horrible actually, and the food isn’t the best as well, had to send it back as well as another person in my party had to send there food back as well.
I ordered the Salmon and asked that they grill it cause i didn’t want it oily. when i got the food is was soaked in oil that they pan fried it with, it was horrible and i could only way one bite before i sent it back.
The server was so hard to get a hold of here we had to ask other servers even the busser to help us in trying to find the waitress.
The drinks here are ok and no complaints there, your better off sitting at the bar and only ordering appetizers if you want good service and good food

Superior service, clean rooms, complimentary full breakfast and manager’s reception. The manager’s reception consists of free drink special, wine, beer, soda, snacks, etc. The location is perfect for all the historical sites. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in DC.

Five stars for the staff! Everything else was meh.
Yes, they offer a free breakfast, but the place was often so crowded, it wasn’t worth the hassle. Yes, they offer a free happy hour, but once you see the masses descending upon the chips and salsa, scooping up piles of snacks and retreating to chairs to wolf them down like a bunch of tiny Gollums, you’ll want to go to the restaurant bar and pay for your drinks. Since all of these «free» things are really just added on to the nightly hotel cost, it’s not much of a bargain.
Almost no one was tipping the staff who work the breakfasts and happy hours, which made me sad. As I said before, the staff here are great. Polite, pleasant, and helpful.
The hotel is located withing walking distance to many great sites and restaurants in DC. You’ll do A LOT of walking, but it’s mostly flat. Don’t bring a car if you can help it, because the parking rates at the hotel are ridiculous. We took two day trips and rented a car each time. There is an Enterprise just a few blocks from the hotel. Be sure to book at least a day ahead, because you’ll save about half the drop-​in rental fee.
Rooms are okay, but no one in our family of 3 slept well at all. It’s very noisy, both inside and outside (the windows do not provide good sound insulation). We were so happy to return home to get a good night’s sleep.
One of the most unpleasant aspects of this hotel was due to the fact that it’s all suites. The hotel naturally attracts a lot of families. Many of these families had children who were not well supervised, to say the least. This is not the fault of Embassy Suites, but I want to mention it, because if you plan to stay here, you’ll need to take that into careful consideration! You might also want to think twice about using the pool.

I stayed at the Embassy Suites in Washington, D.C. for three nights while in town for a conference at the convention center. It’s 1.5 blocks from the convention center making it quick and easy to get there and back. The hotel is conveniently located and within a short walk to lots of restaurants and shopping, making it a great central location.
They offer free breakfast and there is a Stabucks’s across the street. They also offer free cocktails, wine and lights snacks in the evening from 5:30 — 7:30. In ad day when hotels charge you for all the extras, this was a nice perk.
There is a gym and a pool, but I did not use either.
The front desk staff and concierge are all friendly and helpful. There are attendants outside the hotel to help direct your or get you a cab which takes 10 seconds since there are almost a few lined up.
The room was huge for one person with a living room and kitchen area. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet with a large flat screen TV. For some reason CBS was not on an east coast feed, but a central feed, so beware if you want to watch any shows.
A co-​worker stayed at the Renaissance and said it felt like a W when you walked in with dim lighting and fragrance. She felt this hotel looked and felt more like a holiday inn. It’s not modern or chic by any means, and could probably use an update, but it was a great choice given the affordable price and location.

During my stay, this hotel was NOISY! It seems as if they Embassy chain is starting to move away from business travelers and focus on families as there were MANY kids running around this hotel (especially at night). The rooms are clean-ish…I got to enjoy blood stains on my curtains, and when I addressed it with the front desk, I was told «We will make a note of that». NOTHING… NOTHING was done. No offer of a room change, no offer of money back. I was flabbergasted with their flippant attitude towards me. My company has a corporate account with Hilton, so I stay with Hilton quite frequently. I used to always look forward to staying at an Embassy, but this experience has made me start to look at other hotel chains.

I know this is a crappy review but I can’t find any way to leave a «tip» like I used to do for a quick note. Anyways, I’m here for a conference. They have nice fast WiFi but they don’t allow certain types of VPN connections. You can’t count on accessing work from this hotel which was a HUGE problem for me.
Second, I have a car which for several reasons it’s not a good idea for other people to drive, especially in the city (minimal ground clearance, difficult clutch, etc). They only offer valet parking AND they don’t even have their own garage. Who knows where they’ll take your car!
Third, they offered boxed lunches for the conference which had a pretty crappy turkey wrap and a bag of generic potato chips. I guess you can’t complain if it’s free but the only reason it was free is because one of the sponsors paid for it. The retail value, which was displayed next to the boxes, is $ 25!!! Are they cRaZy?

I could go on and on about our fantastic stay @ Embassy Suites in Washington, DC.
I have only recently become a frequent sleeper with this chain, but they have truly impressed me. All the important features to a great visit are check-​marked!
— Clean rooms
— Comfortable beds
— Spacious bathroom
— Separate bedroom w/​door for privacy (parents with children)
— Two flat screen TV’s so I don’t have to be subject to cartoons
— Mini kitchen with mini refrigerator, sink and microwave
— Plenty of dresser and closet space for storage
— Professional front desk staff
— Wifi and business centers
— Within walking distance to many local attractions/​museums/​White House
— Convenient to public transportation/​rails/​bikes
— Indoor pool, fitness center
— Evening cocktails & reception
— Reasonably priced compared to other hotels with same amenities
If that weren’t MORE than enough, the breakfast alone is worth the stay. So many items to choose from it’s almost mind blowing that it’s free.
You’ll find me in the made-​to-​order custom omelet line every morning (sometimes more than once). Here you can get all the usual suspects on your omelet. They also have daily chefs choice omelets (again, all free). During our stay I had several meat-​lovers omelet with bacon, ham and sausage. I further indulged myself by adding sausage gravy over the top on a few mornings. Throw in some hash browned potatoes, a spoon full of corn beef hash and one of a variety of danishes or muffins and we were completely full until dinner. The breakfast is so hearty here it often saved me from buying lunch (it’s not cheap to eat in this city).

FINAL THOUGHTS
This place may not be for the fancy folks, but for those of us who appreciate key words like clean, convenient, comfy and reasonably priced (except for the daily valet charge)… well everything else is just a huge bonus. Forget that it’s stylish and modern with a ton of amenities, just the breakfast alone is worth the stay. You’d be a fool not to consider this hotel for your visit to Washington DC.
SIDENOTE — We did have one small incident with being awakened by loud conversations coming through the ventilation system, but we were compensated one night for our trouble.

An incredible deal for our weekend stay in the city. With the price dropped more than half the week of our trip, my fiancé and I decided to stay in embassy over Hyatt just down the street.
Check in and out were simple and painless. Rooms were specious and clean. There were complimentary happy hours which included light snacks, wine, and well made drinks 5:30 — 7:30 pm which was an extremely rare perk to find in any hotel. And what? Made to order omelette station and hot buffet from 6:30 — 10:30am — kept us so well fed throughout our stay!
Although, walls were thin (our neighbors had a crazy late night), Internet was $ 10 per device, and Phone reception was non-​existent in our room, my fiancé and I really enjoyed our stay at embassy and would highly recommend it to any friends or families visiting — especially now that we are calling DC our home city.

$ 25 for early check-​in before 3pm, but it was worth it to get the great buffet breakfast which included custom omelettes, bacon, hash, waffles, cereal, & juices. You can request egg whites.
Starbucks is across the street but illy is also nearby if you want a true cup of java. Our room had a full dining room, microwave, sink, empty fridge (didn’t have to empty out a mini fridge with all the alcohol).
We can’t wait to try the happy hour this afternoon. When you include the breakfast and happy hour, the value for what you pay for is truly worth the $ 200/​night. Great for a family especially with the 2 TVs in the room.
