Saud N.

Business Owner

Be sure to say hello to Saud Niori, a 15-​year veteran of the hospitality field. His professional career began at Lebanese Taverna where he was promoted from busboy to a General Manager. From there he went on to serve as General Manager at Marvelous Market in Georgetown and Guarapo in Arlington, which is operated by the Latin Concepts company. He has also managed a Caribou Coffee. In other words, he’s worked at a full service restaurant, quick service and coffee shop. All of these experiences prepared him to run Figs.

But nothing could have prepared him for the sudden death of his brother Abdulkader in January of this year. His brother, who was previously head chef at Lebanese Taverna, had taken over ownership of Figs in August 2011, and was becoming a familiar face to the customers. «My brother had big plans for Figs,» says Saud. «But that was not to be.»

When not at the restaurant, Saud spends time with his nieces and nephews. «My brother’s spirit lives on in them, and at Figs,» he
