Great place to go for good, solid pizza. Great for kids and the patio is welcoming for dogs. Perfect place.

Good pizza customization options, but the dough was lacking flavor and was on the dry side. The meatball toppings were not well seasoned and were comparable to Pizza Hut’s beef topping. The restaurant lies in a nice location with a relaxed atmosphere and the prices are very fair.

This place looks like a typical spot where the college kids come after classes or to hangout when one doesn’t really have any specific plans for the night. I had the meatball sub sandwich that came with fries. The sandwich wasn’t spectacular, but the fries were yummy, crunchy goodness. For that, I would definitely come back.

When my boyfriend and I moved to Glover Park in August, Kavanagh’s caught our eye with its Tuesday special(2 drinks including beer, wine, or free refills soda + 2 caesar or house salads + 12″ pizza with 2 toppings for $ 24). We decided to give it a try, and we fell in love with the place. We go there at least once every two weeks, but usually more often. Ambience-wise, it’s a very low-key place, which is great to find in DC. There is nothing pretentious going on here at all. Service meets expectations. But the food… oh the food… We have had the following things: House salad — Don’t bother with this. It’s just not that good for some reason. It’s lettuce mix, mushrooms, tomatoes maybe, and cheese. Nothing wrong with it, just nothing impressive. Caesar salad — Now this is something worthwhile. Everything about it is good. My only complaint is that sometimes there’s a little too much dressing. Pizza — The first time we got a plain Margherita and it was wonderful. Simple but delicious. The crust is great. Now when we get pizza it’s with the Tuesday special, so we get half mushroom and half pepperoni. It’s great. Fettucini Alfredo — Now this was good, but it could’ve used some shrimp or something. However, it’s worthwhile because you get a salad, a TON of pasta, and some delicious garlic bread. It’s a huge serving for the price. Chicken Parm — Okay. Now listen to me. This is the best thing on the menu. My boyfriend got it and was amazed at how good it was. Like the fettucini you get a salad, a TON of chicken and pasta, and garlic bread. But the taste of this chicken parm beats pretty much any other chicken parm or parm-like thing I’ve eaten, including Cheesecake Factory’s Crusted Chicken Romano. If you eat chicken, get this. Seriously. We are going to keep going back here until we move or until something goes terribly wrong. I think it has knocked out the Tenley Angelico’s as my favorite pizza place in DC.

Great option for upper Georgetown/Glover Park: very good pizza, very good subs, very good salads, very good beer selection, decent bar, fair prices. Not a lot of college kids. Only complaint: the half dozen outdoor tables are used by smokers and are pretty gross, and you have to fight your way through that to the front door. Would be nice if they prohibited smoking on the premises.

So I’m on the fence with this place. The pizza is good and the happy hour/beer selection is great, but I’m not the biggest fan of the ambiance. My bf, on the other hand, likes it. It’s a super casual, relaxed atmosphere– very neighborhood pub-like. The one thing I can tell you not to do is get the house salad, which is basically iceberg lettuce with a slice of tomato and a few mushrooms and a sprinkle of cheese that they use for the pizza. Seriously, not worth ordering. But, as I said the pizza is good and the drinks are solid. Probably good for a beer with the boys. Leave your girlfriends at home, or drop them off next door at Bourbon

Decent selection of wood fired pizzas and and a pitcher of yeungling for 17.50. For pizza we tried the 16 inch Greco with olives, chicken for $ 20 it was fairly good, but not too exciting and needed seasoning added. Nice casual amosphere one can sit outside on a patio which is somewhat below sidewalk level and gawk or drool at the beautiful people walking by on the sidewalk above one can sit in the quite large interior dining area and gawk at the other customers, wait staff, or possibly even your companions if you are lucky.

3.5 star. I felt that Kavanagh’s is a real neighborhood pub. I saw more people hanging out at a bar than table. Most of them were alone but didn’t seem lonely. They were either talking to a bartender or other customer sitting next to them. I found that a lottery machine at the bar was amusing. Pizza was made in wood-fired brick oven. Not the best wood-fired pizza but it was good. Plenty of cheese was on the pizza and the crust was chewy and crisp at the same time. If you get bored at home and want to have a glass of beer and slice of pizza with random people who you can chat with, stop by Kavanagh’s pizza pub. And buy a lottery ticket. You never know …

Fun little pizza joint. My friend and I had eaten pizza not too long ago, so we were thinking of going somewhere for salads, when she suggested Kavanagh’s. To start, I ordered the tomato bruschetta and for dinner I ordered the Salmon Caesar salad and she had the grilled chicken salad. The tomato bruschetta was okay. The tomato was fresh and yummy, and the bread was toasty and grilled, but when put together, the bread became soggy and difficult to eat. It was a good idea, but definitely a miss, in my opinion, as an appetizer. However, I gave this place four stars because of my salmon Caesar salad. The salmon was perfectly cooked and had a great crust on the outside, while maintaining its tenderness on the inside — well-seasoned and probably one of the best salmon caesars I’ve had to date. The service was fine and the establishment seemed fun. I also saw that they had some great HH offers, so it’s too bad that I didn’t get to enjoy any of those but if I’m ever back in the Georgetown area, I’ll have to come back!

Good, hot pizza with chewy crust, tons of cheese, and a massive variety of toppings? Check. On the cheap side? Check. Gooey mozzarella sticks fresh outta the fryer with a happy little side of sauce? Check.(Order extra sauce.) Half-price draft beers ALLNIGHTONTHURSDAYS? Check!(I work late, so I always miss happy hours elsewhere). A pint of Troegs for $ 2.50??? Yes, please! A very non-pretentious, atypical DC crowd? Lots of old men? Even though it’s on the edge of Georgetown? Check. What can I say… I’m in love. The service isn’t great, but I love their food, beer and the atmosphere too much to care. My friends and I are regulars, and they’ll easily sit 8 – 10 people with little fuss or complaint. It’s the sort of place where you’re supposed to be a little raucous, and where no one cares how you’re dressed. I really, really need to stop reviewing pizza places when I’m hungry…

Definitely a cool place to grab a pizza. Not terribly crowded(on this particular Friday night). Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The mozzarella sticks were pretty bad. Way too greasy. On the other hand, the pizza was really good! Sausage, peppers and onions. Great thick crust, overall cooked to perfection. A parting caveat. this is NOT a sports bar. There are about five TVs, only two of them over 15′…and they’re all near the bar. Was a bit disappointing that we couldn’t enjoy the game from a table.

Kavanagh’s is one of my favorite spots in DC. It is a casual restaurant in Glover Park that has consistently good food and service. Whether you are going for a quick bite to eat or out to dinner with 15 people, they can take care of you. They have good deals on week nights(I am a huge fan of 2-for-Tuesday). Prices in general are extremely reasonable and the pizza is delicious — some of the best I’ve had in DC! The outdoor patio is great during the warmer months as well. All in all, I have nothing but good things to say about Kavanagh’s!

The pizza was very tasty here. The sauce was delicious and the crust was perfectly done. The wait staff earned every penny of their tip and the prices were very reasonable. My only complaint was that my soda was a little flat.

They try to satisfy the client whatever the cost maybe. Today it was ood. they were a bit tooooo late… in serving my 2 slices and salad. I really do not know what was going on. In any case, time run out, and I had to have it to go, but I was charged nothing. Thanks. I appreciated it. It was the right thing to do, but I was not expecting it. The lady manager was really nice.

As of now, this is my favorite pizza place in DC. Crisp thin brick oven style is served here and it’s done right. They’re sandwiches are not bad either. Sadly, we had an awful waitress who seemed disinterested but I won’t let it affect the grade.

Although I go to Kavanaghs quite frequently(more often than I’d like to share), my most recent visit was last night. I always love this casual, neighborhood pizza place. Mondays are the best here — 2(large) slices of pizza + a pint of beer for ~$ 5. Can’t beat that! Also, their lasagna is to diiiiieeeee for.

Located in a semi-submurged(but surprisingly light) Wisconsin Avenue storefront and formerly known as Facia Luna, Kavanagh’s is a decent place to grab a bite if you’re in Glover Park and crave pizza. Their pizzas are wood-fired; not so unusual these days, but what sets them apart is that they come in three sizes: 6, 8 and 10 slice. I’m partial to the Carciofi(artichoke hearts and sweet red peppers.) It’s not life altering, just good, solid pizza in a friendly neighborhood setting. Nice big bar area with long wooden bar and five drafts including Yuengling and Sierra Nevada, another dozen or so in the bottle(Guiness, Magic Hat #9, Hoegaarden, etc.) plus a great sunken outdoor seating area in front, for those sunny days when you just HAVETO sit outside with pizza and a beer.

Kavanaugh’s is a good neighborhood pizza place, but not a great one I would go out of my way for. They have a good variety of specials, one for each day of the week. We came on a Wednesday, which was lasagna and ½ price wine night. I don’t usually order lasagna from restaurants but it was a good deal. In the end, my boyfriend and I thought it was better than their pizza, which was decent but a little bland. Don’t bother with their side salad– it was literally some iceburg lettuce with cheese and mushrooms(that you can tell they use on their pizza). As much as I want to support local places, I was bummed out when I came on a Labor Day and found out that they weren’t doing their Monday night deal. While I can understand it to an extent, if patrons come out to your restaurant for a special and the place is practically empty, I would oblige. Alas, we decided to go eat next door instead.

I met up with a friend here for lunch the other day. It was a bit of an impromptu lunch date and with the many choices of restaurants in Glover Park, we ended up here. The chalkboard on the sidewalk advertising the specials caught our eye :) It was around 1pm on a monday, so it wasn’t crowded at all. We were seated immediately in one of the booths. I ordered the 2 slices of pepperoni and onion lunch special and my friend got the 2 slices of margherita lunch special. These lunch specials came with a caesar salad and a beverage as well. The salad was good. fresh. My birch beer never showed up, but that wasn’t a biggie. The pizza itself really hit the spot. I boxed up my 2nd slice for a snack later in the afternoon. And each lunch special was around $ 7, so not too shabby. I wouldn’t be opposed to coming back sometime to see what this place is like for happy hour or something. Too bad Glover Park isn’t near a metro for easier access.
