History

Established in 2005.

As owner I have been in the business of electrical work for 35 years. The company was started in response to a perception of poor communication and lack of customer service in the construction field in general. Our goal is to return to a clear path of customer service. With our skill sets, we have been able to do exactly that!

He has been stringing me along for three days-​calls, texts, and the worst of it all, he seemed so nice, knowledgable and reliable. But then he didn’t show up for his appointment, and whenever I would call him he would say :” I’ll be there in a little bit.” Then at some point, he just stopped answering his phone and ignoring my texts. He dragged me from VA to DC with a baby b/​c he would only accept in person payment by check, and then didn’t show up. Totally wasted days of my valuable time. I am very disappointed and would urge you not to hire him. Very unreliable, very rude, very disrespectful. I’m stunned he had 4.5 star rating. Very untrue. I would have never called him if he had a rating he deserves-​1 star!

My assistant tracked Bruce down to do some celling lighting work for my fiancé and I’s condo. Bruce was very professional and easy to work with. Our ceiling needed to be «channeled» and Bruce was able to bring a team together to complete both the electrical and the structural work on the concrete. I would wholeheartedly recommend him.

Bruce and his team were absolutely great. I had a complex light fixture to be installed (though I think this work is small potatoes for this co), and Bruce’s team was very responsive, got the job done quick, and showed up according to all timeframes promised. I had called around a few places and they all quoted me higher without giving me any assistance with special parts I needed. Bruce got all the parts I needed and even though the job went over time, he stuck to the original quote. Highly recommend.

Bruce is amazing! He came by to install an outlet in my washer/​dryer closet very last minute and did such an emaculate job leaving the walls with no marks and the outlet runs beautifully — like it’s always been there. I had him look at a couple other things while he was around and he was so accommodating with his time and a really nice guy to talk with. I will definitely count on him for any electrical repairs in the future.

I needed to have a socket installed for my washer. Bruce was recommended to me from neighbor. Bruce was very responsive to my phone call. Bruce came to look at the job, was able to complete the job the next day at a reasonable price. Bruce completed the job correctly the first time and cleanly. I would recommend you hire Bruce if you would like the electrical work done correctly the first time.

We had Bruce rewire a whole house including a heavy up in PG County and were pleased with this work and time line. This house was being remodeled and we had problems with other contractors which dragged this project. Bruce was understanding and accommodated us in his schedule to get the job done right. He cleared his inspection in one go.

Bruce installed a pair of sconces in my condo, which turned out beautifully. The task was not without complications, due to some surprises in the wall construction and old electrical work in my historical building. While I expect any electrician to know his craft — which Bruce clearly does — his ability to improvise and his grit made the difference in overcoming challenges which inevitably pop up in this old construction. Bruce treated the installation as if it were in his own home, showing as much care for the aesthetics as the electrical/​mechanical task itself. He showed up precisely on time and was tidy. Overall, Bruce was a pleasure to work with and talk to. Definitely would hire again/​recommend.

Bruce Laird of Live Wire Electrical works under the license of JW Electric. We had a terrible experience with Bruce doing our whole-​house rewiring in Adams Morgan. He’s one of those people that give contractors a bad name. He’s slow, full of excuses, spent our deposit on other things and then ran out of $ for materials he owed per the contract, and made lots of errors that cost us lots to fix after the fact. We let his drama go on way too long! Stay away!
