Swift & Gentle Movers

Swift and Gentle did a fantastic job moving us a few weeks ago. The team was extremely responsive via email beforehand and friendly and reliable the day of. They wrapped everything up expertly (all of our furniture, paintings, etc) and packed everything so efficiently. I’ve never been so happy with a moving company! Very reasonably priced, too. Thanks team for a painless and stress-​free move!

We had a small job for Swift & Gentle – moving furniture and boxes within our house – but they treated us with as much courtesy and professionalism as if we’d been a big job for them.
The good experience started from the minute I called to schedule, with friendly and responsive service from Gus and Evans. They were able to fit us in their schedule on short notice even though we had this odd small job. The price was very reasonable and more than worth every darn penny.
The day of the move, the movers showed up right on time and were friendly (not just neutral, but actually friendly). They had hustle and did the job really quickly, but they were extremely careful and didn’t scratch or dent a single thing. Not even a tiny mark on the walls.
The movers were also happily willing to move things around within the space – it wasn’t a «we only touch it once» attitude. They helped my mom figure out where to put her furniture in the space and reposition it in her in-​law suite. They even noticed that an existing rug was slightly askew and offered to reposition it to be square with the wall.
We only recently moved into this house and we used a different moving company for that move. We’re still in discussions with that other mover about how to repair all the damage they did to our furniture. I wish we had used Swift & Gentle last time, and we will absolutely use them for every single move we ever do and will recommend them to all our friends. In fact, I am recommending them to you right now!

The team came in and did a great job of moving my household goods. The job itself was done relatively quickly and I would absolutely go with Swift and Gentle Movers again if I were doing a local love.

These guys are fantastic and I can’t say enough good things about them. They not only delivered what they promised, they went beyond the call of duty! They are the most professional, competent and courteous movers I have ever used in my life. As many have already mentioned, pick them and you will not be disappointed!
I circularized several moving companies for bids on my move, but S&GM were the most responsive and professional in every way. Gus came to my place the same day I called, worked out a complete and very reasonable estimate after touring my home (out of the remaining 3 «highly rated» companies I called, only one called back and gave me a much more expensive, off-​the-​cuff bid). Gus’s approach and professionalism won me over instantly.
Due to my mortgage company’s incompetence, the closing on my new home was a debacle. The scheduled morning closing for my new house was pushed into the afternoon and Gus said «No problem, we can help» and he rescheduled the move to later in the afternoon. Then I received a call that my closing was off and rescheduled for the following day. Gus said «No problem, we can store your furniture for you». Not until 2 days later did I finally take possession of the house and Gus’s team arrived and moved everything to my new home with no fuss or muss. Everything was received intact and I am happy as a clam now. Unbelievably great service… I was so damn lucky to have these guys move me!
Go with Swift & Gentle Movers… these guys are excellent and proved their mettle in more ways than one!

Fantastic service — highly recommend! Gus came out early in the week to do an estimate and worked with me to make sure the price was accurate so there were no surprises. In the end, we came in under estimate. All furniture items were carefully padded and still they were able to work quickly. Very courteous and fun too! Great service and a great start to our new home!

Gus and Evans did the free estimate — they were very courteous, friendly and genuine, and spot on with the estimate. I originally vacillated because I didn’t know if I was going to need them to do a «pack» or not — don’t worry about it. The estimate is just an estimate, you only get charged for the actual hours, so if they estimate the pack and then you pack yourself, you’ll save a little money. The movers, Ranga, Antonio, Kenny and Roberto friendly, quick and smart. Some moving companies will pack everything, including full trashcans and kettles full of water. Not these guys, with minimal guidance and labeling they knew which things to pack and what to leave. The ultimate triumph was at the new house when they managed to move my piano in despite the step slope of our new backyard — I didn’t know how they were going to do it, but they did it. Again, they were swift but gentle, very friendly and well priced.

Swift and Gentle has handled four moves for me. They are always on time, careful with my stuff, and quick. I realize the majority of these things are implied in the name, but I am here to tell you that Swift and Gentle lives up to its billing! With the number of times i have used them I can vouch as much as anyone for their ability. Gus and his team are awesome and always deliver. I highly recommend.

We had to schedule two separate load and unloading jobs during a difficult snowy/​icy weekend. They were fast, efficient, friendly, and adaptable to changing schedules. While they did show up late for one of the jobs, they were resourceful about making up for lost time by bringing an extra guy. Most importantly, after lots of research, I found they had the best prices.

We had a large and heavy dresser which was impossible to get up the narrow stairs. Swift and Gentle Movers did a great job and hauled it up from the balcony. Gus and all the team were very professional, polite and friendly. I would definitely recommend them.

Gus is a very sincere and honest businessman. Even though I had problems in the moving, Gus took care of it and fixed all my concerns. I really encourage you guy to work with such a nice person.

Really stellar experience. We had them come the day before to do a «pack,» and they were unbelievably fast and helpful in packing up the kitchen (very carefully) and other odds and ends. The day of the move was just as expert — truly «swift and gentle» — even when it required more advanced steps such as taking apart my bed and desk and putting it back together in the new place.
Add to all that that Gus is a very nice person to work with and stands by his work. In sum, the quality was unmatched. Highly recommended.

Swift & Gentle movers did a fantastic job last weekend on our move. We had 27 boxes and lots of furniture and they were able to move us out of our old apartment and into our new apartment in about 4 hours. They were so professional, friendly, and smiled the whole time, even though we hardly lifted a finger. They were careful with our belongings and very efficient with their moving methods. We have a lot of big glass pieces and everything made the move without an issue. Thankfully, they were well prepared, because we would have been lost if not for all of the furniture pads they brought and the shrink-​wrapping they did for us! Gus and his team are a joy and I love supporting entrepreneurs, especially when their service is so superior. A two-​man crew — Nathan and TC — worked smoothly and quickly on a horribly cold day. They were helpful, unflappable and agreeable. A potentially stressful day turned into one in which I asked myself «why was I sweating the move?»

Moved from DC to New Jersey recently, and used Swift & Gentle to haul our stuff up the East Coast. Everything about this moving experience with Swift & Gentle was terrific. From the first conversation with Gus, everything was positive and easy. Gus was incredibly easy to communicate with, and was professional and considerate. He worked with us on an estimate, helped us find ways to keep it in our price range, and gave us excellent advice. When his moving crew arrived in DC to pack the truck, they were quick, polite, and friendly. Everything arrived in New Jersey without so much as a scratch, and the guys took extra care to ensure that the walls didn’t get dinged up one bit as they unpacked the truck. I hope to not be moving again anytime soon, but if I had the need, I’d hire Swift & Gentle again in a heartbeat.

Gus and his team were kind, efficient, organized and took great care of my belongings — all for an affordable price. I had a delayed closing and Gus was extremely flexible in both getting me out of my apartment and back into my new house working around my schedule.

I found my dream apartment… a week before new years and needed to move in the day after the new years holiday. I called a few other highly rated movers from around town, but all of them were booked solid for the week and/​or wanted to add a massive premium for the holiday week. To add an additional complication to this equation, I needed a mover that could store my belongings for a few days due to my apartment not being ready until after the holiday, despite needing to vacate my unit by the 31^st.
I called Swift & Gentle later in the evening, desperate at this point for a decent mover. I got on the phone and discussed my move with Gus, who coordinates everything. What a pleasant surprise! Gus is the consummate professional and assured me that everything would be taken care of, including storing my things! I called the day before Christmas Eve, and Swift & Gentle came the Monday afterwards in the afternoon.
Their movers were kind, professional, and really went the extra mile to make sure that my things were wrapped appropriately for the move. They came with plenty of moving pads and supplies. There were 2 men, and they had everything wrapped and loaded from my studio apartment in under an hour and a half. Wow! (I have a lot of crap — awkwardly shaped crap– to move so this was a shock to me).
Bringing my belongings back was equally as pleasant — everything was unloaded from the truck with the same care that went into moving it the first time around. All of my belongings were in perfect shape. The best part? The entire move was exactly what was quoted to me — not a cent more. I’ve heard horror stories with movers going way over the estimate, but it was refreshing to see that what I actually budgeted from the estimate was the exact cost after the move.
I was skeptical about hiring movers because a) they are expensive and b) I have always moved my own things and c) I am incredibly cheap. However, taking time + personal resources into account, the cost of S&G movers (which is incredibly reasonable, FYI) was absolutely worth the expense.
The only mild downside, as other reviewers had mentioned, was they were a little bit late/​outside their scheduled window for moving. Nothing egregious — but if you are planning on using S&G, I would assume they are coming towards the end of the window you are given. However, they more than made up for this with their level of service.

The day of my move, I knew I didn’t have to worry about anything based on the reviews I read. For one they arrived on time to my apartment, very professional and extremely organized. At that point I knew I made the right decision and I know that in the future I will definitely be using Swift and Gentle movers.

We hired this company for a very straight forward move. Gus provided excellent customer service over the phone. He answered all of my questions, made himself available for follow up, and was very thorough in following through on the quoted price.
The day of the move, the guys showed up late. However, they were very apologetic and were able to load the truck carefully in record timing. All of the guys were nice and respectful. They unloaded the truck and placed all of the furniture and boxes exactly to our instructions. There was no lolly gagging around.
Despite the time issue, we had an excellent overall experience. Very professional, reasonably priced and reliable.

We couldn’t have picked a better company for our move! Swift & Gentle was able to get my move scheduled within a few days of calling them, on a Saturday no less. The quote I got was great, but still beyond my budget. Gus worked with me to get to a number we could do comfortably, since my hubby and I were moving the little stuff ourselves.
When the movers arrived (on time), they were courteous and introduced themselves one after another, shaking our hands. It might sound like a little thing, but that personal touch did a lot to allay our moving fears. I immediately trusted them to do the job well and protect our items.
They commenced to carefully wrapping our fragile Japanese coffee table set with loveseat and arm chair, being extra careful because we expressed our concern even over the phone. They then disassembled our bed, baby’s crib, etc and even broke down a shelf for us that wasn’t coming with us. Very kind!
Once we arrived to our new home, the crew paid extra attention to each box’s labeling and placed them in the appropriate rooms. They got all the couches in as a week, including one to the basement and another to the third floor. We had a little hiccup with our printer (the lid was slightly off track when it was delivered) and, after they left, we noticed that my husband’s desk in his music studio was assembled incorrectly. Gus came back out to our home personally to tend to both areas in record time, driving from DC.
I highly, highly recommend Swift & Gentle. They go above and beyond and, even if something is goes amiss, it’s slight and immediately treated as a priority. You can’t ask for more. I hope I never have to move again (lol), but if I do, I will definitely use their service.
P. S. I forgot to mention that while the movers were breaking down our bed to be moved to the new house, they found an envelope of money that had slipped in somehow. They immediately gave it back to my husband, who didn’t even realize it was misplaced. Amazing! Swift & Gentle… Trustworthy. Doesn’t have the same ring to it, but a good third name to consider if they expand more ;)
