Bloom Window Fashions

Matthew came to our house to work with us. He made it *easy* to schedule an appointment.
I had several ideas about what I wanted in the house. He took those ideas and showed us what we could have. He then showed us how we could improve on the ideas.
We were moving into a newly reconstructed home and had no window coverings. He supplied temporary coverings and installed in two stages: the first installation was just the bedrooms. The second installation was the rest of the house.
He made it easy to work with all the staff. I love my window coverings.

I don’t usually write reviews, but I felt guilty not taking the time in this instance, because I was so blown away by what an amazing company this is. The staft is profiecient, personable, knowledgable and efficient. From start to finish, the entire process of doing business with Bloom Windows Fashions, was organized and executed at a level of perfection that one seldom experiences these days. If they sold stock, I would invest. On top of all that, they still priced the job competitively. I can’t think of a single area in need of improvement. Hat’s off.

I wanted to add plantation shutters to two large windows in the front of my home. I did some research first on the type of shutters I wanted. Then after some online searching, found Bloom Window Fashions. From start to finish, an absolutely fantastic experience.
I stopped by the showroom and talked to Richard about what I was looking for. We set up a time for Matt to come by to take measurements. I got a prompt email confirmation with Matt’s photo. Matt arrived on time, and was very thorough in talking through the various options. My home is an old brownstone in the South End, and the windows have slightly irregular measurements (i.e. not perfectly rectangular). Matt was very careful to note all the details.
I had done some research on the pricing, so I was pretty comfortable with the quote. But I still got a second quote from a very good local business that specializes in shutters. I think they may do more custom shutters, so they weren’t quite as knowledgeable about the Hunter Douglas line. And the quote was just a bit higher than Bloom.
The shutters arrived on time, and we set up an installation date about a week later. The installation went very smoothly, and Matt and Jason worked efficiently and cleaned up everything nicely. They sealed around the casing for the shutters, so they look like they were built right into the window frame. It looks phenomenal. I knew the shutters would work well for privacy in my parlor-​level home. But what surprised me was how well the white shutters slightly reflect the lighting in the room at night. So it brightens the room very nicely.

I needed solar screening shades for our large south facing windows, but didn’t want to feel all shut in. Impressed by reviews found on-​line, I had Matthew Bloom come out and educate me about various product lines. Hunter Douglas SheerWeave fit our needs perfectly. I liked the intelligent presentation as well as the integrity of materials, workmanship, and service orientation. Installation process was great: on time, professional, clean, and attention to every detail. We love the shades and get lots of compliments. Expect we’ll do more business with them soon.

It is really-​really hard to explain in words HOW much I was impressed by Bloom Window Fashions and, in particular, by Richard Bloom.
Our project involving the most energy-​efficient Hunter Douglas shades was rather pricey, and we decided to shop around a bit to get the best deal. First, a consultant from to 3 Day Blinds came to our place and priced out the project. Then we found that Costco offers Hunter Douglas as well, and we asked their representative to come to our place. Taking into account Costco’s lower prices on almost everything, we thought that they should be able to beat 3 Day Blinds. And, indeed, they offered us unbeatable price (as we thought) which included 2 years of service provided directly by them. Plus Costco offers 10% Cash back card for such purchases. 3 Day Blinds’s lowest offered price was 20% higher than the Costco price (even after we got back to them with a quote by Costco and asking to match the price). If you spent thousands of dollars, 20% comes to significant amount. OK, then we had a consultant from InnuWindow. They guy priced the shades even higher than 3 Day Blinds. When we asked about discount, he said that it is final price and start talking about their reputation, service, that they ‘had to be cheap’ (didn’t get in what sense, actually), etc. I absolutely agree that it is good to go with local, but it depends at what price.
OK, that was introduction, though a bit long. We found Bloom Window Fashion rather accidentally, via web-​search. We noticed that they offer price matching, and decided to try that, To be honest, without any hope that they can be even close to Costco. I came to their office and asked Richard to price our rather specific project. First of all, I have say, that even before asking to match Costco price, price Richard gave me was by far better than InnuWindow and 3 Day Blinds price. It was approximately equal to Costco price but without cash back from Costco. I was really surprised by that! I’m always glad to support local businesses and, moreover, the service will be provided locally, if something happens with blinds, but still 10% cash back at Costco is more important, at least for me. And I decided to ask if Richard can match the Costco price with cash back. Initially, Richard said ‘no’, that it is too much. OK, I thought, the price matching promise is just for flashy advertising… But then Richard said that they will need to think about that, and asked my e-​mail. I left it, again, without any hope. And, guess what happened? Richard sent me e-​mail with a promise that they can match the Costco price even with their cash back! Later on Costco agreed to make a small adjustment, and Bloom Window Fashions again matched it!
To conclude, what I got is the lowest possible price! Plus I got life-​time warranty which will provided not by Hunter Douglas directly located who knows where, but via local merchant. Plus I supported not the major warehouse store, but locally-​owned business that actually has long-​lasting (since 1924) relationships with clients. And, the last but not the least, Bloom Window Fashion not only offers very competitive prices upfront (checked by myself), but also their price matching promise is not just advertising trick — they are really ready to match the price of the competitor. If you have any window project in your mind, don’t hesitate to go to Bloom Window Fashion to get best possible price and service.

This is a small family company and they are doing all the right things to create an honest, solid, long-​lasting business. The customer service, quality of the product, the speed of fabrication and installation, and the quality of installation were all excellent. I would absolutely use them again and cannot recommend them highly enough.
I called Bloom Windows for a quote for all my 1^st floor windows of my house, and all four of our bathrooms.
Mr. Bloom senior invited me into the showroom in Watertown and explained the many different options available. The showroom is small but seems very complete and well laid out. I know nothing about window treatments but got a pretty good sense of things from Mr. Bloom.
Mr. Bloom’s son, Matt, then came to my house and took some measurements. We talked about the uses of the various windows, and I made some decisions based on book full of samples. I did not feel pressured to pick higher end products or cover more windows. He has a pretty good eye for what will look best and I think he prioritizes this over his own wallet. Matt then sent a quote.
Then I went to a Hunter Douglass dealer in the Design Center. They had me measure my own windows, then sent me a quote higher than Bloom’s.
I brought my husband to the showroom and Matt made time to see us, even though he was on his way somewhere. He patiently re-​explained everything to my husband. He worked with us to get our price down to a number we could manage.
They custom made all the blinds and shades we needed in about two weeks and had it installed right away. Everything was very smooth. Our windows look great — they are clearly very high quality. The way they are installed is very clean, there are no awkward edges. Matt clearly thought about what he was doing and did it well. It is so nice to have great shades, we feel very private and safe in our home at night and open to the sun during the day.
They offer to come to the house for 1 year after installation to field any problems. After that, the price for them to come out for repairs remains the same forever.
Window treatments was one of the last things we did on our full renovation of our home, and Bloom Window stands out among all the people we worked with along the way.
