La Casa De Pedro

So I posted this comment/​review on their fan page but I feel like it would help others when they go there. Being a working professional in driving distance of this restaurant it’s always a bigger commitment to go here vs somewhere in walking distance of the Allston/​Brighton area.
I go here with work coworkers maybe 1−2x a month for lunch because they have a big menu, great drinks and food and it’s something different. I’ve generally had a great time here for dinner when I used to live in the area, and when I started working the area we figured let’s try them out for lunch. The last time two times we went we were all very disappointed by how slow and immature the service was. We chalked up the first time to just being in a big group and we’ll let that go, but the 2^nd time we went with the same server and only 4 people it was the same issues again — so we figured the 3^rd time if it was like that again we are done with this place no matter how good the food is.
Luckily for us we had a new server this time and we great lunch here, our server Pedro was very attentive, cheerful, helpful and always made sure we were taken care of — so much better than the last time we were here for lunch. Someone should give Pedro a raise or promotion because he delivers heroic service that makes guests want to stay and spend more money.

Amazing drinks and food. This is a tropical oasis in the dog days of winter. Good atmosphere and pleasant staff. Free parking always a bonus.

I’ve been here a number of times but La Casa De Pedro disappoints with each return. This last visit was the last straw.
My boyfriend and I arrived around 6:30 p.m. — it was busy but not packed; there was no wait. Our waiter, an older gentleman, took our drink order right away. We each ordered a cocktail. Fast forward about 20-​minutes and we’re still waiting for our drinks and for our server to come and take our dinner order. After walking by our table at least 5 times, never making eye contact with us, he finally decided to stop at our table and take our order (still no drinks).
I asked him about the drinks. He replied, «Oh yeah.» He took our order then brought the drinks. It’s about 7:10 p.m. Our food doesn’t come until 8 p.m.
We ordered a Quesadilla de Carne Asada and Chuleta de Pedro (pork chop). The food was fine — the pork chop dry — but not worth the insane wait. Our waiter never stopped by once to ask us if we need anything else, more drinks or how our food tasted.
This will be the last time we dine here.

Tucked away in the Arsenal. Delicious eats and solid customer service.

I received a event with 30 people the one that the call buffet, I paid $ 51 each one. They put only one round appetizers, the people was looking for more appetizers. I asked one of the service he told me that he need to ask «the chef» then I asked to another service his told me that hi need to asked the guy who it is charge. The appetizers never came. The bought another appetizers that no was in the menu that I picked. I called on the fallowing day and one of event manage told me, «the buffet that they of offering only one round appetite and one plate that they already set out for each one. He can no do anything for me about it.» I told him too that my mother bought a beer and the was charge like she bought 5 beers. He told me «that can happen in a event like this.

Back to Casa again, my new favorite place. As always the food was amazing and so were the drinks. I love the bartender Mary, not only does she make fabulous drinks but is she also always very attentive and friendly. I love a bartender that makes sure I’m never sitting with an empty glass.

Dim lighting and great food. Came here with some friends and when we walked in it was like you were in a different country. Their décor is so unique and out there that you could spend so much time just looking around at everything (I was like an owl turning its head in every direction trying to see everything).
All right now let’s talk about the food because let’s be honest that’s why people read these things for the most part :)
Ordered the:
+Stephanie’s nachos: they should rename them my nachos. They were packed with everything you could think of and they didn’t disappoint. I don’t know why they made it like a tower on a small plate because it got on the table a lot when you tried to climb that beast, but very delicious nonetheless (it’s like playing jenga with nachos). The pulled pork was definitely better than the chicken (too dry). Great starter to share with the table — I highly recommend it! :)
+Steak quesadilla: I was warned not to get chicken because it was dry and based on the chicken in the nachos, it was a good call. However, the steak was nice and juicy with great flavors that connected well with my tastebuds. After the nachos, I could only eat about ²⁄₄ pieces of the quests all before dying. It also comes with fried yuka, plantains, rice, guacamole and sour cream (all fantastic!).
Overall, great environment to come with friends and the food will satisfy you without breaking a sweat! Enjoy and don’t be afraid to explore their extensive menu :)

Drove all the way from the city with a party of 9. Had a reservation and they could not accommodate a sleeping baby on a stroller anywhere in the restaurant.
Will not be returning there.

This place tries a little too hard and the wait staff is a little more style over substance. The ambiance is a bit cheesy, with their illuminated palm trees but overall it’s pretty nice. And while the food was delicious, I’m not sure it earned it’s 20+ dollar tag.

Went here on a date and really enjoyed myself. Location: The place is full and I mean full of plants and décor, and it located in an old factory and has awesome super high ceilings. Pedro himself was hanging out with customers at the bar and obviously takes pride in his restaurant. He mingled and visited many tables and it seemed to me he knew everyone! A.k.a Lots of repeat customers.
Food and drinks: While the drinks were small and had too much ice, the paella was amazing. We also had some yummy appetizers. Our waiter was attentive, which was great because it was a busy Saturday night.
I would recommend and return to Pedro’s.

I love this place!
They make the best hot sauce.
I recommend the empanadas, plantains (so sweet), the pollo asado, the chicken quesadilla and the fish tacos.
Don’t get me wrong, not every dish is great and definitely don’t go here for a salad, but in general it’s a nice place with some delicious authentic food. The staff is quiet but polite and they have great music depending on the weekend.
WARNING: The hot sauce is not for the faint hearted!

I have been going here for years. The steaks are excellent and full of flavor. I also really enjoy the atmosphere and service. Definitely will continue to come by often. Thanks for another great meal tonight.

Half decent, overpriced food. Apathetic staff.

Went for lunch yesterday. The décor is lovely. The waitstaff is accommodating, if a bit quiet. Plantains are fab. Yucca tapas need some additional sauce, cilantro sauce is oily and flavorless. Housemade hot sauce is divine and should be bottled and sold commercially! Addictive stuff! Quest fundido had great flavors but cooled too quickly and would benefit from a more traditional dip presentation. Margaritas were absolutely perfect and I’ll definitely be back for more of those.
All in all a lovely place for drinks and snacks with great prices and accomplished, professional waitstaff. I’ll be back for more margaritas and those marvelous plantains!

We were looking forward to some decent Spanish cuisine but our taste buds ended up slightly disappointed. Their food and service was about average, nothing really stood out.
We ordered the following:
mango sangria — barely tasted mango
seafood ceviche to start –served with plantain chips. The ceviche was more salty than refreshing for the summer
steak with chimichurri sauce — decently seasoned but slightly overcooked
trout topped peppers, onion and fried calamari — gently fried and mildly seasoned
Both entrees were served with rice, plantains and fried yucca. The rice was just too salty (think the chef went extra heavy handed with the salt shaker).
We managed to get full but not satisfied. Just one of those missed the spot meals.

My boyfriend and I have been coming here for a long time but we decided to not come back here for a long time. The food here is pretty good but the service sucks. Each time we come here we deal with staff that is not too friendly, but we keep coming back because the food is pretty good. In our most recent experience, we had to hunt down our waiter to ask for hot sauce when our entrees came and he never ever bothered to ask us if everything with out food was good. When we finally did get his attention he still never asked us if everything was good. It was not till the very end that he gave us a half ass, «thanks guys,» as he brought out the check.
The staff is just not friendly and you definitely do not feel like you are the customer when you are there. This has not been the first time we walk out feeling like we got bad service.

Can’t believe I’ve lived in Watertown for a year and not stumbled il upon this place. The food it’s outstanding. Had carve asada quesadilla today– check out my photo. It came with a rice and bean mixture and savory and sweet plantains on the side. Very filling. I almost never eat the rice and beans but devoured these. Can’t wait for the patio to open. Hot sauce is amazing– housemade and available for purchase. My bar mate advised the salads are amazing and the short ribs are her favorite.

A solid place for Latin American food. Great place to go for meals or for happy hours. I’ve come a couple of times for happy hours and enjoyed the appetizers greatly. They also have great mojitos and other cocktails too.
The arepas and empanadas are always solid choices. The yucca fries and plantains are probably my favorite thing there. I’ve had their quesadillas before as well, which is very filling and comes with lots of fix-​ins on the side (salsa, sour cream, guac).
Service has always been great too.

LOVE IT here– just wish it was closer.
We used to frequent the one in Bedford but it closed.
The food here is amazing and the staff is top notch.
Can get busy so please plan accordingly.
Drinks are so yummy too– cant get enough of their mojitos.

Décor /​Ambiance:
High ceiling, lots of big plants, low lit gives this place almost a resort feel. Perfectly decorated for this style of foods. There was a Latin style band playing as we were finishing our meal. They sounded great and added to the Latin charm. Skilled dancers on the floor when we left, wish we had more time to watch them.
Greeting:
Very friendly and prompt. Nothing more awkward than walking into a place and seeing an empty host desk. Not here, full team on point when we walked in. We arrived 15 minutes early for our reservations and was seated promptly. I would not have minded wetting the whistle at the bar if we needed to wait because it looked like a nice place to sit especially if you want good seats to see the band.
Menu mix:
My Wife and I were looking for something different and we got it here. A great variety of foods from the standards to the creative twists.
Water /​Bread service
No bread with this concept and the water tasted great. No bleachy taste here. Tasted almost as good as purified water. When you are seated there is a bottle of sparkling water and bottled water on the table. The Wifey and I always choose tap.
Drink pour:
My Wife got the tequila flight samplings and a presidente beer. Nice pour on the flights. I got a a really good aged rum and wasn’t at all disappointed. Nice and «warming» after coming in from the cold
Food quality:
We loved it! We started with the Yucca Fries with a cilantro sauce and the special ceviche which was a blend of whit fish, mussels and shrimp with crispy plantains. I could have had two of the ceviche because it was that good.
Service:
Very friendly and informative. She was quick to realize we had not been there before and was great with suggestions. I noticed that she did not simply point to the most expensive rums, tequila or food choices on the menu. She pointed out honest favorites and we were not at all disappointed. She was very charming and made us feel quite welcomed. For entrees I got the grilled skirt steak with chimichurri sauce. My wife got the (Beef Short Ribs) which were braised in wine with roasted onions, tomatoes, and jalapeños. Both dishes came with rice & beans, plantains and yucca fries. It was fantastic!
Value:
I think the value was great. Left feeling nice and full and for what we got it was a nice check to singh off on. Nothing worse than signing off a check that’s high and you know right well your going to be raiding the refrigerator before bed… Not leaving here your not. Nice generous portions. We skipped dessert which also kept the bill down. I am sure they had some sweet treats but the food is filling so we opted out.

Would I return:
ABSOLUTELY! In fact we can’t wait to.
Comments & Tips:
Don’t order the yucca fries as an app as you may also be getting this on your entrée plate as well. Check first to see if your entrée may already have the fries because that’s going to be a lot of «filling» yucca. We got it as an app not knowing it was also coming on our plates. Needless to say we didn’t finish it all. This place is great for groups to as there were some big tables having birthday parties.
