The Arsenal Center For the Arts

We in Belmont, Watertown and Newton are so lucky to have this in our area. The shows they bring to this theater are always of a high caliber and well put together. The classes are unique and taught by skilled instructors that make the classes informative, fun and exciting.
Kids have a blast at the performances and events. Many «kid friendly» shows and activities to be found. An affordable entertainment option for singles or families, retires and couples alike.

Since there was no separate place for the Gift Shop, I thought I would start one here. Let me start by saying that even though I gave the place 3 stars, I still think it is a great gift shop. I wanted to only shop local this year for the holidays. Since I always stop off here at some point I started my holiday shopping here. I always end up buying something from here and this year was no different — I bought earring from my niece and a scarf for my sister-​in-​law — but, It is just inconsistent.
Some stuff are so ultra reasonable and other stuff is outrageous (no rhyme or reason). I totally get that things are priced according to difficulty, materials, and artist. But some of the jewelry I could do with my basic skill of jewelry making. Another scarf I looked at was similar to one I got for my friend at another art shop but it was $ 22 cheaper (same style and material). The flow of the shop doesn’t make shopping easy. I feel like if I turned around too quick, I would knock something over (and it is a good sized shop).
I will still come back here, especially when here for Open Studio or a play, and I love the woman who runs it.

A gem of Watertown. I have gone here a couple of times for music and improve. The theaters are small and cozy so you get a great experience.
Most recently I took a pottery course with Tina Grant that was great. The class was fine, the people were nice, and I actually made a few things that I wouldn’t be embarassed to put out on my table. There is a shop with artists’ works for sale that would make great gifts.
They have a lot of kids programs and the lobbies have nice displays of kids and adult artwork to check out.
The parking is easy and it’s also right next to Pedro’s for a margarita or Panera for a quick bite.

The Arsenal Center For The Arts is a truly unique art and theater venue that offers live music, live theater, creative classes for the whole family, school vacation workshops, birthday parties and special programming for kids. there is a small gallery boutique located on the first floor with lots of nice creative jewelry, art work and creative gifts, the building has a free art gallery that consite of three floor that changes every six weeks or so, there is two theater in the building one seats 340 and the other 150 i have seen plays in both and it is a wonderful experience i would highly recommend this place!

This theater is so cute! I saw a show in the Black Box, which is small but a very nice change from huge theaters. Performances are much more interesting when seen up close. The art hanging everywhere is fun to look at before the show or while you’re milling about afterwards. I’ve never been in the upstairs theater, but it seems nice as well. I’m a fan of their new location!

I saw a show at the Black Box Theater (the smaller stage downstairs) today. (To be specific, the show was «Santaland Diaries» by Downstage at New Rep. It was a good show.) It was first time I’ve been inside of the theater since it opened maybe couple years ago. The theater seats maybe 100 people, setting was very cozy. Obviously very new, and very nice. Plenty of parking, so if there is a good show on, it is much easier to drive there than to go into Boston… of course, if you do go to Boston, you can have nice dinner before and a drink at a nice place afterwards, (and some would ague that that is part of theater experience…) but there are few choices around.
