I love the Wok! My family started going when it opened, which may be about 30 years ago. I moved away, came back 3 years ago, and the owner still remembered me after 15+ years. The food is very good — the soups esp. never disappoint: the hot and sour and the sizzling shrimp soups are amazing. The portions are decent and there is a lot of variety. The service is friendly and efficient. When they serve fresh orange with the fortune cookies, it’s a nice touch. All my friends that I have taken love it.

My husband and I ate at The Wok two evenings ago and are still suffering stomach distress which came on shortly after being there. We have made a formal report to the Wellesley Board of Health. While we were at the restaurant, I noticed that my chicken with lemon dish did not have much of the lemon taste and that the chicken was very hard and truly unpalatable. This dish is one I have had in a number of Asian restaurants and it is always very tasty. It seemed as if the chicken had been cooked a previous time and that they heated it up for my dish. It was the worst Asian meal I ever had. My husband remarked that his pad thai dish was not very tasty as well. We will never return to this restaurant and do not recommend it to anyone interested in good Asian food. But most of all, we question their sanitary procedures.

Love it here. Good traditional Chinese food. A little expensive though. But always enjoy their peanut button noodles, scallion pancakes, hot and sour soup, etc! All the classics.

We ordered food from the wok for our wedding. This is an excellent choice. The staff there are very friendly and helpful, and they make sure that our needs are met. Our guests loved the food! Thank you so much!

The Wok is our«go to» for Chinese food in the metro west area and their food and service are always superb. Where many Chinese restaurants overdo the sauce I feel these folks use a more delicate touch. I know that(American) Chinese food is a subjective thing and one’s palette is tuned to what is familiar but in my travels everyplace else pales in comparison. I’ve been to China 4 times in the past year and they don’t have a clue! For the sake of world peace they should eat at the Wok!

I really liked it here. The food was very good. The orange chicken was good, the lo mien was yummy, and the chicken fingers were good. The service was good too. Will come back.

Probably one of the… If NOTTHEWORST restaurant in a area where people that are loaded with cash live at. Gave it a chance driving by it and wondered why it was always empty. The food came within five minutes of me ordering it. Which is a HUGEREDFLAG if it is supposudley made«fresh» im telling you, if you want good chinese food. Might as well get your usual takeout because this is the same quality you get, and to top it off. It costs more. Dont waste your time. Food was jist simply bad and old. F’n waitress was rude as hell. Didnt even understand what i was saying as if i wasnt speaking clearl english. Anywho. Its wellesley. A big money town. And this restaursnt does not provide wellesley quality food…

When we sat down, we requested to see a Chinese menu. Then the owner of resturant came and said, we don’t have one, but you can just tell me what you want, we can cook everything. Yes, they did. The did cook everything, but everything taste like the same shit.

Standard Chinese restaurant. Nothing special and the food is reliably greasy but if you’re really craving Chinese takeout this will hit the spot.

My husband turned me onto this place! The lunch specials are amazing! Super quick in and out in 30 minutes. The owners are very friendly. I recommend the sesame beef lunch special $ 8.95 and there crab Rangoons rock!

Really good and filling w/o the typical bloated feeling you have with Chinese food and great dessert… probably best in the immediate area and typically not too crowded in the restaurant def worth checking out

Pretty good place. I’ve driven by here many times, and not realized there was a restaurant here. I just saw the rug place next to it. Décor-wise, it won’t win any awards. Same with ambiance. It looks like most other Chinese restaurants out there. English did not seem to be most of the staff’s forte. We asked a question of someone cleaning tables, and they knew enough English to say the server would be over shortly. Not really a knock, more an FYI. Food-wise, it was decent. I ordered the crispy beef as spicy as they would make, and my wife ordered vegetarian moo shi, and we split some white rice. My beef actually had enough spice to it that I could taste it, unlike most other restaurants which make it white-guy spicy, which is to say not very. My wife thought the moo shi was fine. As a note, entrees do not come with rice, and I found the prices a bit higher than I would expect for the amount of food given. Additionally, most of the food is gluten-free, which is always nice. All in all, a solid meal.

This placed used to be the best around, but sadly it’s gone down hill. There was no flavor to the food, food was not warm, and a long piece of hair was in the dish. Gross!!! I used to love this place, so not sure why it changed. Sadly, I won’t go back again.

Quiet but good night here. They had this cool Asian beer. My spicy fried chicken dish was really good except you have to order rice or vegetables separately. My friend got this cool chicken as well with a special fried rice. Good stuff overall. Not sure what the pineapples and ice cubs were at the end… seriously…what was that?

Is this food or plastic? Service is whatever. Just like any other chinese menu, there are many options… but I mean, the food taste horrible. Just tastes like itz been sitting out for too long and/or plastic. Not worth the time and money. Location is right by the entrance of 9E. It is basically a one-way street, so it is extremely difficult to get out to the street… Heard drinks were good tho!

My mom and dad used to come here waaay back in the day when they first started dating — like 25 years ago… We saw it as we drove to buy a car at Wellesley Toyota and stopped by the other night. It was FABULOUS. The waitstaff was awesome. The ambience was great. The lazy Susan — at our table of 6 was so useful. The menu was almost too extensive. The specials sounded awesome and on top of it all they sing happy birthday on birthdays. Okay — the food — appetizers were great. Chicken teriyaki was SOOO good. Dumplings were crisp and flavorful. Boneless spare ribs actually tasted like pork. Mooshi shrimp was great and I forget what else we had, but the chicken with cashew nuts was my favorite by far. Highly, highly recommend. Fried ice cream was on point. Try it if you’ve never before.

First I need to point out that The Wok has a great seating lay out. I was expecting a typical Chinese restaurant but my expectations were exceeded. The staff was very friendly. I’ve never had peking duck before and my boyfriend had been trying for a while to get me to try it. I was not disappointing. The peking duck came already cut in pieces and it was fun to put together in the wrap with plum sauce and cucumber. All the food around us look delicious and I will definitely go back to try something different.

This is one of the only reviews I’ve written where I wish I could give more than five stars. I’d give ten if I could. This place is literally the best Chinese food I’ve ever had. But to top that, the people there– this is not an understatement– are the friendliest business owners I’ve ever known. I hadn’t been there in literally ten years, but went on a whim and witnessed the owner greeting people coming in by name and asking how specific family members were and how graduations had gone etc. To know your regulars by name and their family members too, that’s rare these days. That was just the first part. The friend I went with was having her birthday come up in a few days(our waitress Anita noticed when she ID’ed us). So after we finished our meal, completely unprompted and of her own doing, she brought out a scoop of fried ice cream with a candle and whipped cream and said«We’re celebrating a little early.» WHODOESTHAT? I was amazed and honestly moved. Anita was the nicest waitress I have ever met in my life. Never rushed us, gave suggestions for food, and the birthday thing was just another level entirely. This is my new go to Chinese place. I haven’t really even talked about the food but it is insanely good. Best lo mein I have ever had, best orange chicken as well. Everything was fantastic. And their drinks are great too. Their scorpion bowl for one is definitely big enough to share and delicious too. Go here, get take out, do something! They’re the best in the business!

The Wok really is as good as it gets! It was my wifes birthday and we had a late change of plans, so we Unilocaled local Chinese and the Wok came up. The restaurant is on a side road from Route 9 and easily missable. We were greeted and sat immediately — my wife spotted some straws on the way in with flowers and characters on and commented to the waitress as we placed our order and each drink(including kids Sprites) had the straws with additional colorful stuff hanging off — cherries — you name it. The app sampler was huge — fresh and hot! The mustard is amazing –best I have had — but it does have a bite! I had the underwater conference and was blown away — fresh, beautifully presented and sizzling — several people asked the wait staff what it was on the way through. The waitress we had was amazing — very helpful an friendly with a great sense of humor — our new favorite for sure!
