Nothing special but was decent… House fried rice was great and fresh. Crab rangoons were just okay and so was the soup and scallion pancake we got. Service was fast but not very friendly. If come back for a quick bite to eat, but if you want something really good and all very fresh than I’d go elsewhere

Went in for lunch on Sunday @ 3:30PM… Ordered PUPU Platter &2 Luncheon Specials. The Platter was merely average, nothing special. After the Apps, the waiter told us they were OUTOFFRIEDRICE… OUTOFFRIEDRICE… How does that happen in a Chinese Restaurant… He said they would not have any fried rice the rest of the day: SEVENHOURS… Being hungry, we accepted boiled white rice, which SUCKED… COLD, OVERCOOKED&STICKY… I’LLNEVEREATTHEREAGAIN !!!

I typically go to Jumbo Seafood for Chinese fare, but, in looking for alternatives, I discovered that Mandarin Cuisine had four stars on Unilocal relative to Jumbo’s 3. So the wife and I gave it a try. Now Jumbo has its ups and downs(mainly ups), but the food at Mandarin Cuisine doesn’t come up to Jumbo’s downs. So, if Jumbo gets 3 stars, Mandarin gets 2. Frankly I’d give Jumbo a solid 4 stars. As an aside, I haven’t found reason to put too much faith in Unilocal’s ratings.

Classic Massachusetts Chinese food. Fast and delicious. I’ve only ever ordered take-out, so can’t comment on the dining in-house, other than they have a full bar and nice colorful décor. Great Singapore Rice Noodles, awesome Crab Rangoons… I can’t think of anything I’ve had that was less that yummy. Staff is always kind, and I always enjoy my meal!

I go here for lunch every Wednesday. Food is some of the best Chinese around. The General Tao’s is absolutely amazing. If you go on Wednesdays, you can get the Crab Rangoon. The service is fast, Kevin does a great job keeping the place orderly. Try the Hot N Sour soup! Excellent. Good portions, very reasonable cost, especially for an expensive corner of the world.

I think the food is only average, but I always have a good time coming here with coworkers and friends. 3 stars +1 because of the atmosphere. Service is quick and responsive and the prices are very reasonable. The inside of the restaurant reminds me of your stereotypical Chinese restaurant in a spy movie, which I find hilarious.

We go here frequently, they remember us and see us to «our table» They are great people, and good food too. My favorite is the family style tofu. Little children are mesmerized by the fish tank, and the owner is an artist extraordinaire. Every where you look will have something he has created, and you can just tell how much fun he had doing it!

We ordered take-out from Mandarin on Christmas. My hubby & our friend went to pick it up, since it was quicker than delivery(through Foodler). We got a ton of things, all of which I can’t remember… The dumplings were good, although not as flavorful as I’d like. The lo mein was really good — not dry like some places; the Mongolian Beef was very flavorful and the beef was not tough… We definitely got a chicken dish as well, but I can’t remember which one!(I think the Honey Glazed Chicken, maybe?) It was ALL good and we had pretty much no leftovers. I do wish they’d offer«dinner specials»(1 app, rice or lo mein and a meal), but I guess that’s more for small, hole-in-the-wall places… But we will definitely be getting from here again!

Really like this place, best Chinese food that I’ve had in a long time. Fast delivery too.

Delivers what it is supposed to deliver. I’ve been here twice in the past month. The décor is some of the busiest I’ve ever seen in a Chinese restaurant, but the food is standard ‘Americanized’ Chinese, reasonably priced. I have to admit the hot-and-sour soup wasn’t as good the second time as I remembered it from the first time. Might be my bad memory or just a one-off experience the second time. I little heavy on soy sauce flavor for me, not enough spice. But the szechuan pork I had was really great. The chicken wings I ordered as the side were really tasty too.

Went here for a wedding banquet. First off the décor is very unique and not your typical Chinese restaurant with the faded Chinese lanterns and red sticky booths that requires a crowbar to pull yourself free. Found out that the owner personally designed the restaurant’s interior. The Drinks are very good. I highly recommend the the Mai Tai. It has a great flavor that can be enjoyed and not just a glass of rocket fuel that would send you to the moon. Great flavor without the strong alcoholic taste. The food was amazing. Really hot a fresh and the servers were very quick bring out the dishes and clearing the table for the next following courses. The only one thing that I was not… use to was the lobster. Not that it was not good. In fact it was very good, but just not how I’m use to eating it the flavor profile was just not what I’m use to when compared to other Chinese restaurants that serve this dish, but still a very good meal. Would come back again just so that I could have another Mai Tai.

My family really enjoys Mandarin Cuisine — we get takeout pretty much weekly, and we dined in this evening. I’m a big fan of their Peking raviolis, my son loves the scallion pancakes and orange-flavored chicken, and we all eat pretty much anything on the menu. We order from them every year for Boxing Day(Dec. 26), with friends who are also diehard Chinese food fans.

Staff is very friendly. They are the best. Food is good. Our family love this place. It is a good place to bring my American friends to enjoy Chinese food, such as chicken and beef dishes.

I would love to give 1 star for the owner/manager — whoever pick up the phone call at work at the front desk. But based on food and other polite staff, I will offer two. Here is my story, I came to this place one week ago with my co-worker, I’m Chinese and I love Chinese food, I will always take my friends and co-workers to try some, normally we will go to the little panda(the one close to newton center), but this one is close to work, so we want to give a shot. the first experience is ok, food was soso but enough offering for the lunch special price, the server was nice. the lunch includes main dish, one side and soup and today I decided to buy a take out, I search the menu online, no lunch menu listed, fine, I call the place, they didnt ask anything, like if you want white rice or fired rice, I have to call them twice to make sure my order is right, by the time I got there, the manager charge me additional $ 2.50 for the soup, of couse I have question on that, he said dine in is different than take out, fine, buy why don’t you tell me at the frist plece, here is his repond, rude:“I DONTKNOWWHATDOYOUTHINK?” Excuse me??? if you ever list the difference on;line or on your menu, I don’t mind to pay extra at all, or I have a choice not to pick it, I don’t want to argue on that, i have to go back to work, and another rude language came out: «HOLDTHEWAY(my food) WEGIVEITTOYOU, «IN A REALLYBADTONE… Excuseme???/ I understand you might be right cuz otherwise the food may leak, but can you be nice and explain it with patient? OMG, in such a bad weather, if you are not feeling weel to work, please stay at home, don’t ruin other people’s lunch dear manager!

I went here for lunch today after searching for a chinese food place nearby work. This was the third I had attempted and as the saying goes, «third times a charm». I had the chicken fingers which were not overly battered, chicken wings and lobster sauce. The lobster sauce had a really nice taste to it, maybe it was ginger?, compared to others especially locally. Everyone I was with enjoyed and cleaned their plates as well. I am sure it looked like non of us had eaten for days the way the plates were clean. If you are around and looking for good chinese food, this is worth the try!

Mandarin Cuisine is by far the closest thing to authentic Chinese I’ve had outside of China itself or Chinatown. It’s a great place for weekday lunch, with a huge menu, friendly staff, and quick service. The décor is pretty strange… dark and dreary, really. However, everything else is pretty good, especially considering that I dislike Chinese food in general!

Mandarin Cuisine has been a go-to spot for years for the best local Chinese food. I lived in Los Angeles for 13 years and could not find Chinese like this for my life, so every visit home I would make the pilgrimage to Mandarin Cuisine to fill the void. The service is always friendly and on the ball, even when I’d want to order something slightly off-menu. I’ve got a few favorites, like the General Tso chicken, amazing Crab Rangoon and scallion pancakes, but the specials are always fun to try when I’m looking for something different. The décor is a blend of a funky art project and classic restaurant décor and there’s always plenty of parking. The only complaint is that its sometimes hard to turn into their parking lot if you’re coming from Newton towards Needham on Highland Ave. When I wanted to impress my new girlfriend with great Chinese food, this is where I took her on our first date. She’s now living with me – I guess I did something right. Always delicious and good people there — you cannot go wrong.
