Lafayette’s Oceanfront Resort

We have been coming here for many years during winter and summer and have never been disappointed. Newly renovated third floor of the main building with new carpeting, bedding, furniture as well as bathroom greeted us this stay. We enjoy the hot tub and pool but the ocean view is breath taking. The front desk staff are very nice and accommodating. We come here to relax and it works every time.

Can’t beat the location, right on the beach in Wells. Well, most rooms are. Pricing can be high in the summer, but that’s the norm in beach areas. We’ve stayed in both updated and not so updated rooms. Either way, the rooms have always been clean and maid service has been just fine. Parking can be tight for the hotel. The indoor pool is wonderful, and the hot tub is perfect to relax in at night. The last hour each night is adults only, it’s nice to go in there and relax with no kids splashing around. There’s Forbes restaurant attached, where you can get something for breakfast or lunch. Nothing fancy, but good food.
If you don’t have the budget for an oceanfront room, I think the best bet is one of the original rooms. Yes, they are smaller and the bathrooms are tight, but if you go online and look at the pictures, you might be able to reserve a room that has access to a shared balcony. yes, it overlooks some parking spots, but you also get an ocean view for probably half the cost of a room classified as ocean view. Can’t beat that deal.
One last thing, they still operate on an old fashioned system, you can’t pay over the phone by credit card to reserve the room. You mail in a check. It would be nice to see that system updated into the modern era!

Will not stay here again. Overpriced. 179/​night for parking lot view and they run you out of the parking lot the minute you check out. Stayed one night didn’t get to enjoy the beach because the public parking was full and we could not park at the motel. Inside the rooms, 50’s wood paneling, worn out vinyl in the bathrooms.

I have stayed here for the past four summers and it feels like coming home. Staff are amazing, friendly, and accommodating. Rooms are clean and quiet. Best bang for your buck in Wells on the ocean.

My family and I come here a couple of times every summer. Staff is friendly. Room are wonderful, quiet and clean. I sleep better here then at home. My girls love the pool and the beach is amazing.

This was our first time here. The room was beautiful and nicely updated. The view from the room was amazing. It’s close to a lot of little shops, including an arcade and candy shop. All of the staff we encountered we helpful and pleasant. We enjoyed our visit so much that we have already booked a weeks stay for next summer :)

Very old fashioned and an odd collection of buildings. But lots of electrical outlets and big rooms, except the base rate rooms.
We stayed for 4 days and would have stayed for 7 but on Friday the room rate went up by $ 40. So we moved to Ogunquit.
Not a very scenic part of the coast but on the ocean.
Best part was two nearby restaurants.

Have been going here over 40 years. My husband and I couldn’t wait for Fridays when we would get in the car and get to our favorite place for the weekend. We would request a second floor ocean room so we could leave the sliding door open all night and breathe that ocean air. We both relaxed there like no other place.
Rooms have little refrigerator and microwave so we would stop down the road and
pick up groceries to bring lunch to the beach. They do have a restaurant and little store for essentials.
Staff is great and most have been there for years. We have gone there even in the winter and it still has that beautiful view. One of my favorite places to go.

I would NEVER come here again!
1. We were promised an oceanfront room, showed up and got a parking lot view room. They did nothing about this besides to say, «we would never have promised you that.»
2. Went to go to bed the first night and our bed was covered in sand. We asked them to change the sheets the following day: they were still covered in sand.
3. Went to take a shower the next morning, the water came out brown. Their response, «just let it run and it will be fine.» Fabulous.
4. Room barely went below 78% humidity the entire time we were there.
We would immediately leave if we were not in town for a wedding.

We stayed here for two nights and loved it. Right on the beach and great staff. Very accommodating and helpful. Love the location and the people.

The pull of this place is that it’s right on the beach. I was on a spur of the moment trip, and as a walk in on a Sat in July, I was glad to have a room. My room in the original building was outdated in Tv and décor, and had a less than cushy mattress, but was spotless. Very clean. I kind of enjoyed the retro 50’s bathroom tile. The room also had a mini fridge which was very nice.
Great views from hotel patios, and those lucky enough to get oceanfront rooms.
The pool and hot tub area were very nice.
The whole atmosphere is warm, welcoming and family friendly.
Prices reasonable, considering high season.

What had begun as a 1-​night trip to Ogunquit had evolved into a mini-​vacation, in part because of the hot weather and the unusually warm ocean waters. So, we didn’t want it to end, but we didn’t want to drive any further North, so we headed to Wells Beach, where we had never stayed before. We were lucky to find a room right on the beach at the Lafayette Resort, and this was the best hotel/​room of our trip.
The room had two, queen-​sized Tempurpedic beds (which I love), plush carpeting (unusual for beach hotels), and a balcony that was right over the beach. In addition, the hotel featured an indoor pool and Jacuzzi, with a waterfall (felt great on my tired shoulders). In addition, the staff was very nice and welcoming (unlike the hotels in Kennebunkport).
The beach is rockier and firmer than the others (better for walking but not so good for lying on it), and most of it disappears at high tide. However, it is incredibly picturesque, and given that Joni is an amateur photographer, it was perfect for us.
