This place is truly THE BEST of THE BEST! I found my BMW repair shop for life! Mike is honest, reliable, and a pleasure to deal with. I, too, went to Beverly Hills BMW and was quoted thousands of dollars for a service… I ended up being told by Mike what was needed, what wasn’t, and only spending a few hundred. He even spoke to my father on the phone when I couldn’t explain what was necessary! (car talk is not my thang) :-) My go-​to shop from now on!

YES! I have found my new repair shop! As anyone knows that owns a luxury vehicle, it can get very expensive when it comes time to fix it.
I went to Beverly Hills BMW for a regular headlight change and they quoted me HUNDREDS of dollars. I could barely get a service adviser to speak to me (and forget about trying to get them on the phone).
At Johanns, I paid less than a quarter of the price, they were friendly and really went the extra mile to show that they actually cared about my car service. Wonderful, attentive customer service.

Yeah. All the reviews are right. Mike is great and honest and reasonably priced. Great folks. UPDATE: I had to go back for a different reason because, well it is a Mercedes after all. The guys were even better than my last visit. Mike quoted me an amount for my service, they did a little extra and the bill came in higher but he honored the quote without me even saying anything. These guys are the best!!!

Just acquired my dad’s ’86 560SEC and found Mike through Unilocal.The first thing Mike said was «never sell that car!» He is so passionate about these machines and what he does, he fosters a trust in him and his team you’d want in the vet for your dog or your own doctor. Mike was a mechanical engineer or something similar when he was in Russia, fell in love with cars, and stuck with that passion when he came to America. Why do I know this? Because Mike is a talker. But back to the car. I’m entrusting Mike to help me transition into ownership of my new old Mercedes, and he’s already resolved numerous little electrical and spare parts issues my dad suffered with for years. He has my full faith and I’ll update this review as time goes by.

Mike is my go-​to guy. My mom and grandma have been going to him for years and if I have any issues whatsoever with my Mercedes SLK 230 he’s always happy to help, no matter how small the problem. These guys are reliable, honest, and trustworthy, and that’s rare for a mechanic.

I wouldn’t dream of taking my car to any other mechanic! Mike and the entire team are truly the best. I’ve been a happy customer here for years now and am so grateful to have found them. I’ve saved thousands of dollars over the years by taking my car here rather than the Mercedes dealership service center. They are always honest and their prices can’t be beat. They work very hard to squeeze you in and get the job done quickly so that you are inconvenienced as little as possible. I just can’t say enough good things about them.

I was pretty terrified to take my Mercedes to an unknown service station, but since moving to a new city, I had no choice. I looked on Unilocal this morning for a location near me and found this gem! Truly, truly, the reviews are 100% accurate.
I spoke with Mike on the phone this morning and he was totally accommodating to my schedule. I brought my car in for B Service, but he and one of his guys took the time to check out my entire car. My father is in the car business so I’m not the typical woman when it comes to vehicle repair. I actually knew what was wrong with the car so when he told me what needed to be fixed, I knew he wasn’t just blowing smoke.
I cannot put into words how thankful I am to have found a trusted repair place for my car. I don’t care where I live in SoCal, I will ONLY bring my car to Mike from now on. Finding him was a blessing. Save yourself the headache of going anywhere else and bring your Mercedes to JIMBMWS!

By far the most transparent and open auto repair shop I’ve ever been to. Mike will actually perform the procedure in front of you, show you what’s going on with your car and give you your old parts back (if you want them). Diagnostics are run right in front of you so you can see which codes are coming up and can take a photo for your own reference. Very different from typical shops or even the dealer where you have no idea what’s going and just have to take their word for it.
Not only is Mike very good at what he does but he also gives excellent advice in regards to help me save money since I am selling my Mercedes. He really looks out for his customers best interest and treats them like family. The location of the shop is very great; Starbucks is conveniently right across the street so I generally just walk there and work there as the work is being done.
Prices are very reasonable compared to the dealership aka stealership. Having a good indie mechanic on hand is a must if you drive a Mercedes or BMW imo.

It makes me so happy that people like Mike still exist! He is honest, truly cares and has a great team of people working for him. I have an 85 Merc 300D that needed new belts. The price was beyond fair and he went as far as to fix a few other little things like a side panel falling off. My battery died recently and he told me it would be cheaper to get the triple A battery than bringing my car in. I will always go to Mike. He is busy for a reason :)

My 2008 BMW 328i wouldn’t start, even after being jumped. I had it towed to Johann’s based on the Unilocal reviews and after speaking to Mike on the phone. He has been in the business forever and knows his stuff. He immediately diagnosed the problem was the starter and quoted me a very fair estimate. He explained exactly what brand replacement part he recommended using and why. I trusted his judgment and couldn’t be happier with the results. The car was ready the next day, he charged me exactly what he estimated, and to top it off, he is incredibly personable and a genuinely nice guy. I had a great experience and will definitely be back for my next service.

Very nice people, smart, convenient. They are always busy, that is the only reason I don’t give 5 stars. Sold my MB AMG because they are over rated pieces of junk, but if I had one I’d keep bringing it here.

My car suddenly stopped working and I could not get anything to read although I had power on my 2007 530i out of nowhere! I was stuck more than an hour away from home and had no way to get the car home without paying close to $ 400 just for a row without any repairs. I began searching Unilocal for BMW Repair shops in and around the area of Santa Monica. I don’t allow just anyone to work on my vehicle only BMW and Star Tech Motors in Corona where Joseph has provided excellent service to my BMWs and Mercedes Benz since 2000.
After being stranded overnight the next morning I read all the reviews on Mike and this shop in West Hollywood. I was impressed and knew that many people would not bother to spend the time to write a review or lie about their personal experiences or say awesome things about the character of the people providing excellent customer service that work there. So it must be true! I intuitivelyI felt it would be the best place to start and inquire about having my car repaired and to test this place out. I called and spoke to Mike, many times people are too busy to talk or pay attention to customers let alone potential customers. But I felt it was a match once he answered my what if questions and any doubts about the car even before I got there. When I arrived he welcomed me in and gave me immediate attention and acknowledged me being there and said he would be right with me. He also offered all the customers some delicious Nutella filled pastries that took me back to the sweet memories of Europe. They were freshly baked and still warm from the bakery. That was an unexpected treat while he was finishing up the paperwork from a previous customer he still mingled with us. Everyone there looked calm and appeared happy to be there and get the attention regarding their personal car situation. I also felt comfortable in that environment.
When he did get to me during helping others still he immediately determined what it was as we believed it to be was the starter. I already did the research for BMW dealers and even purchasing the starter from a Bosch dealer would have only made it a little cheaper which if there was time he would have accepted. Since his goal was to get me in the road today even if they had to stay a little longer past closing hours he promised to do so with the final price being MORE than half of all BMW dealerships as well as my own Mechanics price but I would have had to add on another $ 350 or more just to tow the car back to Corona. I made a decision and was promised excellence with a 24 month warrantee and if I’m ever stuck again I have free towing and part replacement from anywhere in the USA. This was a phenomenal experience that I will never forget! Mike and everyone in his shop was awesome, honest and serious scout their customer relationships and Thor service. If you need your BMW or Benz repaired please check Mike out first and I guarantee you will be completely satisfied as I was!!! Thanks to everyone there and especially for staying the extra time to take care of me and get me back on the road in a matter of hours! I love this place I will go back again! Thank you Mike!!!

Mike is one of the most knowledgable and informative people I have met that can explain any car issue in simple terms without the typical guessing game that costs people hundreds or thousands of dollars. He shoots straight from the hip, no bullshit he tells you how it is and what it’s going to be and I think everyone can respect that from a mechanic.
His prices are very reasonable interns of service. Personally I have a 2009 BMW 328i and lets all be honest, BMW’s can break your wallet.
I would recommend any friends or family here as he treats everyone with respect and honesty and has a sincere passion for his craft.
Do yourself a huge favor and stop by and pay mike a visit, he definitely has earned my business and hopefully he can earn yours in the same respect.

Today makes it 5 years that I’ve been trusting my 3 BMW’s over to Mike (the owner) and the experts over at Johann’s Independent Mercedes BMW service. The hands down best go-​to place in Los Angeles to take your BMW or Mercedes for repair and servicing.

I recently moved to Los Angeles and was looking for a car repair shop with great customer service that would also help me keep the costs of the repair low. My car is somewhat old– 2000 ML 320 and I’m at the point where I do not want to sink a bunch of unnecessary money into a car that might not run in 2 years.
Johann’s helped me bring my car back from the dead for a reasonable price. Moreover, Mike told me what repairs were necessary now, and what repairs could wait a few months until I had a little more money.
Mike, the manager, was experienced and knew the In’s and Out’s of late model Mercs and BMWs. Me and my roommates will only take our cars to him in the future.

Mike, the owner, was great. Brought in my 2007 BMW after its extended warranty expired for brake fluid. Mike correctly diagnosed the service light and only charged me for the brake fluid (even though I mistakenly thought it needed oil).
It’s hard enough to find honesty like that with car repair services. But not only was Mike honest, he was very personable, his service was FAST (done in 45 minutes without an appointment) and inexpensive.
I’ll definitely be making this place my regular servicer.
