Don’t even dream about this place for breakfast if you are in a rush. We attempted to go to one of our favorites places for breakfast but were saddened to find it was closed on the day we came to town. We quickly looked for other options. Edd’s Place popped up and didn’t have a line out the door. The ordering process took a few minutes, but I was optimistic when I was told they had real maple syrup. We ordered a muffin, an egg sandwich, and 6 pancakes and it took 45 minutes, which may not seem that long, but by the time we finished, it was almost lunch time– ordered at 9:45m served at 10:30…but I can live with that. What I can’t live with is being lied to about syrup. Among other things, I am something of a syrup snob. I grew up in New England and, if I’m rating a restaurant for breakfast, in particular, the establishment loses one star right off the top if they do not offer REAL maple syrup– the kind that comes from a tree. If they offer it but it costs extra, it is good for half a star. If it is on the table for no charge, they start with 5 and are judged by everything else that you ordinarily judge a restaurant by. If they tell you they have it, but they don’t, they lose 3 stars. I asked if they offered real maple syrup when I ordered. Surprised with a «Yes» answer, I decided to try the pancakes instead of the stuffed french toast special. I was likewise charged the minimal fee for the special syrup. When the food FINALLY came out, I started sipping each syrup cup to find which one was the real McCoy. The four little tubs that I sampled tasted like run of the mill, cheapo, junk syrup. When the waitress came back to the table with the last of the pancakes I asked which one was the«real maple syrup.» I was floored when she told me that«they all are.» If you’ve ever had it, you know the difference. The fourth star was lost because of the length of time we had to wait. We weren’t the only people inconvenienced by the wait. Two separate gentlemen were held up for 25 minutes each for to-go egg sandwich orders. Long story short– don’t bother if you are in a rush, and they don’t have REAL maple syrup, in case that is a deciding factor for you.

This is a nice place for lunch, I liked the outside seating area. My dining companion and I ordered a lobster roll and crab cake sandwich. Both were good but I wasn’t wowed by either. I liked the fries though, they were perfectly crispy. Other than that, I have had better lobster rolls on the shoreline but I am happy to have tried this place.

I had always heard good things about Eds place so I went today for lunch. I had the BBQ pulled pork panini and my friend had the lobster roll. The food was great and the outside area was really beautiful. I definitely plan on eating there whenever I come home from school. Only thing is it’s pretty expensive for a baller on a budget.

Do not pass this place by. It is outdoor seating at a picturesque salt marsh with delectable food at reasonable prices. The owner’s Mom contributes splendid baked goodies. This is one of the only places I have ever gone to on consecutive days. It’s a sweet seasonal place. Stop looking at reviews and head over there.

This place is so tiny if you blink you might miss it driving by. I’ve been here twice now and each time has been delicious. Everything is made fresh. Great spot to get some lunch. I don’t recommend if you’re claustrophobic however!

Still the largest and BEST lobster rolls on the shoreline. If you haven’t stopped in here your definitely missing out.

My absolute favorite breakfast spot on the shore. I come to this place every time I’m in the area. The food is served quick and is always fresh! All of their menu items are delicious! Ed and Kim are always very welcoming to all who come in. I cannot say a single negative thing about this restaurant. If you are looking for an amazing breakfast that will leave you 100% satisfied, head over to Edd’s Place, you won’t regret it!

Edd’s Place for Oktoberfest is an annual treat we look forward to. We have never been disappointed. This year I enjoyed the wiener schnitzel entrée. The veal was crisply breaded — a large portion of cutlets. It sat on tender buttered noodles, sauerkraut, a potato pancake, deeply flavorful and tender red cabbage. There was generous daub of sour cream and spiced applesauce on the side, too. There was so much delicious food on my plate! My love ordered the sausage platter and enjoyed 3 very large sausages with a side of spicy mustard, and all the same scrumptious trimmings: potato pancake, red cabbage, sauerkraut, and buttered noodles. He, too, had tasty spiced applesauce. We had made a reservation and were able to move from the sheltered outdoor dining room to a waterview picnic table after placing our order. We BYOB’d and promptly our meal was brought out on fiestaware plates with silverware rolled in large clean white napkins. We followed our meals with dessert: large slice of moist German chocolate cake and hearty slice of apple streusel pie with flaky crust and sprinkling of walnuts on top. Wonderful meal sitting waterside, watching wild life and enjoying the sunset.

Edited: On my third time coming here, I received a large cooked ant in my lobster roll. Very gross. I was offered a fresh one but asked for a refund. Changed from a five star review to two stars. Original review: Great food, especially the lobster roll! They have a nice waterside view and a relaxing atmosphere. We are staying in the area for a week and are about to go here for the third time!

I’ve been coming here for breakfast for years, however I get the same thing every time. Egg and cheese on a hard roll. I really should branch out and try a different item(or even come for dinner), but the sandwich is SOGOOD! The roll is crispy since they grill it, but then the egg and cheese is so gooey and delicious. I love it! I can always count on this since I’ve found it very difficult to find a place in Clinton/Westbrook/Old Saybrook able to duplicate a delicious breakfast. Nice seating outside along the river. Only problem is the service. Best thing to do is call in your order ahead and then sit there and enjoy the view while you eat your to-go. Otherwise you will be waiting at least 40 mins for your meal. Of course I will be back!

Visited Edds a few times and decided today was the day to let the cat out of the bag. The Lobster rolls in this facility are straight Titties! These things are top of the line loaded w fresh warm lobster and served on a buttered roll. Takes a little bit of time for them to come out but great things are always worth waiting a little bit for!

Got here just as they were closing yesterday and Pam and the staff so kindly rushed through our order. We found it by accident and it was such a glorious accident. Absolutely delicious lobster roll done to perfection and generous! Also, sitting out back looking on to the water as a boat pulled up to dock– it was the waterside lobster roll dreams are made of. Thanks to Pam and everyone at Edd’s! Happy 4th!

We have been down to Westbrook 3 summers in a row. This is our go to place for lobster rolls. The service and view are fabulous. It’s a no frills place with outside tables. If your in town come on down.

We were searching for a local place and skipped Bill’s in favor for Edd’s. This is a little place but big on personality! Stop here for a casual place for lunch or dinner. And by casual they mean paper plates, place your order, pay and they bring your order to you. Note: they don’t do a wide selection of fried seafood, as they say, «everyone else on this little strip does that» — but they do a mean lobster roll and have a variety of other items to choose from. The real reason you go to Edd“s? A really quaint and beautiful setting. Even if it’s raining, you can sit in their warm, enclosed outdoor room and look out on the marshland — very pretty and calming and lovely. Also note: no liquor license, but guess what? You can BYOB. Nice… friendly family runs this place which I would choose anytime over a big-box place.

Stumbled upon this really nice place today. Didn’t know what to expect, but we were quickly greeted buy several smiling faces from the staff. As you walk thru the front door… a display case is right in your face with Many tempting offerings… many of which are homemade desserts. We ordered the chowda and lobster bisque, hot dogs, pulled pork grinder and Sea dog… a fried catfish filet, lettuce and tarter sauce served on a hot dog bun… very generous portions and quite pleasing on the pallet. Although it is billed a TOGO spot… Edd’s does offer outside seating by the water… A nice touch… covered space is also available. If ever you find yourself in Westbrook Connecticut… be sure to stop in and enjoy a culinary treat and ask if they found the sunset picture.

Meh. Disappointed with the food but most importantly the service. Rude staff — the waitress told us to «get out of the way» as we arrived. I still don’t understand why we stayed to eat inedible lobster rolls. Truly disappointing. I will not recommend this place to anyone else.

Cute little shack on the water with a wide selection of seafood and home style meals. The staff are so nice and welcoming its hard to give only 3 stars but i’m only judging the food. We had a lobster roll and the lobster pie. Upon first bites of either dish it is wonderful but then after a few more bites your tongue starts to numb slightly because everything was so over salted. Even the lobster roll was oddly way more salty than most. They also put shreds of lettuce on it which become slimy and wilted under the hot lobster. Definitely not the best on the shoreline! the price is steep too — $ 24 for 1 regular sized roll with a few french fries. The lobster pie was very rich and did have large chunks of meat mostly from the claw. Overall it is not my fav spot in the area and probably won’t be back.

Ed’s place does an amazing lobster roll and has an unbeatable out door seating area. Breath taking food paired with a breath taking view. They also have wonderful live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights.

Great water view on an inlet. Always a great place to go for lunch when we take a drive up to the outlets or shop along the shore line. The long dogs are excellent with the buttered and grilled buns and the French fries are always crispy. You eat in a little gazebo overlooking the inlet. It’s very well heated in the winter.
