Established in 1936.
Our Founding
The company that would become Lee Auto Malls was founded by Joseph Lifshitz in Lewiston in 1936. Starting with $ 1,100 in cash and three used cars on consignment, «Advance Auto Sales» quickly grew to be the largest DeSoto-Plymouth dealership in Maine.
Under the leadership of Lifshitz’s son, Shepard «Shep» Lee, Lee Auto Malls grew to become one of Maine’s largest car dealership groups. Today, we are Maine’s No. 1 volume auto dealer, with 14 new car franchises and 13 used car stores. The company is third-generation family-owned and operated: Adam Lee serves as Chairman of the Board and Donald Lee is company president. Life-long family friend John Isaacson is the company CEO.
