The Barking Lot

I have been around activities professionally and recreationally owning pets! They have each been a part of our family and having excellent services, vendors, caregivers, trainers, vet care etc is at the top of our list with a major monthly or bi monthly care for many many years of an out standing business for pet grooming, information, vigilant care in the service with a great management respecting the value of the «tone at the top!»
Having a family or smaller niche retail providers specialty stores with insightful, intellectual and patient service is a HUGE asset among our family vendor list and part of our community !
Our dogs through the years and now two standard golden doodles and a Pomeranian are receiving quality services as I would want for any human family member or loved one in the family. The owner is attentive to each customers needs and concerns as well any ideas that may also assist on any given grooming or retail shopping day. Her staff maintains a very clean business and high standards in keeping it that way; have been noticed ! Their unique products and awesome speciality dog foods and cat foot for specific needs are among a large quality selection. The staff is polite helpful and very patient. Additionally humane to all the pets.
They are proficient and send reminder calls and or emails ! That is more than many larger businesses in the care taking industry would do these days while focusing on revenue at the expense of quality customer service intelligent about their services products and location where they are working for calls for directions. The economy certainly could use much more support into the smaller specialty businesses and have higher satisfaction than an assembly line of robotic services ending up with multiple issues not worth the time or expense.
Patronizing the family owned or smaller speciality stores seem to be the focus on a boost our economy will benefit from. If looking for value for the costs and some then places such as the Barking lot is worth a try! If needing to rush through the assembly line services with employees unaware what they are selling and or care about customer services more likely will be dissatisfied and returning items and if pet care then Feline baby or Canine Babies will show it and cling for life next time in to visit and leave with out more knowledge than entering for the days care and services ! Fabulous results from such visions and hard work creating this excellent Barking Lot and retail with other classes and services ! This place is good for grooming, dog toys or training. However their customer service is not that great. I order a specific type of dog food that they usually carry, this time when they got my order they lost it due to a system malfunction. They called me askimg what type of food I ordered and I could not recall, so I told them that I will email them the stuff i ordered. When I emailed them, I didn’t get an awnser back for days, so I gave them a call they knew nothing about the problem and told them what food I ordered however they did not have it in stock. I was told that the boss will call the next day. I have not heard from thei boss once today. Maybe time to find a different place to buy food.

I highly recommend The Barking Lot! I started going there for the $ 6.00 nail clips they have every Tuesday! I take my dog – and usually my daughter’s dog, too – every two weeks for a nail clip. I appreciate that they make this service so affordable. The vet used to charge me $ 19.00 for a nail clip! Now I get to keep my dog’s nails nice and short! BUT the BEST part of The Barking Lot is the PEOPLE! Without exception, EVERY EMPLOYEE there will «ooh and ahh» over your pet just like you do! They are friendly, affordable, and most important – kind to your pet!

We had our pup groomed here and I was very happy with results. They treated her with love and did a really nice job. The prices are reasonable and they have a point system, yet no one told me what the points are earned towards? Anyways, we are taking her again soon.

I came in at four when they close at four and they let me shop a bit which was nice. The place was clean but did have a bit of an odor– but what pet place wouldn’t? The employees were helpful and friendly– they came right up and pet my puppy. They had two cats there and allowed me to bring my dog that I was carrying.
They have a wide selection of toys, collars, and all natural pet food. They had a cute bag to carry your pet in. It was pricey but it was cute so of course I got it.
I wanted a lot of items to train my puppy such as mats, and I recall asking for three things that they didn’t have. It’s pretty much a place for treats and toys– these were the words of the employee and this is accurate. They do have a few extra selections such as an anxiety vest or winter booties but not a wide selection of size or colors.
I tried to chat with the employee to gain some training suggestions but she didn’t offer me any which was surprising because they advertised a puppy training class on a piece of paper at the register. Oh well– I should be thankful they didn’t push or pressure anything.
They did let me try putting my dog on the carrying bag which was nice. However playing devils advocate I couldn’t help but wonder if they would have cleaned it for the next person had I not purchased it.

I was not especially happy with my experience here. The inside of the shop smells a good bit which made me question the cleanliness. Then I could see dogs walking around in the grooming area, but there were buckets and other obstacles that seemed odd to have loose dogs in. What if a pair of scissors was dropped?
Also, the employees seem to be a bit rough around the edges.
I currently take my dog to a grooming boutique in Geneva, I was trying to find a place closer to home. But, I will not be back to The Barking Lot.
