Overpriced and records in fair condition or worse. They don’t know how to price records. I like the place as a bookstore only

I could spend a loooott of time in here & still feel like there’s more to explore. The first time I came here– I spent an hour and a half reading in one of the aisles and not one person working there bothered me, which is something I like! I don’t like to be hassled to much about how I’m doing and all that. There’s a great selection of books, DVDS, musics, electronics, CDs, video games, and more! It’s worth taking a look through — might find a sweet bargain!
I found two great manga books for 1 $ each so I thought that was a great buy! They’ve got lots on sale too so don’t forget to have a look see in that section.
I hear they buy stuff too so maybe I’ll look into selling some stuff to them someday

This place is great. Great prices on used books. Usually always have what I’m looking for. I always stop here before ordering a book online. I would much rather support local bookstores. Good record collection as well

They will take every single book you bring in to sell. Very fair buy back prices.

Found this place on Unilocal and I was disappointed. There were tons of books and a lot of neat things, but it was a little hard to find what I wanted. I think they’re organized by genre then by author, but the signs were hard to see and majority of the time, I wandered around instead of actually finding the books I wanted.
I was trying to track down some Sue Grafton hard covers, but could only find soft ones in the mystery section. Then I realized that the hard cover mystery books were on the other side, that was irritating. I understand that they’re limited on space, but it’s a little frustrating and a pain to have to know where the books are, especially for your first time.
I walked out with a few books to add to my (ever growing) collection, but I wasn’t really happy with what I bought. I feel like this place is a little too hyped up for what is it. Maybe I came on a bad day, but I don’t see myself coming back here anytime soon.

Half Off Books is my favorite bookstore in the world. The guys who work there are all attractive, smart, and helpful. The lady who runs it is truly magnanimous (especially to teachers!). Their clearance section is a thing of beauty (I just bought a whole stack of books for my classroom for under $ 4) They have regular poetry readings and book signings… what’s not to love?

Love the variety of books they have. If you’re looking to find a rare book or one with character here is the place. The store is huge and it doesn’t have that old funky smell. It’s really nice. I love the place.

I describe this place as the «Empire Records» of bookstores. Like the movie with Liv Tyler in her first role. Books are well organized, staff is cool and I hear that on Fridays they have open mics. Prices are decent for used books, didn’t pay more than 7 bucks. They have 45’s and records in the front of the store as well as comics. It’s a well rounded book store that I try to frequent when I’m in Uptown Whittier.

Cute little book store, great prices on kids books. You don’t really see book stores like this any more. Customer service was great. Definitely would come back.

I love books, so I often walk over to this place just to look around… but thanks to their clearance section (so many $ 1 hardcover books!) and their discount record boxes ($ 1 records!) I rarely walk out empty-​handed. Which does not make me sad in the slightest.

I’m in love with this store. It’s a tall, book loving haven! The have events and a good selection of books. They support local writers and carry books, posters, records, and comics.

Great selection and price reasonably. They buy books, movies and CD’s which is great when you want some new books. Its a great trade.

I absolutely adore this place. The music that play throughout the store is great too. I saved alot of money going here. Their books are in good shape and It’s cool to explore in there bc you’ll never know what you’ll stumble upon. I got the lord of the rings the two towers and the return of the king on DVD for $ 1! (Bc there was sale) I got the hobbit (annotated edition) for $ 8 and the regular price is $ 24.95. And got the fellowship of the ring for 7 $ and it’s practically like brand new. Beyond satisfied.

I have to stop here each time I come back to my hometown. They have such a great selection of eclectic books & music. I found an old Springsteen album I had back in the day tonite!

These bookstore is so awesome!!! They have any type of book you gave in mind. It’s very hard to make a decision on what to buy! I am for sure going back to this bookstore. Possibly my new favorite book store

Loved this place! It was my first time there and wow. Found so many books that I will soon go back and buy. I love bookstores like these. You can find so many gems, classics, and local authors. I can’t wait to go back!

Half off books in uptown Whittier: wandered in one afternoon in an unexpected surprise find, but now I see it fits in perfectly.
My friends and I were waiting for our reservation at Crepes & Grapes when we decided to check out some of the other shops in the area. As soon as I walked in, I was overwhelmed at everything there was to see! Unfortunately I got stuck in the cookbook section the entire time we were there… But it was clear to see how much variety they have in stock.
I bought four different cookbooks on classic italian cuisine, vegan recipes, basic cooking skills, and French desserts! AND I only spent $ 11! My friends tore me away from the New Book section (because they sell new books too!) to get back to the restaurant. I spent most of my time distractedly eating, showing off vintage legume charts and different desserts to my friends.
I’ve got them on my bookshelf now, with enough space marked off for my future purchases. It’s shaping up to be quite a nice little library, even if it is mostly cookbooks at the moment!

I really love books so as a result, I’m a huge fan of bookstores

It looks nice on the inside, it smells nice, and it’s very spacious but the selection of books they have here is surprisingly limited.
I’m not a fan of the prices either. Most of the books I’ve seen were priced at seven dollars. For example, they have a travel book on France that was published in 1999 but it costs seven dollars. I’ve seen the same book at «Book Off» for one dollar.
This would’ve gotten 5 stars if only they had a better selection of books and better prices.
I’ve heard about the «Fire Sale» that takes place here sometimes. It’s where books that are seven dollars will cost one dollar and books that are eight dollars will cost two dollars.
It sounds fun but there’s a used bookstore chain where a «Fire Sale» is everyday. It’s called «Book Off.» They have a nice selection of used books that costs one dollar and two dollars…

What a great place to shop for books and more. Staff is super helpful and they have such a great amount and variety of materials. I like how they organized everything and prices are reasonable too. Location is great for when you are in Uptown Whittier and I like supporting book stores that are not chains or in a larger big box or department store.
