Saw a sign out front with their«specials» although most were typical prices but had a craving for a spicy tuna roll. Went in around 1 pm and ordered the roll and a miso to avoid paying $ 0.50 for a order less than $ 5.00 and took it to go. Got my order fairly quickly but then again there were no customers at this time. The miso was a little saltier than I expected but was still very good and it Tasted like it may have actually made from scratch. It had a slightly darker color than most places that serve it. The roll was tasty, a little of the smaller size but easier to eat. It could’ve been«wrapped» a little tighter but none the less the rice was cooked well, the tuna was tasty and the pickled ginger was excellent. And i was given low sodium soy sauce which I appreciated. I also like that they didn’t overdo it on the wasabi portion. I hate feeling wasteful. I’d definitely come here again and try out another menu item.

My gf was meeting me for lunch in uptown and suggested we boost this place– she had been there before. Walked in for lunch on a Wednesday– it was just us. The prices were reasonable and we appreciated the most, if not all, rolls were under $ 10 We ordered: two rolls(caterpillar and hot kelly) — mixed tempura meal and unagi/avocado bowl which came with miso. Freshly prepared without a fuss Delivery is available with an order of $ 25. We have already decided to have a sushi and medicine party in the future… yum

We came here because of the good reviews, however, the wait time for our food was too long. The restaurant was not even busy and it took about 20 minutes to get our food. Additionally, we were disappointed by the spicy tuna rolls which were very small and messy.

Great food and service. Nice family owners. Mom’s a great cook. Daughter is following in her footsteps. Food great to our liking. We’ve tried them all in the area and have made them part of our family.

Meeting a friend for lunch on Sunday. Hanarum was close by so we stopped in. The restaurant as about 20 seats and an enormous menu. Wanting one of everything, we went for 2 au hi combo plates. Holy moly! One would have fed us both and there’d be leftovers!!! Sushi was fresh, tempura crispy, grilled salmon wasn’t fishy. We’ll be back

I absolutely loved this place!!! My boyfriend & I tried this place after we found it on Unilocal! It’s a small place but the food takes it a long way. Portions are perfect. & the prices are even better. The lady who helped us I believe was the owner, she was so sweet and accommodating. Made us feel so welcomed. I have no complaints what’s so ever. Will definitely keep coming back. :)

Honestly I only went to this place because the reviews were high. This place isn’t so bad for getting the everyday special menu. That’s all I really liked was that their special is everyday and the lady is nice. Other than that, Octopus on 7th street in DTLA is still my go to for sushi.

I ordered a roll to-go and the quality of the roll was average. Probably won’t make another visit but thought it was worth a try with all the great reviews. Haven’t tried the other items on the menu so if I happen to somehow come by to eat here again I’d probably go for something else besides a roll.

Great place to have affordable sushi. I asked for a sashimi bowl and substituted the rice and salad for a seaweed salad and they customized my order.

Charming little place that has curry as an option! I love curry and am disappointed that there aren’t many places in Uptown, if any, that have it on their menu. Happy to report this place makes a pretty good one. The sweet lady behind the counter and making the food is really nice and makes sure your order is correct. So far I’ve tried the chicken yakitori(substantial in size), gyoza, and vegetable curry with rice. They also offer a shrimp curry, if you’re craving some shellfish. Yeah, parking on Greenleaf can be a nightmare around lunchtime, but you can park in the lot out back and use the back exit. Also, let’s face it, we could all use the walk. Overall, good food and really nice service.

Everything I’ve gotten here has just been flawless. If I’m in the mood for CALIROLLS, they have great specials, the rice is soft the ingredients are fresh. You would think it’s easy to make perfect cali rolls but you’d be surprised!!! Hanarum does it right! The teriyaki chicken is also flawlessly done. I’m a big brown rice junkie so sometimes I’ll just ask my wife to stop by and pick up chicken alone – tender and flavorful and affordable! Every experience I’ve had here has been flawless-i’m thankful it’s down the street from me – support your local business and check out Hanarum :)

If you are in uptown and craving sushi, this is the best spot. It’s very underrated since its new but beats maki yakis prices and bamoozes stale rice smothered in sauce. It’s quiet, simple, fairly priced, and the staff is really great. They also deliver which is a big plus. And the sushi tastes great.

This place is just so sad. The sushi didn’t taste fresh and the rice was burnt, so I could taste each individual rice crumbling in my mouth. I’ve never NOT finished sushi before since I hate wasting food but I forced myself to finish it and just never come back here again. Sorry, you’ve lost my business.

Not my cup of tea. Fish wasn’t fresh. I could taste how old and bad the oil was on the fried shrimp. A bit too pricy for the quality of food. Won’t be coming back. 2 stars because service was good.

I had to satisfy my sushi craving after an unfortunate experience at a nearby sushi restaurant, so I found this little gem after some searching… and I’m so glad I did! We now order from here regularly. The food is fresh and tasty, and The prices are reasonable. Free delivery for purchases over $ 25(and with sushi, that’s not so difficult to do). Sometimes the place is short staffed so delivery might take a while. The restaurant itself is very simple in its décor, but don’t let that stop you from trying some yummy sushi.

Had some family over and it was cold outside so we just wanted to stay in. Found this place on Unilocal and showed they delivered. Craving sushi= perfect! We called in our order and they gave us a total but not time. 30 minutes passed so we called to see how long and they told us 30 more minutes. We were already starving so it felt like forever. It ended up taking a little over an hour before they showed up. The thing I didn’t like was they say they deliver but I could not find a menu online any where. Luckily some Unilocalers took pictures of menu because that is what we went off of. It is free delivery of $ 25 purchase which is easy to make with sushi. I am not a fan of raw fish or anything raw so I normally just stick with one type of roll and that’s the Crunch roll. I loved it here. Very tastey and the roll stayed a roll picking it up not falling apart. I ordered white rice which was good. My favorite thing was the egg roll. Soo delish! Crunchy, warm, full of flavor! Everybody ended up liking their choice of roll so I was very happy with this place. Good to know there’s a sushi place nearby that delivers for those lazy days!

My experiences has been that Whittier doesn’t have the best Japanese food. However, I had a hankering for spicy tuna, I checked out Unilocal and noticed this spot delivered and is inexpensive. Sounds too good to be true. My boyfriend and I dined in, I wanted to check it out in person before getting it delivered(what if it had ended up looking crazy on person. Nuh uh, can’t mess around with raw fish). This little place was small, had the feel of a fast food restaurant. I wasn’t sure about staying. However, the food was good and very inexpensive! Service was excellent. I’m not saying the food was fantastic, it was okay, it was good. To sum it all up, I’ve been to other sushi spots in Whittier, paid double, and the food at those spots was on par with this little joint. If i have to eat sushi in Whittier, I’d go here over any other spot. Oh yeah, just a tip– delivery is with a minimum purchase of $ 25, and within a 3 mile driving radius.

This place is AWESOME. The food is so delicious. I think it’s downtown Whittier or looks like a downtown, lots of little shops down the streets. We went here after we hiked up Hellman Trail and we were famished! We actually were looking for a wing stop type of place but couldn’t find it, dang navigation took us in circles. I swear there’s a little person in there punking people and getting us lost and laughing hysterically. But we knew it had to be close so we picked an open parking spot, low and behold, right smack dab in front of Hanarum Sushi. These are all storefront little places and this one was sure inviting to two famished hikers on a hunt for a meal. We looked at each other with no words spoken but only a point and a nod, we were in sync. Let us break break right here. The place was empty, lol, in fact we looked at the menu first in the window as i mouthed to the person inside«are you open?» and she nodded yes. So walk in we did. I quickly scanned the huge brightly lit menu and eyeballed a curry dish with fried shrimp tempura and rice and said that’s what i want with a glass of water please. We both ordered the same and it took a little while to get to us but before you knew it were getting our grub on. The tempura shrimp were nicely battered, crunchy, hot and delicious. The curry had a great taste, little bit of sweetness to it, there were potatoes, carrots. and rice. and a cabbage salad with a wonderful tasting dressing. We asked what the dressing was and she said a secret recipe. I started smacking my lips as i started calling out ingredients i was tasting. i said it’s a play on thousand island but lighter. smack, smack. mayo, ketchup, a hot sauce, while she replied, yes… yes. yes. She would not divulge any secret ingredients other than what i already said but it was spectacular though. Will definitely be back. As we left she said«see you next week». Hahahha… love this place. My new«go to» place after a hike.
