What a quaint little theater! If you get a chance to go here, do so! You will not be disappointed! We saw David Lindley and Scott Ainsley here last night. Great guitarists both of them. Only about 100 people. Every seat was great! We sat in the 4^th row center. I was able to cross my legs because the aisles were wide enough. That’s a big plus for me because if I can’t my hips start to hurt. Free parking. $ 25 ticket. What more could you ask for? Maybe if it was closer (to us in Burbank). Whittier is not that fwy close. Awesome theater!

Saturday, September 28, 2013 we attended the 3’0 Clock performance of The Lim Family Generations. (3pm & 8pm showings) This was the kick off show of the 2013 – 2014 Aloha Series and it was a GREAT way to start it off! First timers to the venue, they did not disappoint.
The show was of great quality! They started with a slide show of how the family arrived in Hawaii and also did the dragon dance paying homage to their Chinese heritage. They were also joined by the next generations of this talented family. The hula dancers, sons & daughters of the singers, were on point. Professionals. Sonny’s daughter also joined her dad in a slack key duet. Hearing from the artists themselves how each song came about or what the songs mean to them makes it extra special in this intimate venue.
Their voices, each uniquely beautiful, compliment each other and come together in effortless harmony. These voices are of old time Hawaii. These groups in this series have played alongside braddah Iz Kamakawiwo’olé. This is the real deal. If you never been to Hawaii, miss Hawaii, if you have a love for the music or anything Hawaiian or maybe just a love for music in general, I suggest a night out on the town to witness Hawaii’s best.
Replace movie night with some culture.
The atmosphere is mature and respectful.
Tickets cost 45.00 + 5.00 fee = 50 $ each
Sometimes before the afternoon show they’ll have a live entertainment on the patio outside of the center to enjoy while you wait for the show to start. Come early to make the most of your time.
Intermission gives you enough time to look around the tables in the lobby where they hold raffles and sell merchandise like fresh flower leis, cds, and t-​shirts. The snack bar sells bottled water, can soda, cookies, candy, & rice crispy treats to name a few. (No food allowed in the venue, only bottled water)
Disappointment: Open seats. We really need to spread the word about this series. These shows are not always a sell out, but they should be.

Saturday, May 18, 2013 we attended the afternoon performance of the Brothers Cazimero, Hawaii’s premier singing duo. What a treat!
First, let me talk about the venue. The Ruth B. Shannon Center for the Performing Arts is so easy to find on Philadelphia/​Painter, next to Whittier College. Nestled in a tree-​lined section of old town Whittier.
The auditorium is cozy, intimate and comfortable, seating for 403 patrons. Whether seated in the orchestra section or the balcony every seat offers an unobstructed view to the stage. As another Unilocaler said, tickets were $ 40 if bought early, later in the season $ 45. Still a steal for a professional show.
Lots of convenient parking behind the auditorium, to the north or across the street at the college.
The Brothers Cazimero performed old favorites (Kaimana Hila, May Day is Lei Day, Home in the Islands, just to name a few), a lovely tribute to Don Ho, and many selections only in Hawaiian. A fantastic show. No junk. They catered to their audience, lovers of true Hawaiiana.
How lovely to experience live music. The blending of their two voices, so mellow and pure. And the dancers. One female hula dancer glided across the floor with grace and skill. Her arms athletically toned, her movements sheer poetry. Seven male dancers performed kahiko and auana style dances — strong and commanding, sharp and agile.
We had a blast and will return to see them again next year.
The Brothers Cazimero/​troupe have been part of Whittier College’s Aloha Concert Series for the past 19 years. They’re the last performers of the series every year, and will return next May to celebrate their 20 year anniversary.

My wife and I went to see Kealii Reichel perform at this auditorium. This place is small and intimate which is great. I met with Shane the stage manager and Ron, who is an assistant manager and they were very accommodating. My friends forgot their tickets and Ron was gracious enough to take the time to find out where they would be sitting and printed tickets for them to sit with our group. In this theatre, there are no bad seats in the house. I would definitely recommend going to performances here, specially the Aloha series! Shane and Ron, you guys rock!

The Shannon Center is a wonderful little venue, which I’ve attended multiple times for their Aloha Hawaiian Music Concert Series.
There is seriously not a single bad seat in the house! The theatre seats less than 300, creating an incredibly intimate feel, allowing you to be up close and personal with the artists. At $ 40/​performance, it’s a steal!
In terms of the Aloha Concert Series, it is seriously the BEST for old school Hawaiian music. 2012 boasts regulars The Makaha Sons and Brothers Cazimero, but will also feature Lehua Kalima of Na Leo AND Mr. Keali’i Reichel himself (already sold out unfortunately).
So if you’re missing da islands and need your local music fix, be sure to check out the Shannon Center. Hana hou!
