Hilton Garden Inn Williamsburg

Not as good as it used to be. Feels old and the management is slipping. We were greeted well enough, but there was an even bigger greeting waiting in our room! See picture attached!

Also, the restaurant staff were not very kind. It used to be nice old ladies that really cared and remembered if you were a frequent traveler. Now it’s just the opposite.

Robin checked us in and was wonderful! She saw to all our needs. Very nice room and a beautiful hotel!

The only reason for this hotel not receiving the 4 stars it deserves is because the front desk person Joe is the worst. Not sure why he would be helping patrons he has no customer service skills. He is rude and just plain mean. When I was checking in he was complaining about how the government patrons billing was always coded wrong. I don’t know why he was offering this to me. I felt super uncomfortable.
The room I stayed in was clean and comfortable just in need of updating. I will stay again but that front desk man needs to go.

It is always great coming home. This hotel has been a favorite for years. The renovations are an improvement and the rooms are next. Very clean and well cared for. Service is great.

The common areas and the rooms are a little dingy, but not too terrible. The beds aren’t very comfortable and the shower head in my room was abysmal. My biggest concern was the dishonesty of the staff, however. I called immediately after checking out about an item left in the room, noting exactly where it had been left, and it had already gone «missing.» The staff was not very helpful in looking into the matter.

I really liked this hotel, it’s located right in downtown, the big hall at the entrance looked very nice, the breakfast should be included and they should upgrade the TVs. Good beds, clean and quiet room, except the toilet wasn’t cleaned well. AC worked fine. Overall imo one of the best hotels if you plan to have a family vacation in Williamsburg.

This is a delayed review, as we stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Williamsburg back on ⁶⁄₁₃ — 6÷14÷2015 for the Challenge Williamsburg 70.3 race.
We arrived just after 4pm, only to be told by the gentleman behind the desk (Kevin?) that our reservation had been cancelled by HILTON because they had trouble putting the credit card through, which incidentally only happened because they tried to put it through from more than than the online registration or email confirmation said the charge would be. I asked the gentleman if he could re-​book us, and after checking availability, told us that he could, but that the rate we had initially booked was no longer available. This was ridiculous, given the only reason the initial booked rate was no longer available to us was that HILTON cancelled the reservation. Finally, after some back and forth, the gentleman gave us the lower rate, but wanted it to be very clear he was doing us a big favor. The bigger favor would have been not to cancel the reservation in the first place.
We finally get checked in and took the elevator up to our room. Stepping off the elevator, we were met with a wave of stifling heat that was only slightly cooler than the 90 degree temps outside — the temperature in the 4^th floor hallway was 84 degrees! Luckily the individual a/​c unit in our room itself worked fine. When I called the front desk about the stifling heat on the 4^th floor, they referenced the fact that it was a hot day outside, and that we were on the top floor after all, like this was normal for them on hot days. I can’t imagine what that floor would be like in July and August. I didn’t check any of the lower floors, but this definitely was not a problem on the main floor.
Just to be clear, the room itself was fine, but the customer service — run around at check-​in, attempt to charge a higher rate, and excuses about the excessive heat in the hallway on the 4^th floor, blaming it on the hot outside temps — is below you Hilton. Up your game or move to the sidelines.
We will be thinking twice about our hotel choice if we race Challenge Williamsburg again next year.

I travel for business often and stayed at other Hilton Garden Inns, this one is a bit outdated inside the rooms. The deco in the lobby area doesn’t match what is in your room at all. Wish it did.
Old furnishings, not quite queen sized beds (have one at home much wider than those in the room). The beds are not those with buttons like sleep number or those that are adjustable in comfort like other beds in other Hilton’s. Standard spring mattresses that can use updating. Carpet is dated, suggest wearing slippers or flip flops.
Bath tub usually comes with tub mat that you can step on, but not here so didn’t go barefoot in tub. No fans in the bathroom so with a party of 5, if someone goes #2, keep door closed and ask to do courtesy flush during. You’ll smell it when they open the door. Eww right!
Kids love the 24hr indoor pool. Parents can get private time with that ;-)
Cookies were awesome especially when just baked. They offered choco chip and peanut butter. Yum! Naturally flavored fruit water available, that varies day to day.
Breakfast was great! Free with our stay but $ 9+ per adult and $ 5 for kids. Worth it. They have various fruit juices avail and many options to choose from. They had eggs, sausage, bacon, grits, biscuit and gravy, cereal, bagels and made to order omelets and waffles.
Check in was great and the bar! $ 9 for a margarita that is yummy and conveniently able to take up to your room and enjoy.
Convenient to nearby shops and restaurants. Bring lots of $$ for the premium outlets nearby. cha ching!

My family and I were shocked. Comparing this hotel to a Hilton we stayed at outside the country that we loved. Terrific service, professional staff, breakfast was delicious and staffed with friendly people who were attentive to any needs. Complimentary coffee in the morning and Cookies and Citrus water in the afternoon. 7 minute drive to Busch Gardens or Water Country USA. From the hotel you can walk to shopping, restaurants, ice cream shops, bakeries, CVS or Rite Aide; It’s all right there. We loved that the fitness center and indoor pool and spa are open 24 hours a day. A great place to stay for a short or long vacation.

We always go out to eat or shop on Richmond Road when we’re in Williamsburg but never noticed the Hilton Garden Inn. The hotel is tucked behind the Seafare Restaurant and Red Hot & Blue. We got there around noon and asked to check in but the lady at the desk said our room type wasn’t available yet after she looked up my reservation. She also said she couldn’t sell me discounted tickets to BG until we were checked in. That was odd, especially since she knew I had a reservation. It definitely would’ve been a big issue if I didn’t already have plans to buy the season tickets. I was just curious about how much they were selling them for but I let it go. She did let us into the business center and I was able to buy and print out the season passes in less than 5 minutes.
We came back at around 6 pm and checked in quickly. They had fresh chocolate chip cookies, coffee, tea and iced lemon water available next to the front desk. The lobby was gorgeous and looked nothing like the design of the hallways or the room my family stayed in for only one night. But the room itself was okay, more of a traditional look with 2 double beds, desk and chair. Especially for a quick trip to Busch Gardens. We walked over to Red Hot & Blue for dinner and it was nice to not have to drive anywhere. There were enough towels for all of us in the bathroom along with Neutrogena toiletries. Flat screen TV seemed to work fine except on MTV. Not a big deal but I did notice it kept blinking out. Also, the Keurig’s power went on and off so we couldn’t use it for coffee in our room. There may have been a small electrical issue in that room. I didn’t complain because we were there for less than 15 hours. I’d definitely stay at this hotel again if the price is right.

My fiancé and I spent the weekend here for our babymoon. We were welcomed warmly by the woman manning the front desk. Check-​in was easy and effortless.
Our room was neat, clean and spacious. Perfect for just the two of us. I loved having the mini Keurig in our room. We put it to good use during our stay.
We had the bed and breakfast deal, which included the price of the breakfast buffet with the price of our room. The buffet was worth it — there were a variety of breakfast foods and a chef made waffles, pancakes and omelets cooked to order.
The only complaints I had was the quality of the bed sheets. They were thin and scratchy. We had a hard time getting to sleep because of that. Despite that issue, we will definitely come back to this hotel the next time we visit Williamsburg.

We checked inn feb 2 2015 for one night. 3 issues I can share that I never experienced in previews hampton inns!

1. The heater was taped up with duck tape, is warm and noisy that you will wake up! Ended up turning it off the night .
2. Bathroom smells cigarettes or marijuana!
3. Just checked my credit card, they been authorizing 105d plus twice now!
Very dissapointed Bec I felt we were just staying in a cheap motel, which you surely can experience all this!

Nice garden inn. Have stayed here several times and the staff is always friendly, breakfast is always good, and the rooms are always clean. Pool and fitness open 24 hours. There are a bunch of restaurants within walking distance. Good place.

There are several hotel choices in the Williamsburg area. But, if you are looking for A+ customer service, this should be your selection.
The hubby and I were visiting Williamsburg for our anniversary. We booked the «Couple’s Getaway» package. When we arrived, our room had been upgraded and our fresh beautiful flowers, chocolates and champaign awaited us. Our package also included a $ 50 certificate to the Seafare. Excellent food and service!
The hotel staff was very professional, helpful and knowledgable. For the few questions and issues we had, the staff immediately and happily addressed them and made our stay a great experience.

My boyfriend and I booked a 4-​night 5 day mini vacation to Williamsburg through
and got a pretty good deal for this hotel/​flight/​rental car.
Our room was a standard double bed room complete with free wifi, microwave, refrigerator and Keurig which we fully utilized on a daily basis. Our room was clean, beds cozy, pillows a little too soft. The shower had good water pressure and an adjustable showerhead, plenty of towels, soap, etc that were replaced daily when used.
We used the pool and workout room one day of our trip… both unimpressive. The fitness room had 2 treadmills (1 wasn’t working), precor, and free weights. Towels were supplied in both areas but unless you wipe down the machines yourself I never saw anyone from the staff go into the fitness room to do so.
The staff… we were greeted every morning by the front desk and waitresses who were exceptionally friendly, helpful and courteous. We seemed to give the front desk receptionists more info about restaurants in the area then they knew themselves, but they were very appreciative and pleasant. We asked for extra towels one morning before we left for Virginia beach and we had to track down maid service because they didn’t have any behind the desk… small nuisance. Our room was always tidy and clean when we got back from our days activities .
The breakfast… although not included, we were asked if we had vouchers (still unsure how or if we were able to get any) otherwise all-​you-​can –eat buffet was well worth the $ 9.95 if your a big breakfast person like my bf (he literally had 6 plates of food in front of him every morning!). Omelets, French toast and pancakes are made-​to-​order and delicious! They also had bacon, sausage, hash browns, muffins, toast, bagels, cereal, fruit, and a multitude of beverages.
Of all the hotels in the area I agree with the high rating this hotel received. I’d definitely stay here again!

The room was very clean, I feel like the bed was very uncomfortable. I woke up at 3pm, because the bed made me cannot fall asleep again. The air condition was very noisy! Cannot open it when you are sleeping.

I stayed here for a business trip, but it felt more like I was on a little vacation. I loved that it was so quiet, even with so many families with small kids staying at the hotel. The lobby was very inviting with free coffee and cookies, and I really liked that the staff is approachable without being overwhelming.
One thing to remember is that breakfast is not free, it costs a little under $ 10.

A little getaway and this is one of the nicest hotel here in Williamsburg. My hubby had booked it late so we wind up being in the handicap room… smh. This room of course is larger than your standard room and the bathroom had the wheelchair accessible shower. It was weird taking a shower and holding a hand held showerhead. It took me back in the dorm bathroom in college, so all I can do is laugh!
They have a heated pool/​jacuzzi and fitness room with only 2 treadmills, 1 elliptical and free weights.
The breakfast buffet was $ 9 per person with eggs, meats, waffles, pancakes, cereal, toast, Danish, grits on the day we were there.

Friendly staff, nice lobby with gas fireplace and free coffee and cookies. Enjoyed the hot tub after a day out in the cold. The room was ok, clean and big, but a bit dated. The A/​C was noisy and woke me up at 7 am. Overall a good place in a good location.

Came for a mini vacay on a business trip. The people here are very nice and very quiet. The area was very nice. There’s breakfast was very good I enjoy my stay here and would come again this was very nice. Also they have wine and few beers for sale till 11:45. Also frozen good and ice cream :-)
