Fairfield Inn & Suites Williamburg

Well, breakfast sucks at this place. Not much to choose from, and no healthy options. One of the ladies in the kitchen staff, said that she has constantly asked her manager to change the breakfast options because of client complaints about this. She claims its a money issue. Well, the dried over processed eggs, and all the pork bacon and sausage options are cheap, and not that great for a guest to eat all the time.
Our house keeper get the 5 stars in this. She was a cute older lady, and when ever she saw us in the hall, she always checked on us, and made sure we didn’t need anything for our room. Minus all the other staff we saw, they were really rude and not friendly. Talking badly about other guest in the hotel and other staff members.
The concierge at the front were always nice and friendly when we walked in.

Hotel was recently remodeled. Lobby, pool and exercise area are all nice. Rooms are nice although bathrooms could use some updates. New mattresses and furnishings in rooms. I travel to Wburg a lot and this is usually where I stay. You can’t beat the location and the price is usually right.

For the most part I only stay at Marriott brand hotels. I am giving this hotel a 4 star rating because the bed was too soft for me and there was not a good variety at breakfast compared to other Marriott’s that I’ve stayed. You all should strongly consider having a turkey alternative for breakfast meat and adding potatoes for those who are vegetarians and plain vanilla yogurt.
I thought about going to the pool and hot tub that opened at 6am but it was apparent it hadn’t been clean from the night before when I peeked in at 7:30am, so I passed up on that and just went back to sleep.
The staff. WOW! They are supper nice and very customer friendly oriented! Great job team!
The parking was horrible but what do you expect when the hotel is near full capacity? I did get a parking space.
The hotel is located near some great food places that you won’t find in your neighborhood at home which was great! The only thing I didn’t like is that it’s hard to get out the hotel parking lot onto Richmond Rd as its non-​stop traffic… good thing I know how to use my DMV driving skills to get myself out.
Overall, this was a nice stay, clean, relaxing atmosphere which was what I needed for this weekend! I saw kids but didn’t hear them which was GREAT! Thanks Marriott!

I walked into my room and there was a bug on the curtain. Not a good way to start my stay there. In addition, there was schmutz on the wall, which was not pleasant to look at. I suppose they clean the rooms once in awhile, but I got a dirty vibe when I was there. The one thing they had going for them is that there is a chipotle across the street. Also, they served continental breakfast which raised it to 2 stars for me. I could handle a few nights there, but anything over 4 days at this hotel would have been tough. There may have been bugs crawling on me at night, that’s why I couldn’t go to sleep! Gross!

I am currently staying at the Fairfield Inn and I think it is pretty darn good. The room is really nice, free internet, and decent hot breakfast. Great location to William and Mary. Front desk was cordial, and really quick check in. Got a great room right next to the main lobby which is a bonus, imo. Only downside is the parking is crazy, but that is not really something they can control when hotel is full. My son said pool is great.

Worst Customer Service Experience Ever
Over the last twenty years I have traveled to many places and stayed at many hotels but I will never return to this hotel. If you forget your belongings at this hotel, you will not get them back.
On the last day of our stay at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Williamsburg, 2 hours before checkout (9am) the housekeeper started banging on the door to checkout, we told her that there was still 2 hours until checkout. We felt rushed and began hurrying to leave this room; in a rush I forgot a small closet of my clothes! I realized later in the evening and I began calling the hotel to have my nice clothes sent back to me since I live six hours away.
I called 10 times and the front desk girl would only say that the person in charge of housekeeping would call me back; every time I would call, she would give me the same excuse that they were looking for the clothes and would not transfer me to the person in charge.
After many attempts and no answer, I called once again and the front desk girl finally transferred me to Joy (the person in charge of housekeeping) who said that they have so many items that are left behind and it would take a while to find them, she also added that she had to speak with the housekeeper to find out where she put my clothes. Joy was seemed very annoyed by my phone called and did not seem as if she was truly trying to help find the clothes; I begged her to try and find the clothes and she responded that they were not responsible. How disorganized is the housekeeping staff that they find a closet full of clothes and no one knows where it is?! This is not a huge hotel, even airports are more organized.
Joy said she would call me back once she located the clothes and/​or provide me with an update. I never got a call back from Joy. I called the hotel again and the front desk girl Kathryn said that they don’t have the clothes or can’t find them.
How can a closet full of clothes just go missing? ! I hoped that the staff would help me in returning my clothes but they just blew me off.
Not only will I never stay at this hotel again, I will also advise others to do the same.

As a platinum elite member, we stay exclusively with the Marriott brand.
The only reason this hotel received one star is because I wasn’t allowed to give them zero stars.
We checked in and were given a room in the basement. The room is filthy, stinks like mildew and I have asthma so I’m having issues breathing, the fecal stains in the toilet, the stuck on, dried hair the entire length of the tub, the brown stains on the white shower curtain, the dried on brown sticky substance between the beds behind the night stand and the filth on the interior walls on the side of the bed, tell me this property should no longer be in the Marriott brand nor have they maintained the Marriott standards.
I am so disappointed. This is the second time we stayed here. The first time I thought I was disappointed and that room was just old, dated and worn but a year later this hotel has declined tremendously. It needs a visit from the health inspector.
Do not stay here. If they will give a room such as this to a platinum elite member, then they have no regard for any guest.

This is a basic hotel and meets the need at a good price. The rooms appear to have been recently renovated and have clean tiles, granite countertops in the bathrooms, and new modern carpet. We had a nicely sized suite, and while all of the suites are right next to the elevator we had no problem with noise. The people working here are friendly. The free breakfast is decent – about what I would expect. My kids loved the indoor pool! Overall, nothing fancy – I would describe it as utilitarian – but good.

I think that this is one of the better inns to stay at if you’re in the Williamsburg area, whether you’re in town for a wedding, for a school graduation, or in town visiting. Fairfield Inn & Suites is under Marriott, and the place is well-​kept and clean. The staff is also friendly, and they serve HOT complimentary breakfast in their dining area. they used to have breakfast corndogs (cornbread with sausage) and Jimmy Dean’s bacon n’ egg breakfast sandwiches, but have upgraded to corn beef hash and scrambled eggs. They also provide breakfast pastries, toast, bagels, cereal, fresh fruit (apples, oranges, bananas), waffles, juices, milk, and coffee. They also have a pool, complimentary wi-​fi, a business center, a fitness center, and individual climate control in the suites. The place also have free parking for guests and close to all major attractions. Renovation is currently on-​going, but have not affected the guests’ stay.

To start, the hotel is under construction. Luckily, the staff takes good care to make sure any disruption from construction is minimized. It didn’t bother us at all. They were painting the ceiling in the hallway during our stay.
The customer service during our first two days was some of the best I’ve experienced. The very polite and accommodating staff made our stay extremely pleasant. The room was beautiful and clean. There were plenty of pillows and towels.
The pool was HUGE! It was one of the biggest I’ve seen.
Breakfast was a bit crowded. We were there on spring break and the hotel must have been at capacity because it was very very crowded during breakfast. Waffles, eggs, and turkey sausage made up the bulk of the breakfast.
I would absolutely stay at this hotel again and recommend it to friends, even with the construction going on.

I am a Marriott rewards member and with the exception of one Marriott property, they have always been great all around. This one was just OK. It was clean, the employees were very nice, and the breakfast was great with many choices to be had. Those are the positives, the negative is that the property is old, and it shows. Everything, from the carpet, the sheets, the blankets, the bathrooms, everything was very weathered. This building needs a good refurb! I went down with my daughter for a soccer tournament last weekend, and it was very, very cold that weekend. The covers on the beds were very thin, so I ordered extra blankets. The blankets must have been washed a few hundred times and were as thin as paper. We didn’t freeze, but it just wasn’t up to Marriott’s usual standards. This is a very common destination for us, and I would be willing to give this hotel another try if it was updated just a bit.

Pretty large Fairfield inn, so can usually find some good rates. They often offer an elite member rate that is impossible to beat in the area. Facilities are pretty old, but not completely run down and they have the flat screens. Breakfast was large and lots of hot food options.

Thinking it was affiliated w/​Marriott we figured «quality.» Room was small compared to then Courtyard Marriott we had just checked out of on the first leg of our trip to/​in Va. Front desk employee was kind enough but short at the same time. Room was small (especially since the cost was the same price as the Courtyard we had just sent two nights in, and twice as large). Room was damp. Pink mold in shower (which we didn’t use). Sink basin was not attached to counter (falling out of), see pics. Pool was cold (advertised as heated), hot tub is not jetted (no biggy) and pool building was dirty, moldy, caked dust in air vents. Continental breakfast was typical and fine. Bed and pillows were comfy, thank goodness because it did not look it. Wi-​Fi and even 4G availability were very sketchy at best, which was quite frustrating. Room fridge and microwave included were clean. Will upload pics soon as I’m in a shared computer.
Location was great however. They do offer military (we used) and AAA discounts. Military discount was significant!

Stayed here a couple of weeks ago and was a bit hesitant based on the one-​star reviews. But, I had a free night’s stay at Marriott that was close to expiring, so this is where we ended up.
Front Desk: Very courteous and welcoming. Based on another review, I asked if we could upgrade to a suite, which they were happy to oblige. The suite was excellent, but for some reason the remote didn’t work on the bedroom TV, so they suggested moving us into another available suite. No problems with the room.
Breakfast: Despite the appearance of vacant rooms galore, there were some rather large groups (school athletes?) occupying the other wing who descended upon the free breakfast like a starving student at the Hometown Buffet. The area was large enough, but I think the staff had a hard time keeping up with the traffic congestion caused by the families attempting to salvage anything the students didn’t already plunder and pillage.
Great location between Colonial Williamsburg and the outlets, plus easy access to the New Town area. One of our favorite Mexcian restaurants, Plaza Azteca, and a movie theater are within walking distance.

My family and I stayed in this hotel for my brother’s graduation in May. At first glance the hotel seemed fine, we checked in and went to find our rooms. The first problem we encountered was that the hotel gave my grandparents a room that already had people in it! We arrived late, probably close to 11:30 and the people in the room were sleeping. My grandparents had a key that opened the door surprising the poor sleeping couple. Luckily my room was right next door and I could hear the entire exchange taking place (thin walls just adds to the list of things wrong with this hotel). I quickly pulled my grandparents into my room to call the front desk and sort the mess out. They apologized and gave them a new room, but didn’t offer any discounts for such a major mistake. The second problem was the next morning when I went to make coffee with the coffee maker in the room only to discover it was full of mold inside.
The biggest problem happened after we checked out. We had booked 3 rooms, 2 were paid by 1 person’s credit card and the 3^rd was paid by another card. The first card was charged for 3 rooms– including the room that we were originally given with the wrong keys! We have been battling with the hotel for almost 4 months trying to get this refunded. We finally had to get the credit card company involved. As a Marriott rewards member we chose this hotel because it is associated with the Marriott brand. After staying here I can’t believe that Marriott continues to put it’s name on this hotel.

I just returned from my stay at this establishment and I was impressed for the value. Upon entering the hotel it was nice and clean and the front desk attendant was very nice and polite. The hotel even upgraded our room to a suite as we were celebrating a birthday and they did everything possible to ensure our stay was a pleasant one. The rooms were a tad small, but hey I wasn’t looking to move in and thought it was roomy enough for my party and we felt comfortable staying there.
The continental breakfast was definitely a plus and they had a variety of items to choose from.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again anytime I’m visiting the Williamsburg area and would recommend it to others.

STAY AT YOUR OWN RISK!
When you think of any Marriott property, even their budget stays, you think of quality. Not so with this property. It’s one of the more expensive stays in the area (minutes away from Bush Gardens and Historical Williamsburg)…rated as a 3-​Star /​3.5 (depending on who you’re reading), yet the rooms are something you’d expect from a low-​brow mom and pop motel.
Don’t let the outside photos on Marriott’s Web site deceive you.
Our room was small (tiny compared to most other Marriott’s or competitors properties), the mattresses thin and uncomfortable. The rooms have WALL UNIT AIR CONDITIONERS, which are poorly fitted which left our room muggy and damp! Our wet clothes from the water park (over the course of three days) couldn’t dry in the room it was so poorly insulated. The bedding had lipstick all over it. The TV was old and only had basic cable, no PPV. The breakfast was limited to muffins and yogurts. There was near zero cell reception for both AT&T or T-​Mobile. They only have a handful of roll-​aways btw, for a hotel that’s quite large.
The wireless Internet worked and was one of the only bright spots.
The staff is «okay» but matter-​a-​fact and not what you’re used to from usually very friendly and «how can we make you happy» Marriott.
The hotel staff and management told me they would not honor the AAA rate even though Marriott reservations made the mistake and didn’t add it. When I discovered it hadn’t been added, I called the front desk and was bluntly rebuffed as if I was just a customer who didn’t count. No offer to even look into it, even though they acknowledged they had a AAA rate of $ 139 vs the $ 159 we were being charged. It took me an hour of holding with Marriott customer service to get the situation resolved. Marriott customer service was fantastic and extremely apologetic. They didn’t even let me explain all the issues, as they went to work immediately to make things right. But incredibly, even though Corp CS told the hotel manager to change it, they had forgotten to do so at check-​out.
For $ ¹⁵⁹⁄₁₃₉ per night, we should have stayed at a Hampton (which was rated lower… but all Hampton’s have been updated inside) or the Sheraton. I wouldn’t stay at this Marriott property again, even if they offered a room and attraction tickets for free. You’ve been warned.
The good news, is this Marriott property is an anomaly, as most Marriott’s are first class, unfortunately this was a bad egg in their carton.
