I had primerib and it was done to perfection. Everything was wonderful from the roaring fireplace to our doting waitress. My girlfriend and I felt like we were treated like royalty. If you want to go to a restaurant where there is friendly atmosphere and great food that is definitely worth the price go to Gala’s! I will definitely be returning.

First of all, for the price point, the food was not«A-OK» as my 3-Star rating would lead one to believe. That being said, however, the food was not so terrible as to turn me off to the overall experience completely, which was pretty solid. The wait staff was exceptional, the atmosphere pleasant, and the wine good($ 9/glass). Now for the meal: We were given some fish to try as well as their bread and maple butter, all of which was pretty good. I then started with the Soup du Jour($ 8), which was a Winter Bisque. It was fine — good color and texture with a nice presentation of balsamic vinaigrette on the top, but the taste was far too sweet. Off to a bad start, but I had high hopes moving forward… …that is until the entrée came. I ordered the Quail Special for the day($ 22) which ended up being a burnt, dry mess. The color was an off-putting shade of brown, and the meat was barely seasoned/marinated. The Wild Jasmine Rice Pilaf it came with was only slightly better, and for something that was hard and rubbery, that is saying something. The only saving grace at this point was the dessert. I ordered the Vanilla Crème Brûlée($ 9), thinking that’s a hard item to screw up considering it’s mostly just sugar on sugar; my gamble paid off — it was as good an effort at this dish as I have had at other restaurants in the same price point, so good on them. We also received some chocolates as treats from the kitchen which were also good. To sum up — the food served here is absolutely not worth it for the price they are charging. I am surprised that people still attend frequently. However, if you take out the restaurant portion from the equation, and treat it as a café and bar, the place is pretty neat. Happy Eating!
