The Orchards Hotel

Second stay and really appreciated this place from the college-​road trip perspective. Orchards is charming inside and has everything you need: spacious, clean rooms with very comfy beds/​pillows, a decent workout facility, cozy library and lobby/​lounge area, restaurant/​bar, kind staff. If one of our kids ever goes to Williams, this will be our go-​to for sure.

Rooms are the biggest hotels rooms I’ve ever stayed in. If you’re looking for a more colonial theme stay, this is perfect. They bring you afternoon cookies and turn down your bed while you’re out at dinner. The pool was open but smaller than I had expected.
It’s not your stereotypical modernized hotel. I like the character it has. It’s perfect for rural berkshires. There’s at least a flat screen and A/​C. What more could you need?

Great hotel. Big rooms. Big bathrooms. Bathrobe provided! Fresh cookies there to greet you. And very good restaurant.

We thought that this was an elegant hotel in all respects, and a very good value. The breakfast on the pre-​paid voucher system was an especially good value. Previous reviewers have raised some issues; we did not experience any of them.

Room was nice and spacious. Bathroom lights were kinda old. Staff was nice and the lobby was beautiful.
The reason I give it a 3-​stars is because I was sitting on the chair in the room when I noticed a strange smell. I lifted up the cushion and found several molding tomatoes underneath. Obviously the place isn’t cleaned that thoroughly.

The Orchards Hotel is in no way the «luxury hotel» it claims to be on its website.
Pros: Our room was large and comfortable. Someone delivers tasty cookies before bedtime. The hotel’s location provides easy access to the Berkshires.
Cons: The furnishings are dated. The staff is mediocre. The amenities were nothing fancy (the pool was closed during my stay, for starters). Ultimately, the hotel is not worth the price.
I wouldn’t stay here again.

The room was lovely ., but it ought to be for $ 200/​night. The pool was closed (not sure why; they had advertised its being open).
The workout room (very small, btw) closes at 10 p.m. Room service shuts down at 10 p.m.
The «Library» is just a room with comfy seating, but it was 85 degrees in there (no A/​C).
For $ 200/​night you can do WAY better in the area.

After the shock of stepping back into the 80’s early 90’s, as I was soaking in my dark pink bath tub.

We traveled Eastern New York and Western Mass for two weeks. The Orchards Hotel had the best accomodations of anywhere we stayed.

I stayed here on New Year’s Eve weekend with my boyfriend. I can actually agree with 1 star review on some counts. The bathrooms are not quite as luxurious as you might expect for a 4 star hotel. However, they’re clean, and in working order. The rooms are beautiful. We got a room with a fireplace, and wow! It really made for a comfy room. It is a gas fireplace, not a wood burning, so you don’t get the crackling wood or the traditional fireplace smell. However, you do get the warmth, and it’s really pretty to look at. The room was large, with a four poster bed, a small couch, a table and chairs in the corner, a desk with an office chair. The front desk workers are really friendly, as are the housekeepers. We had no problems with noise, we were at the end of a long hallway, so I don’t think they’re were too many rooms nearby. The restaurant attached to the hotel was also very nice, and made getting a quality meal more convenient. It was pricey, but we really enjoyed our stay!

My husband and I took a much needed «staycation» here in April and had a really wonderful time. The location seems a bit random: situated across the street from a strip mall, but as you enter the elaborate stone driveway with its impressive gates and fountain, you feel instantly removed from the rural suburbia of Williamstown.
We booked the «Date Night» package, which was a really fantastic deal for just one night: wine and cheese delivered to our room, a room upgrade, 2 tickets to a movie in nearby North Adams, dinner for two in the hotel restaurant (Gala– you could order anything off the menu), and breakfast delivered to our room the next morning. The room was certainly quite spacious, and the bed very comfortable. We certainly felt pampered and relaxed, and the hotel staff was very accommodating.
We came right at the tail end of the off-​season, so I’m pretty sure there were less than a dozen people in the hotel. Regardless, I’d still go back for a weekend getaway. A really nice experience.
