Since 1985, Back to Basics has served the educational needs of over 11,500 students in Delaware, Pennsylvania and Maryland. Back to Basics is a tutoring service for children and adults of all levels, in over 60 subjects. We are also a Department of Education approved Private School for grades K-​12 and Business and Trade School for age 16 and above, both 1-​on-​1. We build self-​esteem and confidence in all our students. In addition, we provide translating and interpreting, educational consulting with parents, psycho-​educational testing, corporate education, summer school and high school original and make-​up credits. Back to Basics contracts with individuals, government agencies, schools, districts and businesses for their educational needs.

History

Established in 1985.

Beverly Stewart is honored by the Delaware Small Business Administration as the «2004 Small Businessperson of the Year.».

Later that year Back to Basics and one of its long-​standing tutors are quoted in Consumer Digest magazine as experts in the education field.

2005

Stewart becomes a regular guest contributor for Your Morning on CN8 as one of the area’s leading experts on education.

2007

Beverly Stewart is honored as one of Delaware’s «Business Hot Shots» by Delaware Today. Later in the year she is name one of Delaware’s «35 Top Women in Business» by the magazine.

2010

Back to Basics founder Beverly Stewart is inducted into the hall of Fame of Delaware Women. She joins such Delaware legends such as Ruth Ann Minner, Jane Brady and Valerie Woodruff for her contributions to education in the state of Delaware.

Back to Basics is honored for 25 years of exceptional service in education with the Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Ethics in Business.

Beverly Stewart, M.Ed. is the President and Director of Back to Basics Learning Dynamics, Inc. in Wilmington, Delaware. Founded in 1985, Stewart began her business as its sole employee. Now, 25 years later, her firm employs over 90 professional, degreed tutors, offers 60+ subjects for children and adults, and has served the varied educational needs of approximately 11,500 students in the tri-​state area. In addition, Back to Basics is a state-​approved Private School for students in Kindergarten through 12th grades in an unprecedented 1-​on-​1 teaching environment. Stewart’s insights have been featured in such national publications as Entrepreneur Magazine, The New York Times, and Consumer’s Digest. In addition, her story has been highlighted in nationally-​released books including The Educational Entrepreneur: Making a Difference and What No One Ever Tells You About Financing Your Own Business.
