Food: 4 Décor: 3 Ambiance: 3.5 Service: 3.5 Value: 3.5 This place is a delicious heart attack. Everything was over the top and decadent. Hot dogs with tons of toppings, chicken and waffles… and FRIEDOREOS. Definitely a good spot to treat yourself on rare occasions.

I love this place. It now has fried chicken which is also good. I usually like the 7 layer bowl 2 people can eat there for about 25 bucks. They offer vegetarian food and it is just as good. The atmosphere is like a 50s diner and it is kind of small, but we take everyone who comes to visit here cause it is unique and we’ll done.

Place is terrible. Dirty and food is subpar at best. Heard a worker there say that there fried chicken is the same recipe as Walt’s fried chicken which sounds pretty fishy to me. I would never go there it really is bad food for a ridiculous price.

I went to this hot dog place several times in the past 2 years but the last time I went to visit, I thought I’d get one of those hot dogs I really enjoyed. I was very disappointed as not only were they out of French fries, but the hot dog tasted hard and dried out. It wasn’t just my opinion but my fiancé as well. How can you be out of French fries at 7PM in the evening? It was a slow evening on top of that, so it seems that there should have been French fries.

Food was ok, came near closing time and felt a little rushed to get out. Foot long dog is a serious undertaking.

Awesome hotdogs, friendly staff, and a pretty cool little spot to eat in or take out. Just added fried chicken to the menu which I had a seriously craving for after the birds smashed the bills earlier that day. My wife and I ordered a 10 piece white meat meal which was so freaking good I considered painting it like one of them French girls. It’s not often when I get the fried chicken itch but when I do, I gotsta scratch it. I will definitely return for the chicken and the variety of different hotdogs when I’m not feeling the greasy goodness of deep fried bird. If only these guys would add actual good wings to the lineup I would consider leaving my wife for them. I’ve got issues and the lack of decent wings in north Wilmington is one of them. Make it happen fellas!

Here in the parking lot at 7PM. Both the web site and sign on their door says they close at 8PM on Sunday. What’s worse when I and another person tapped on the door in plain sight they all just ignored us. I’ve seen 4 other customers come as I wrote this. If they want to change their hours, fine, but until its posted they should honor the hours they have posted. I won’t be back.

Their hot dogs are pretty darn good! So are their fries. I think the fries might be battered and fried? Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, yum! However their sweet potato tots totally threw me off. Not sure if it’s supposed to be a dessert since it came w/some sweet stuff, but they came out like a solid ball of yam that was neither sweet or salty, not fried throughout like tater toes usually are… didn’t know what to make of it. No go for me. Their corndog seemed like your generic corn dog you can find anywhere. Kind of seemed undercooked so maybe below average. Since they do a realy good job with their hot dogs(and fries), 4 stars!

Dang these are good dogs. Take a good look at the menu because there are some great combinations. the Kobe beef dog is great and so are the deep fried oreos. My daughters had the mac and cheese and they both approved. The staff was really friendly, and this will become one of our regular stops

Fast food and great service. I got the Texas Ranger($ 3.99(Edit:compared receipt to menu, guessing everything went up 25 – 50 cents) — bacon, onions, bbq sauce) and onion rings($ 4.50 for 8 rings). The hot dog was tasty with the grilled bun and fixings, while the onion rings were phenomenal, though they had bumped up the price from $ 3.99. Sodas are free refill, with fresh chopped onions, relish, and spicy whole peppers out in bowls and ofc mustard and ketchup pumps. The joint was pretty clean, a few bugs flying around though, the walls are littered with pictures of customers too. They have the destroyer challenge if you’re up for that and new hot dog topping styles. I’d definitely come back if friends wanted to but other than it’s a cool place to visit at least once if you want to cross it off Guy Fieri’s list.

Stopped by for a quick bite while traveling and was pleasantly surprised to find the ‘Grilled Cheese Destroyer’. This grilled cheese on steroids included mac n cheese, pulled pork and bacon, delicious! The place itself is small with some seating, order and pick-up style. Would stop again to try one of their many hotdog varieties!

Have tried the place several times. It’s appeal is that it’s local — which I usually prefer. But, I just haven’t been blown away on any visit. The hot dogs are good, but they sadly were nothing special. I guess if you love topping selection this is a good place, but in a ‘only cheese’ kind of guy. I actually prefer the hot dog from Five Guys down the street to these. They have signs up at the street promoting their milkshakes as well — so I recently made a stop just to give the shake a try. Now I admit I’m picky with shakes — but I wasn’t impressed. My son didn’t even drink ½ of his. The shakes didn’t even compare to Sweet Lucy’s just a block away! My opinion. Give it a try. It’s a nice place. But there are better dogs.

Kobe hotdogs are awesome and the homemade potato chips are amazing. I stop here every time I’m in town. Wish I was a local and could come more often!

As for the nature of this hot dog stand it has earned 5 stars. The menu is great based in creativity and simplicity. You can’t get hung up for 45 minuets trying to decided. I like the giant hot dog concept although not willing to go that gigantic today. Also the Kobe beef dog option is a must try. I had mine NJ style which is their take on the Newark style Italian dog onions peppers and potatoes damn good but no substitute for the real thing. I also had my go to dog which is chili cheese and onions on their regular beef hot dog this too was very good. The grill the inside of the buns adding a bit of a crunch and allowing it to hold up to the toppings. The outside remains soft to easily squish it into your face. I didn’t get to try the fries but they looked and smelled terrific. I had the house made onion rings and they were sensation. The staff is great, quick and precise and they all seed pretty happy. The place in bright and also has a happy disposition. Remember folks it’s a hot dog stand so don’t expect anything more than that and you will as thrilled as I was. Oh yes this is a go to place from now on fore whenever I am working in the area.

A bit pricey for a hotdog shop but it is amazing!!! Anyone who visits– parents, boyfriend, friends — I take them here for a fun, informal lunch. It’s so hard to choose because the choices are awesome… chili? sauerkraut? mustard? cheese? cole slaw? I can never decide. The cheese fries are a must too. But they are all amazing. I am always tempted to try their desserts but by the end of the meal I am full. They offer vegetarian options as well and it is very clean inside as well.

Why oh why did I wait so many years to try this place? I guess maybe I just don’t always think«hot dog» when it comes to going out to lunch, but the other day, my daughter and I were debating where to stop for a quick bite, and we decided to give Johnnie’s a try since we were right down the street. We were glad we did! I tried the All American Dog with pulled pork, BBQ and slaw — it was perfect! She tried the Texas Ranger with bacon, BBQ sauce and grilled onions and enjoyed it. We also shared some fries which were really good too — love the skin-on kind. And they were salted just right. At that point, I figured I’d better get a couple to go for my husband, so I ordered another All American Dog and the Kennett Square Dog with grilled mushrooms and onions, Swiss cheese and steak sauce. He liked them and ate both of them and then sort of complained that they were too big/too filling for him. *Eyeroll* The actual hot dogs themselves were really good — not some little jiggly bendy little whitish franks that you might find elsewhere. They were nice solid beefy dogs — yum! Of course, the second time we got in line, my daughter just had to have an ice cream — nice soft serve ice cream is hard to beat and theirs was no exception. Definitely gonna be heading back there soon. Saw some good vegetarian options on the menu that my other daughter would like, not to mention the fried oreos, funnel cake, etc. and of course all the other hot dog combos on the menu. Yep. I can see myself heading back there within the next few weeks because to me, it was that good :)

Great little place to stop at for a hot dog. They have many topping options available — we tried the New York Style Classic, Boston, and Michigan Style Chili Dogs. The toppings were very good but the hot dogs themselves were only good(I guess I am spoiled by Ted’s in Buffalo). Will definitely be back here when I am in the area again.

Glad we stopped. Great variety of hot dogs, amazing homemade chips, also has veggie options and sandwiches if not everyone in your party wants a hot dog. Perfect for kids, mine loved the corn dogs. And there are milkshakes! Fun atmosphere.

Great place !! Friendly service. Perfect for kids and adults. Lots of choices. Mac and cheese dog for my kids and I usually get the Reuben dog with your choice of kraut or slaw. Onion rings, cheese fries, tots. All hot and cooked to order. Tasty shakes and fried Oreos are both winners for dessert.

If you’re in the mood for a hot dog, look no further. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and patient as we jumped around the menu and asked all sorts of questions. The dogs themselves aren’t anything special, but you can top them with a crazy number of combinations. The sides, ranging from the traditional onion rings and fries up to carnival fare like fried oreos. Fun for the entire family, but the price can be a bit more than you’d expect for a generic hot dog. Oh by the way, some really great looking vegetarian options exist here too. Don’t feel like you need to be a carnivore to have a meal at Johnnies. You really will have fun without trying!
