History

Established in 1909.

J.J. Ruddy is a fourth generation comapny that was originally founded in 1909 by John J. Ruddy. Since then, John Ruddy’s daughter, grandson and great grandsons have carried on the service traditions that he establsihed over a century ago.

Today, with the fourth generation at the helm, the business continues to grow with offices in Medford and Winchester. Local or not, clients reach out to J.J. Ruddy for expert advise on insurance protection and risk management. Currently, the agency services clients all over the state of Massachusetts and as far reaching as NH, VT, ME, RI and CT.

Business Owner

Since 1993, Ed and John Hackett, Jr. have combined their energy and talents to live up to their great-grandfather’s legacy of personalized service.

John Hackett, Jr. is an alumni of Saint Anselm College class of 1992. His professional training began with the first-​of-​its-​kind training program with Aetna in all their business units. John is a Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC) and has worked with small to large companies in all types of industries. John is a Past-​President of the Medford Rotary Club, a Corporator for Hallmark Health, and coaches Little League in his home town of Andover.

Ed Hackett is a 1993 graduate from Providence College. He completed his MBA from Bentley University in 2007. Ed is a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and a Certified Risk Manager (CRM). Ed has been a member of the Medford Rotary Club since 1994 where he served as Club Secretary for 11 years. He is a Corporator for Hallmark Health and coaches youth hockey in his hometown of Reading.
