Leonard Field

Leonard field is great. Most people who grew up here know of Leonard field as the «beach.» It used to have a beach people would go to until it closed due to pollution in the 1990s. It has been cleaned up recently and is now a great fishing spot (dont eat the fish though catch and release only). There is a free tennis court, basketball court and playground… the field is used for soccer… there isn’t very much parking though, the only drawback, especially when there’s soccer practices and right after school gets out at 3pm it can be traffic on Washington Street. The Tri Community Greenway path goes through Leonard Field, and eventually there will be a Winchester Community park nearby as well. The Next Door theater and Kidstock are right next door (youth theater, performing arts programs). Oh and Jack, I’m tired of the sterotypes of Winchester. Not Everyone in Winchester is wealthy, and not everyone are multi-millionaires…think before you write. Leonard field overall is a great place to take the kids… for an afternoon. I’ll never forget the italian feast festival carnival they used to have on Leonard field. A shame they ever let that be cancelled.

Located just down the street from the Gingerbread Construction Company, this is one of the big soccer fields in Winchester. Soccer is big with the rich folks. You didn’t grow up in Winchester unless you played soccer.
There is a teeny-​tiny parking lot for this field. There is also street parking avaiable — but be careful — Washington St is wicked busy.
After walking down a small hill, you’ll find the field in front of you — mostly people play soccer here. There is a basketball court too, which is in decent shape. There’s also a playground tucked in the back — and it’s all right. My nephews like it enough so that we go there from time to time. It has a little rock-​wall climbing thing and your typical jungle gym too. Kinda sunny here — no shade nearby. Sort of a long walk back to the car across the fields, but — well at least it’s never very crowded at this «hidden» playground…
