Dorothy & Leroy’s has closed. In its place is «A Soul Food Bistro» — opened just 2 weeks ago.

Went there 4 pm today(1÷10÷15) to try it out and it was CLOSED. Handwritten sign in door said ‘Mrs Dorothy retired. New soul food restaurant will open soon.”

I haven’t been to New Orleans in over 10 years, but I felt like I was eating at Coop’s this afternoon! The jambalaya(hot/spicy of course) was out of this world, and the ribs were some of the best I’ve had in any restaurant. The staff was very friendly, we met Dorothy, and just had a great overall experience.

When I first came in and was trying to place my order she kept walking away and talking to other workers. I could not finish my order without her walking away and talking to someone else. I felt like I was bothering her. After a few minutes she was polite and smiled. The food tasted great. The greens were outstanding! The lemonade was really good. I’m torn on going back.

My husband and I stopped in here for lunch one Saturday afternoon because we had a gift certificate. The place is cute and makes you feel like you are eating in someone’s home. I ordered the baked chicken with a salad and green beans. The chicken took a long time to come out but once it did, it tasted delicious! My husband had the shrimp etufee and he said it was delicioustoo! We also enjoyed warm corn bread and cheesy bread, all mouth watering good. My only complaint would be that the service was a little slow, but that will not stop us from coming back and enjoying some homestyle cooking.

I loved this place when it was in Bloomfield, and now the only difference is its bigger. Amazing food an awesome staff! Can’t wait to go back!
