Check out our gift department for new Maine items– great as souvenirs and gifts. We also have new displays of garden themed décor that is sure to put a Spring in your step. Check out beautifully painted canvases, rustic camp décor to spruce up the cottage, earth rugs in variety of sizes and styles and unique vintage items that you can’t find anywhere else.

Did you know we have hot lunch items daily? Check out what’s cooking in our kitchen: homemade stews and entrees, ready to go sandwiches and salads, fried items, pizza and fresh bakery goodies too.

Be sure to try our best selling tourtière pie– a perfect option for dinner tonight.

Also in our grocery section, be sure to find our locally made honey and other Maine made items that you can’t find at the big box stores. We proudly support locally/Maine made products.

History

Established in 1923.

Harland Hussey opened his grocery business in October 1923, when he remodeled an old stable. He also stocked some men’s wearing apparel. His son, Elwin, was born the same year Harland opened the business. Hussey’s Store gradually became the embodiment of the general store as associated with rural Maine. Lines of merchandise were added gradually until customers could buy anything from bubble gum to a shot gun OR a wedding gown! The bridal and formalwear department was opened in 1955 and is known for having a selection of quality formal wear at budget friendly prices.

Today the store is home to over 30,000 square feet of groceries, sporting goods, clothing, formal gowns, hardware and appliances. It truely defines the slogan «If We Ain’t Got It, You Don’t Need It».
