Went to Windsor to visit some relatives, so we decided to make a pre-​holiday visit through town. Mark Shimizu Designs is very easy to find on a corner. The displays are nicely arranged with ample space to observe each piece. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We got a nice silver necklace with a round charm. My wife got many compliments on her new jewelry. We highly recommend visiting this store.

LOVE this shop! My fiancé bought my ring there a couple months ago. Laurie (sorry if spelled wrong!) helped him pick out the perfect one! He was able to choose a diamond and place it on the band he wanted.
After proposing 2 weeks ago, we discovered the ring was a tad bit too big. So, I took it to get it sized down. Laurie was so patient with me as we tried to figure out the correct size. They were so gracious and genuinely happy for our us and our engagement. Mark was able to finish sizing it down by the next day and they had clearly polished it up and had it ready to go. It fits like a dream! I can’t stop gushing about my beautiful ring and the great service we got here.
When we’re ready to buy our wedding bands we will definitely shop here!

Mark was a family friend of my dear late Uncle. I live in Washington DC, and my cushion cut stone was loose in my engagement ring, and I was missing 2 small stones in the halo setting. I visited two of my local jewelry shops, and they quoted anywhere between 2 – 3 weeks. I love my engagement ring. I wear it everyday, and literally do not wear any other jewelry, so for me, this is a LIFETIME to be without it. Upon the suggestion of my mother, we spoke to Mark’s wife Lori, whom not only offered to squeeze us in without an appointment, but to also finish fixing my ring over the weekend while we were in CA. Upon returning from a weekend in Mendocino, I found the prongs and setting of my ring were completely reset, and instead of 4 prongs, it now essentially holds eight. Lori explained Mark and his business partner consulted, and felt it was the best way to preserve my stone — and I couldn’t LOVE it more.
His work is timeless, beautiful, honest and affordable. I simply couldn’t recommend him more to anyone. I cannot wait to return to his shop to have my sapphire reset next year on our annual visit. Thank you to the whole team — I can’t wait to return.

My great grandmother who is 92 years old wears her life alert button on a gold chain. Her clasp to the necklace broke so we set out to Shimizu design, as she heard they do wonderful work. We were kindly greeted by the two females working the counter, talked to us for a few mins, and got Mark out of the back. He took a look, gave us a few different options. We chose to go with the cheaper option since money was a little tight. He took it in the back, and 5 mins later he comes out with the necklace clasp replaced and cleaned the entire necklace. No charge, he just traded us for the little piece of gold that was broke.
I couldn’t believe it. I will be back for sure!

Really top notch jeweler. Nice attention to detail. They take pride in their work. Nice to find such a great jeweler in such a small town.

This is part one of a great review… My fiancée and I are getting married Sept 24^th. MSD has one of the best staff they have embraced my girlfriend and I in a personal way that I have never experienced. The joy we feel every time walking in there is so much fun… we are in deep gratitude for our beautiful rings… especially my wife to be with a beautiful gold customized oak leaf ring that brings me to tears when I see it… its an honor that we will be wearing the rings from MSD as part of our lives… Thanks everyone there we will come by with photos… love liz and jenni

I would also HIGHLY recommend MSD if you want something unique and beautiful. My engagement ring has a beautiful pink sapphire between 2 platinum roses with diamond centers. Mark is custom designing the wedding band now.
He also designed my fiancé’s wedding band — beautiful with gold nuggets all around.
You won’t be sorry if you go to MSD. The staff are so helpful and accommodating.

I had MSD apply a rhodium plating to my wedding set, as the last «coating» I had done over 4 years ago was wearing off. I have a nickel allergy, and since my wedding set is white gold, I get a terrible rash on my ring finger.
Anyway, Mario did a beautiful job with my rings and I thought the price was very reasonable. At first, after I picked it up (with only a couple day turn around-​wow), I still was getting an irritation. I was concerned that maybe the coating wasn’t thick enough. I called MSD and they were so helpful and nice. Mario did another layer for me at no cost, and since then, it’s been wonderful. My rings look brand new and no irritation.
I wish I could remember the lovely lady’s name who helped me. She is very professional and accomodating, as well as pleasant, which, is sometimes hard to find these days!

so… I have this ring… my family gave it to me as a surprise for my graduation. A green citrine ring in white gold. It was made by the MSD team and I absolutely LOVE it. Seriously every time I wear it, I get lots of compliments everywhere I go. Just yesterday, one of my classmates said she had a dream about my ring, THAT’s how much she loves it.
MSD never disappoints, and I know this is belated, but I’m so thankful to have something so beautiful. THANK YOU MSD!
