I hate that I’m the first one writing a poor review for this business. This review is for Mikayla Staton. I recently moved to North Carolina about half a year ago and I was in the market for a new hair stylist in May. I am very particular about who does my hair because I’ve been seeing the same stylist for the last 5 years(who is amazing, I might add). Needless to say, this has been an incredibly strenuous process trying to find a local stylist, someone to replace my dearly beloved. Anyways, I came across Mikayla on Instagram and I was impressed by her work. When I texted her, she was quick to respond and her prices were cheap, which I understand why now. And at the time, she had an Olaplex promotion going on, so I went ahead and booked an appointment. Oh man, were her Instagram pictures DECEIVING. I showed up to my appointment late and she was kind enough to wait for me. But when I had finally arrived, I wasn’t impressed with her room. It was very basic and there wasn’t much work done to it, as if she just moved in earlier on in the week. It didn’t have the«salon feel» that I was expecting. As women, we go to a salon to feel pampered and I just didn’t feel the sense that I could be pampered in a hole in the wall room. And on top of that, I was the only client in the whole building! There wasn’t any background music playing, so it was pretty awkward with me being in a room with a complete stranger. But she did try to make me feel comfortable by socializing with me a lot so I do appreciate the effort. The main reason why this review and star rating is so poor is because of the final outcome of my hair. When she removed the plastic wrap for me hair(which was so weird, I’ve only had foil put into my hair before), my hair looked SO orange. But then I calmed down and remembered she still had to tone my hair. She proceeds to tone my hair but it still did NOT help. My hair looked completely butchered by the time she finished blow drying it. There was patches of my natural hair color and the new processed color everywhere. It was not blended at all. It looked absolutely horrible. Needless to say, I was very upset. When I got home, I texted Mikayla and told her how I was completely dissatisfied with my hair. I send her pictures and then she admits that it «needed more blending without a doubt,» and she asked when I could come in again. We schedule for me to come in the following day, and she did do a decent job of fixing my hair. However, a month later(now), my hair became brassier quicker than it ever has before. I’ve been blonde for the last 4 years and I do a really job maintaining it. Since nothing has changed in my routine, I do believe that the reason why my hair became brassier quicker was because of how my hair was processed by Mikayla. The only reason why she got 2 stars is because she owned up to her mistake and attempted to fix it. Aside from that, it would definitely be 1 star. But what confuses the hell out of me is how did she let me walk out of her salon knowing that my hair looked brassy and patchy? It was completely obvious that my hair was not quality salon work, yet she let me pay, leave, and go on with my day. And on top of that, she said I should schedule another appointment with her within the next week to have my hair toned again so it’s not as brassy. It was clear to Mikayla(and to ANYONE for the matter) that my hair was messed up the way it was, yet she wanted to try to get more money out of me to schedule another service with her. Ummm, NO. My stylist has always made sure my blonde was never brassy by the time I ever left her salon seat. It’s safe to say that I won’t be returning to her for her services. Save yourself the trouble and look for another stylist.

I have had SOMANY complements on the cut/style from Mikayla Stanton at Farrago! Both she and the shop are so unique! So happy to find someone I can look forward to seeing her regularly! And the shop has so many unique items from local artists! And the location is SO convenient!

I left a super detailed review several months ago but I just wanted to say that the great experience is consistent! Amanda remembered me and my life story along with my style from our one meeting several months ago. She did an amazing job and made absolutely sure I love my new cut. She is also great at translating my «I don’t know what I’m talking about» language taking«can you make this more… more?» with a few hand gestures and making it exactly what I was picturing. Again, Amanda is going to be my hair stylist until she retires!

I’m an out of tower visiting for the holidays. My hair looked terrible and I couldn’t take it anymore. I found this place on Unilocal.I took a. chance and had Alicia cut my hair. She was fantastic. She cut my gross self cut do Into a rock star faux hawk. She didn’t judge me for all the self induced hair problems. She was kind and really listened me. She was so great that my friend with me got a cut, too. I’m very picky with my hair. If you have some hair issues and feel like the hair stylist would be rude… Alicia is warm and understanding. Two enthusiastic rock star thumbs up!

Denise is the only person who has cut my hair for years, and I don’t want to find anyone new, even though we moved ten hours away! I love this place-while I’m waiting I can have a glass of wine and browse the gift shop. My current favorite items are the metal art pieces by Tatum, a local artist. You should certainly check it out! They have a great esthetician, Bonnie, and you can also have nails and massages done here. It’s really one-stop shopping!
