La Quinta Inn & Suites Winston-Salem

As I am laying here in the room I wish someone would have left this review for me to see. This entire hotel has dogs barking their heads off every time the wind blows. I can’t sleep for anything after 13.5 hours of driving. Going to try to cancel my next night and find somewhere else tomorrow. I will post another review on how that goes. Only decent thing is restaurants near by and semi-​clean rooms. Ceilings have water marks with black spots which I’m gonna tell myself isn’t mold! And bathtub is stained blackish in bottom. Room smells muggy and another thing to add to the list it is barely raining here and the tv only works for 5 mins at a time then says channel not available. Hopefully I make it thru the night with an ounce of sleep.

Very nice. I would have enjoyed sitting out front in the morning. They had no chairs or benches. I would have enjoyed sleeping in a lot later. The previous occupant was nice enough to set the alarm for 6am. Very nice breakfast. Since the alarm was for 6 you would think breakfast would start at 6 am also. I liked the waffles. Glad to see a Bible placed by the Gideon’s.

We enjoyed our stay here, but we don’t ask for too much. The room was fairly clean, although the bathroom floor could have been cleaner (dust/​dirt in the corners) and the fridge was pretty dirty. The TV has good picture quality and sound. The bed was decent and AC worked well. We like a fan noise as we sleep, so the sound didn’t bother us. Breakfast was basic– waffles, cereal, bagels, instant oatmeal and grits, hard boiled eggs, yogurt and fresh fruit. I wasn’t expecting a hot breakfast, so I wasn’t disappointed. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. We loved the location as it is surrounded by a couple good restaurants with bars, gas station, cvs and a Starbucks just down the street. It was great for a quick weekend stay for a conference in town. Would stay at again.

Generally I have a good experience here. But, last night I did not inspect the whole room and found this morning hair in the shower. I was totally disgusted. It makes me question the cleanliness of the rest of the room.

Very few rooms have working Air Conditioning. They are all outdated window units that growl so loud you can’t have a phone conversation. The only reason I am giving this place 2 stars instead of 1 is because at least the maintenance guys tried their very best to fix it but even they said the units are just too old and only once the hotel updates the AC system will it be better. Glad I had a fan in my car and could put it in the window. But room was still very stuffy. The lady at the front desk said I was being too sensitive. All the front desk workers here look like they were recently released from prison. They chain smoke all day and could care less. It wasn’t until the maintenance guys told the front desk that my AC unit was shot that they believed I had a problem and tried to put me in some other rooms but all those rooms had the same problem.
Also, the 1^st floor of this hotel is nothing but a DOG POUND. Loud barking all night. This is a great place to stay if you are a trashy smoker with dogs.
Glad I only paid $ 45 for this place through Priceline’s name your price. But it wasn’t really even worth that much. The pool was nice.

We stayed there last night and it was o.k., but that’s all. The positives: our room was very clean & quiet, and the front-​desk clerk when we checked in was pleasant. The negatives: they’re really cheap with amenities (just shampoo & soap in the room [i.e.; no cream rinse or lotion, for example — unlike all of the other hotels we’ve stayed at during this vacation, including another La Quinta]) and the free breakfast was *pathetic* (one type of [miniature] muffin, one type of bagel & bread, instant grits & oatmeal and [*green*] bananas. Also, the coffee was barely palatable).

Was put up here for an event by our local office. Good choice from a cost standpoint but that’s about it. Only other positive note is room size, certainly large enough to accommodate a family.
Very dated décor, and did not come across as a well kept up property. Visible mold in the tub area and floors did not appear to be cleaned and vacuumed. The biggest complaint by far is NOISE this is simply just a loud place. The doors slamming, echoes in the hallway, plumbing from adjacent rooms above and below. The in room HVAC sounds like a ton of bricks falling every time it turns on.
If this is representative of LaQuinta, I will pass!

Good and clean Hotel with friendly staff!
Rooms a compareable large and offer an office table, couch and in my case a great queensize bed. Rate is always Including a complimentary breakfeast. I prefer the upper levels, as downstairs the noise is high and dogs are allowed on ground floor.
Pool is available as well, but only opened from May til autum.
Gym is having basic workout machines in bad maintenance condition.
Good restaruants are in walking distance.

Room smells like smoke, and they won’t move us anywhere without a price increase. So much for southern hospitality.

There are two things keeping me from giving this La Quinta Inn a 5 star rating.
On the plus side, the folks working here have all been friendly and helpful; the hotel is clean; our room is very nice and feels almost spacious; the beds are comfortable; they are dog-​friendly; the price is right; it is pretty quiet; and the flat screen television gets all the cable channels you’d expect.
On the down side, the free breakfast left me a bit disappointed and the free WiFi proves that you truly do «get what you pay for.»
The days we stayed here, the breakfast let us pick from cook-​you-​own waffles, cold cereal, breads, bagels, muffins, packages of instant oatmeal, sealed packages of hard boiled eggs, bananas, and yogurt. At hotels of this size, I’ve come to anticipate the breakfast will include hot eggs, hot sausage or bacon, and maybe even some biscuits and gravy.
My slight disappointment with the breakfast wouldn’t have kept me from giving 5 stars, but combined with the abysmal Internet speed, 4 stars is as high as I go. For the «computer-​geekish» crowd, I anticipate a hotel to provide WiFi with download speeds of at least 6 Mbps and upload speeds over 3 Mbps. The fastest I was able to measure over our 3 day stay was 1.14 Mbps down and 0.24 Mbps up.
The folks at the front desk were apologetic about the slow Internet speed, mentioned they’d had several other complaints about it, and were happy to call their Internet folks to have the system reset. Unfortunately, it didn’t help and the Internet was slow as molasses throughout our entire stay.
The big question, though, is «would I stay here again?» And the answer is a definite «yes.» Friendly staff, clean rooms, comfortable beds, quiet area, pet friendly, and reasonable price more than offset the slight disappointment in the breakfast and having to use a portable WiFi to do anything on the Internet.

It’s a chain, yes. But for being a chain and what I would consider a budget lodging type-​of-​place, I was very impressed with this particular La Quinta, staying there twice during visits to Winston-​Salem.
First off, the price is right. They offer a AAA discount, knocking the rate even lower. Under $ 80/​night for a King bed (sooo comfy-I’ve stayed in 5 star hotels and not had a bed this comfortable), suite-​style room, with fridge/​microwave and free Wi-​Fi. Also included is a no-​charge breakfast which includes some hot items, not just the typical continental-​only.
The hotel itself is spotless and the pool/​hot tub area is inviting. And the staff at La Quinta? SUPER friendly and accommodating! The one issue we had during our second visit was quickly followed-​up by management with an offer for a free stay. The issue was minor, and the offer was not necessary but very much appreciated — totally illustrated their commitment to service!
Pet-​friendly, too, without a deposit or additional fee! They’ve even provided a doggie clean up station outside and a great area to walk your pup.
Within walking distance of a huge 24 hour CVS and a decent restaurant, the Village Tavern.

A month or so ago there was a bad storm and my parents elderly parents were left without power and with tree’s fallen on the lines. I called this location from Chicago and they worked with me to get a room booked for that day, they allowed my parents to bring their pets. I set them up in the suite for 2 days, the power was back on the next day and they then allowed my parents to cancel the second day with no fee’s. Fantastic customer service, and experience for myself and it helped my parents in a bad situation.

I have stayed here numerous times. The price is right! I have a dog and they are pet friendly, with no extra fees. There is a pool and jacuzzi in the back. The place itself is clean and neat and attended by friendly staff. My friend left a cellphone in the room by accident after checkout and we called back and it was still there!
The breakfast is all you can eat in the mornings. You can make your own waffles, or have cereal, eggs, toast, bagels, muffins, etc. The beds are really comfy and the tub is huge enough to relax in.
There is free Wi-​Fi in the room and downstairs at a computer desk/​terminal set up for guests. The area is safe enough to take a jog at night or run down the hill to the 24-​hour CVS for something you may have forgotten. There are restaurants nearby and a shopping area.
There have been conferences and wedding receptions at various times. It’s never been overrun or too noisy. Overall, it’s great for a good night’s sleep and breakfast, if you don’t feel like leaving the hotel right away!

This is a nice hotel for the price.
When searching through the other hotels we found that this one was the cheapest. I am sure that there are other cheaper hotels, but I prefer to stick with chain hotels.
The hotel may have used to be a microtel of some sort, the layout of the room seems to have come from them. Large bathroom, somewhat dated but clean. The hotel is VERY pet friendly, which is a good thing since we were in town for a dog show. The carpet is a little dirty, but nothing excessive. The T.V. was the most dissapointing part of the room it was old and would buzz when white was on the screen.
There are lots of restaurants (2 in the parking lot), and a mall nearby.
Overall I would stay here again as long as the price is good.
