Three of us had a great meal here tonight. The owner came and talked with us some and was very friendly. The Massaman curry with chicken and rice medium hot was superb. My son had the Panang seafood curry with rice medium hot and loved it. My wife had the beef salad special and said it was delicious. We had an appetizer of som tum — great! All in all we enjoyed our meals and will definitely come back again.

Fresh basil spring rolls, green curry, and special crispy duck with vegetables were all delicious and seasoned perfectly. This may be our new favorite Thai restaurant in Winston… an undiscovered secret! Jenny was the only waitress but handled all the tables without a problem.

Service is slow-ish, but if you can go in expecting that, you’ll enjoy a very nice meal. Jenny is awesome and will answer all of your questions. Great for family and dates. We have been multiple times and food is consistently good. Soups are yum, curries authentic, and wine list not too bad. Surprised it’s not more crowded. Very chill, very good.

Love their Thai iced tea, although it’s mostly ice. Service can be slow at times if you dine there, but I typically just order take out and it’s always ready by the estimated time given. I like the spicy noodles– definitely super spicy but delicious. The curry dishes usually come with additional vegetables that aren’t listed in the description on the menu so if you’re picky about vegetables be sure to specify which ones you want. Also, it’s advertised that they have a full bar, but when I ordered from the bar menu I was told they only served liquor on weekends, during the week they only serve beer and wine. Overall, it’s a nice quiet atmosphere and the food is good, nothing exceptional though.

A little bit of a no frills place in a strip mall. Décor and ambiance is average at best but the food is delicious. Try: Steamed Dumplings with sweet Soy sauce, spring rolls and the red curry is off the hook! Be careful. They go by a more traditional Thai heat scale. If you ask for 3 stars it will be like 5 stars at most other places and can melt your face down! 2 is like a 4 everywhere else here. I have now come in here at least 3 – 4 times. I checked some of the other reviews and they’re pretty accurate however the pictures on most of them are not the same place that I went to. A couple of reviewers showed pictures that looked really nice. This place is like a banquet hall with cheap tables and cheap chairs but good food. I went there in December of 2015.

I was in the Winston-Salem area and had a hankering for Thai food. I decided to drop by the nearest Thai restaurant for some take out on my way home. Thai Sawatdee offers great lunch specials from 11am-3pm. Lunch entrees include 2 vegetable spring rolls and a small salad with peanut dressing for around $ 7.95. This is an incredible deal considering the portion size you get for the price. On this visit, I ordered chicken pad see ew, chicken pineapple fried rice, and a Thai iced tea. Everything tasted amazing! The pad see ew and pineapple fried rice were perfectly seasoned and had many large, tender pieces of chicken. Their Thai iced tea is definitely one of the best I’ve had in the Triad! It wasn’t overly sweet or bland like how some places can be. Also, the food traveled remarkably well since I had a 35 minute drive home and still tasted phenomenal. Worth a mention for those who are considering ordering take out. The restaurant had several large windows on each wall that allowed a lot of natural light to come in. There are pendant lights hanging from the ceiling, comfy booths, and minimal decorations on the wall. It has an elegant and intimate ambiance. This is a great spot for a romantic date. The staff was friendly and wait time for my take out was under 15 minutes. Thai Sawatdee is now a contender for my favorite Thai restaurant in the Triad. I will definitely eat here again whenever I’m in town. Do your belly a favor and eat here! You won’t leave broke, hungry, or disappointed!

I love Thai food and usually try different Thai restaurants as I travel. This is the best one I have found so far. I got the panang curry and it was fantastic. Everyone in our large party(9) lived what the ordered. We ended up going right back again the next evening The waitress was excellent as well. We will definitely come back when visiting Winston Salem.

Had their lunch special Sesame Chicken. It was quite good and had nice presentation. The lunches also come with two delicious spring rolls and a salad with a great peanut dressing, all for a very reasonable-for-the-quality $ 8.49. Ambiance is nice and service was pleasant and attentive. I will definitely come back and try some of their other dishes. As a lunch worker I really appreciate the free WiFi as well.

Their green curry is the best I’ve ever had, and I try it at every Thai restaurant I go to. I order it very hot and it never fails to satisfy my heat craving. The to-go portions are great. I’m going to have it for lunch again today, the stuff is seriously addictive.

Slowest service ever, waited long to have order taken, waited nearly an hour for food to arrive. Green curry was served cold. Really wasted our time and money going there. Nice looking restaurant, but thats about it.

I go back for the Thai iced tea! I live very close, so I find myself stopping to get one to go pretty often. The staff are ALWAYS friendly, especially the hostess and manager/bar tender. I have had the food once, we ordered from the Thai menu, and it was pretty good. I would compare their Thai menu to Chang Thai, although I think Chang Thai tastes a little better, but they are very similar. I haven’t tried their Vietnamese menu yet, but I am anxious to try the Phở. It is nice to have it so close, and I will always choose it over takeout chinese!
