Best Western Potomac Mills

I’m between 3 – 4 stars at this location. I came down for a quick business trip and just looked for a place that was going to be convenient to the location I needed to be but also just the «cheapest/​affordable» in the area.
The location is well located to have the mall and other strip malls and restaurants literally near by, though I will say pulling up to the hotel — it definitely felt like it was «behind» everything. Feeling like it was an after-​thought.
But anyhow, as I was there, walked in to check-​in. I would say it’s not dirty but everything definitely is «older», with a décor that probably was popping back in the 90s and early 2000 depending on when it was built but you could tell the location is older.
Notably, I will have to say the service was good. The people were very friendly and made the check-​in experience just pleasant. Nothing over-​the-​top but definitely let it be a smooth transition.
Now my room was clean, but once again walking in the carpet/​décor just really stood out as «older». Everything worked fine though and I will say I don’t have any major complaints. My one thing I will say is the shower head/​shower needs an updating if we were going to start with. It’s just a personal pet peeve when you’re ready to take a warm/​hot shower and the water pressure and shower head is all messed up to where you’re basically just showering under a broken sink faucet.
The next morning I woke up and went to the breakfast area which when I read reviews, people were raving about. I will say though, I was saying I was just mildly satisfied with that. Though they had the general selection of what you needed, it seemed pretty basic but the pancake machine was broken and out of service — and just seemed there couple have been a few things they could have elevated. It was cafeteria food at best. If I come back to the area will I stay there again? Probably. Depending on the prices… And notably the service was good. But if I can find something around that price range but more updated and newer, I might try another location.
So 3 – 4 star rating leaning more towards 3.

Pros: safe, convenient location, last minute bookings, bedbug cover on the mattress, fridge and microwave.
Cons: water tastes chemically, shampoo smells like Pinesol, conditioner had chunks in it, room smells like Lysol, noisy hallways.
It’s fine in a bind as an overnight driving through, but I wouldn’t stay more than a night if I could help it.

Clean in room and all around lobby and dining room. Really good free breakfast included pancakes, waffles, bacon, sausage, bagels, croissants, cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt, juices, coffee and espresso, etc. Had Keurig in the room so bring your fave kcup. Friendly and efficient counter staff. Comfortable bed with firm mattress. Good wifi speed and easy to get on. No indoor pool, but there is an outdoor pool. Would not hesitate to book there again.

Fast check in, we slept great in the comfortable beds.
Rooms were clean, and the breakfast was one of the best I have ever had staying at a best western before. Definitely recommend

The hotel is a little older but it is clean. All the employees in the front desk are not friendly, especially the female manager. I had checked out and needed to wait for my ride at the lobby and the manager had problems with me staying because I am no longer a guest at the hotel. So much for hotel hospitality! I also observed a couple employees argue at the front desk as other guests waited in the lobby. These people in the reception area need to have hospitality and professionalism training. They are not cut out for their jobs. I will never stay at this hotel again.

Great staff. Great rooms. Really recommend. Breakfast is serious breakfast buffet. Excellent service and accommodation for the price.

The room was clean. The hotel was clean. It was quiet. They had the extra towels and fridge we requested. The carpet was sticky so leave your socks on. The staff was nice and friendly. The finishing touch was the makeup remover wipe they leave with the soap dish. I totally needed one and there it was!
It doesn’t look too great from the outside or from the reviews but it turned out to be perfectly adequate and we had no issue nor complaint. It’s a good deal.

Nice clean room and a friendly staff. Bad, they have taken all of the refrigerators from the rooms. If you want one in your room they only have a limited quantity. So, you have to contact the front desk to obtain one. It’s a little pricy for a best western but, the staff is great.

Nice staff, and clean rooms. It is a little dated, and could use a little update, but still a good hotel. The breakfast buffet was amazing there were far more options then I expected.

A surprisingly nice hotel. Comfortable beds, excellent shower, clean room, good wifi, better-​than-​average breakfast. The AC was one of the models that usually is unsatisfactory, but was working well (with continuous fan) in my room (I’ll try to request the same room again).
Parking lot is beyond dodgy, and, considering the location and size of the hotel, it could easily slip into disrepair. Hopefully, the management will run a tight ship, since I’d like to stay here again. This is unquestionably the best Best Western I’ve stayed at (and *almost* makes me want to stay at other BWs again).
The other Unilocal reviews are all strangely low for this place. Luckily, I looked at the much higher ratings on other sites, like Expedia, before booking. Unilocal is has led me astray a few times, recently!

The place needs a total remodel. It looks pretty shabby and my family did not want to stay there one more night. It is falling apart, feels dark and dirty. The bathroom tiles are breaking and moldy. The carpet smells, the eating area is unappetizing. The place is just a disappointment. The price is right for the area but not for what they are offering. Not recommended to anyone.

If I could give negative stars I would in a heartbeat. My son and I tried checking in at 1030pm with a prepaid reservation that was made two months in advance through Expedia (which was already billed and paid). When we arrived at the hotel I was told they didn’t have me in their system and that they were sold out for part of the duration of my stay and could not accommodate us. Expedia faxed them the confirmation and proof that transaction was reserved and paid however, Imran the front desk clerk was not helpful and did not remedy the situation… we were at the desk for over an hour and a half and eventually left and stayed elsewhere at a much nicer place… Thanks to the help of Expedia!

I booked this room thru priceline thinking I was getting a decent room. I have stayed in many hotels really nice five star hotels and was never asked to pay a 200 deposit. I can see 20, 50, or maybe even 100 but 200 that was four times the amount I was paying for one one night. When I asked why the deposit was so high the man at the front desk became very rude and then stated he wouldn’t honor my reservation. Go to a different hotel. Not worth the hassle and there are nicer places in the area. This happened a few months ago I hope they have updated there policies

The rooms are adequate and the price is right. The breakfast area is one of the bigger ones that I’ve seen for a hotel like this. From the looks of it, they must get a lot of high school and other tour groups. Glad we didn’t have to deal with that on our weekend stay. They have a good variety of breakfast items ranging from waffles and pancakes to omlets and bagles. Some fresh fruit too.
My biggest complaint is with the wireless access in the room. It is 2013, travelers expect fast, reliable wifi in their rooms. Ours was neither. The signal would vary greatly from 100Mbps to 6Mbps. Often within a short period of time. When the wifi would slow down, it made trying to connect to my company nearly impossible and websites were very slow to load. The solution that worked for me when the going got slow was to close the browser, turn off my laptop and re-​start. Imagine how efficient that is!

We stayed at this hotel because we got a Unilocal voucher. But the people at the front desk did not know how to honor the voucher. So we had to pay again. And while it eventually got sorted out with the accountant at the hotel, it required several phone calls and a whole lot of stress. Will not do that again!

If it was possible to give negative stars I would. In town for a wedding and was evicted from the hotel after being told that I or someone from my room, they wouldn’t say, chased a hotel maid naked at some point, they wouldn’t say when, during our stay. Nor did we receive any complaints of any kind during our stay which lasted a total of one day, very little of which was spent at this hellhole. In fact I kindly exchanged towels, fully clothed, twice with the maid service, and they were quite friendly. Being fairly confident that no one in our room completely deviated from their mental capacities snuck out to chase maids naked at any point I can only assume that there is a deviant still lurking in the hotel. They refused to provide any type of evidence and called the cops when we asked for some sort of proof that made a lick of sense. The fine officers of Woodbridge kindly listened in disbelief to these outlandish claims and I’m sure were wondering why what could be considered a real crime wasn’t dealt with until that night. And they provided us with a number of far better lodging options without a hint of concern that we would chase maids around naked. I hope they catch the guy and I hope that this will dissuade you from ever stepping foot in this horrible mess of a business.
