Gaucho Grill

Hard to believe it has been over 4 years since I last ate at Gaucho Grill which it’s official this is the last of the breed in Southern California. I have been in the Woodland Hills area quite a bit of late and thought this sounded good for lunch. I managed to get their early and was ready for a somewhat healthy lunch. They still bring out the complementary Chimichiri (olive oil, parsley and garlic with a hint of spiciness) and bread to take the edge off while you are ordering.
Bright with plenty of natural light and right before the place filled up just before noon on a weekeday.
Chicken Avocado Salad –Grilled Chicken Breast, Mixed Lettuce, Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Black Beans, Corn and fresh Avocado, Spicy Vinaigrette. This is one impressive and flavorful salad to be sure. My only and somewhat of a notable issue is that the lettuce itself is a bit past the freshness point. More wilted and off color than should be allowed given the jubilee of stuff going on with the rest of the salad. That Spicy Vinaigarette is oh so good.
I will go back, will it take four years? Probably not but it has not reached crave worthy status. A decent alternative in the slightly higher than usual for lunch bracket I wish the greens in the salad were on par with all of the goodies on top.

Worst customer service ever. Sat and waited 1.5 hour. Never got our food. They were too busy getting a to-​go order ready. We had a child with us who was very hungry. We ended up walking out of the restaurant. Never going back. Manager did nothing to help. She’s the worst in customer service. Too bad. We have been long time customers…

Horrible service. Ordered at 11:30, it’s 12:21 and no food. However, they have filled MANY to-​go orders. Three year old brother crying for his food because he’s starving. Not coming back. Would give 0 stars if I could. Not so much as a visit to our table.

If I could put a negative star I would. Went there today with my daughter, friend, and 3 year old before the lunch rush at 11:20. The restaurant was empty. We ordered our food and an hour went by and no one came to check on us. No refill on drinks or bread. My son was beyond hungry and so were we. We asked the manager and server to bring some food because my son was anxious. Nothing. I went back to talk to the manager and she was more concerned with a huge take out order they were working on. She said she was gonna check on our food. We waited another 10 minutes and no one came. After an hour and a half, we walked out. I have never received such horrible service. Clearly they don’t care about their customer service. Disappointing considering we used to love that place. We will never return.

I came in for a friend’s birthday and was running a bit late. Website shows they close at 10 and when I arrived at 9:25 they said the kitchen was closed. Awful service. I used to recommend this place but I will never be back here again and I’ll be sure to let others know the awful service they provide.

Last time I came here was back in 2000. I used to work across the street and I would walk here with my co-​workers. The place is still the same, very clean with great servers. I recently met a friend here and we ordered the following.
Salmon Filet ($ 15): Grilled Salmon, topped with Garlic Vinaigrette Sauce, served salad and sautéed veggies. It was very good. I ordered it medium so the fish was tender and flaky. The salad was excellent and the veggies were good too.
I really liked it and missed going here so I will make it a point to go again.

I like this place and have come here for large groups (and gotten a ton of care and attention). Food is super flavorful

This place was on my list of new places to try. After all, they have such a cool sign. The reviews were mixed and I can see why.
Food is very mediocre. It’s supposed to be Argentine food, but it was more like a cheap version of the Cheesecake Factory at an inflated price.
I had a chicken dish and the wife had the kabobs. Totally unremarkable. Service was decent. Prices were more than a little high.
Give the place a shot if you like; I’m one and done with this place.

We used to go to this restaurant and we liked it but currently the service is horrible and the food portions are small.
I recommend you go to Buenos Aires on Corbin in Northridge.

I ordered the skirt steak with mashed potatoes and broccoli, my friend ordered the pollo al carbon with rice and salad, for appetizers we ordered some empanadas… And to drink we ordered Sangria, it was very tasty and refreshing: D

Came in for some lunch on a weekday and thought the place was a little empty although there were some folks around. The restaurant’s interior design seems more geared towards night dining and was rather dark for a sunny afternoon. Our waiter was nice, but as low maintenance customers, I still want the waiter to check on us a few times. He was fast to bring out the bread and oil as well as our food. I ordered a chicken kabob with rice and a salad. The food was delicious but I immediately noticed that the kabob was not cooked correctly. The vegetables and chicken were cooked on the same stick and while it’s convenient to cook it that way, the vegetables have a shorter cook time than chicken does so my tomato was complete mush, and the peppers were a little singed while the chicken was perfectly cooked. Not a big deal, but grilled tomatoes are my favorite thing with kabobs and mine was mushed. Overall, it seems like a nice place but between lighting/​decoration, and the type of food available, I’d probably suggest coming at night to get the best experience.

Had the steak. It was cooked medium rare to perfection. Being from the South of Brazil I know my meat.
Totally recommend if you’re a meat lover.

Yummy yummy. Had a steak avocado salad and it was soooooo good. Also ordered the pizza and pretty good :)
Waiters really nice

How they are still open is the 7^th wonder of the Valley!
Started with wonder bread, moved onto under cooked wings with zero flavor and that was the good part.
The beer was rather good!

Great hospitality… ordered steak and mashed potatoes… at $ 29 was really good but feeling it was overpriced by about 6 $.
Pass on the breaded fish… it’s like one big fish stick.
Sangria was excellent! I would go back but probably try out the less expensive part of the menu. Staff was polite.

This is one of those cases where I wish Unilocal can do half stars, because I give this place 3.5 stars. I am going to round up to 4 stars in this case.
After some back-​to-​school shopping at the mall we didn’t feel like waiting 30 minutes for a table at the Cheescake Factory, which I don’t love anyway and we somehow decided on Gaucho Grill in Woodland Hills. I literally haven’t eaten here in over 20 years, so kudos for its staying power. I will say that I wasn’t totally excited about this decision, but it was 9:30pm, we were feeling like steak, and it was right there.
We walked in and the place was pretty much empty, 3 tables were occupied on a Saturday night, but 9:30 is kind of late for Woodland Hills. As we were escorted to our table, I saw a server carrying a plate with a beef skewer to a table and it looked good. I immediately asked what it was and the host told me it was the Filet Brochette. My wife and I both ordered that and it was actually very good. At $ 16.95 my initial impression was that I wished it had more meat, but that is the pig in me speaking… LOL. It was actually a decent portion and I was definitely satisfied. It was a skewer of beef tenderloin and vegetables (tomato, mushroom, bell peppers) served with rice, grilled zucchini and chopped up tomatoes. I ordered my steak medium rare and it was cooked perfectly for my taste.
We also ordered some Empanadas. The waitress recommended the Jalapeño and Cheese. Normally I wouldn’t have chosen that, but she said it was excellent and not very spicy, so for $ 2.95 we ordered it. It was really good… I will even say that it was excellent. I liked the crust, the cheese was melted, and the jalapeño gave it great flavor. We also had the beef and the chicken Empanadas. Both were good.
The place was empty, so you would expect to receive good service, and that was definitely the case. The service was excellent. Besides our waitress, the guy who was bringing out the food was very professional and personable. I don’t think he was a runner. It seemed like we had two servers waiting on us. In any case the service was great.
The ambiance is pretty good… it is dark inside with like a burgundy wall color, a big bar and some TVs showing sports. I think the darkness hides the age of the room, which is fine. It has a classy enough feel for what it is.
I walked in with little in the way of expectations… and walked out pleased. We only spent $ 55 plus tip, the steak was good quality, and the service was excellent. I will be back.

Came here for lunch on a Monday around 1pm. This place is located in a strip mall, which should mean easy parking. However the same parking lot is used for LA fitness, Nordstrom Rack, Jamba Juice, Men’s Wearhouse, and others – so be forewarned it might take awhile to find a spot.
Onto the dining, the place was not crowded on a Monday afternoon, so that was nice.
They brought out some bread and chimichurri sauce, which was not worth the calories. The chimichurri could use more garlic, salt, and flavor in general. The bread is not worth the carbs.
I ordered a ham and cheese Empanada ($ 2.95) to start. The crispness and flavor were very good – glad I chose that.
My entrée was the crispy chicken Alfredo lunch ($ 11.95). This is cut up breaded chicken served over a bed of fettuccine in a creamy Alfredo sauce. The taste was nice – cheesy, garlicky, but I added a little more salt to bring out the flavor. Pretty standard fare, but it what I was craving.
The host and waitstaff here were great. Friendly and attentive. Ambience is a cross between casual restaurant and bar.
I would come back to take advantage of their happy hour menu (Mon-​Fri 3−6pm)

This place is good for a decent lunch. It’s better than fast food and not quite fine dining but it’s filling and better than a burger.
This is what we ordered during our last visit:
Passion Iced Tea — I love when places have passion iced teas. It makes NOT using sugar much easier.
New York Steak Al Ajo — 10 oz Grilled New York steak, topped with sauteed onions and garlic. Served with Mashed Potatoes and Green Beans. Pretty good when they cook it right. Once it was over done. Second time it was perfect.
New Yor Steak Costilla Portobello — 10 oz Grilled New York steak, topped with sautéed Portobello mushrooms on Garlic and Sauvignon. Served with Mashed Potatoes and Grilled Zucchini. My friend loved the mushrooms. Me… not so much… I don’t like mushrooms.
Flan con Dulce de Leche — A classic Argentinean treat, homemade Custard Cake topped with homemade Dulce de Leche. Flan was good. Not super heavy and sweet enough to finish my meal off.
Parking can get tough if you don’t like to walk. You battle with Pizza Rev, Jamba Juice and Chipotle in the same building. If you don’t mind a little walk, parking is not a problem.
