History
Established in 1977.
Fallon Health was one of the first federally qualified HMOs in central Massachusetts, the first state contract to cover Medicaid recipients, and one of the first HMOs in the country to receive a special contract for Medicare recipients through the U.S. Health Care Financing Administration (now called the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services). In 1994, we began developing a Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), which we now call Summit ElderCare®. We were also the first HMO in state to receive accreditation from National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)*.
