A local concert landed me in Worcester the night before Halloween. We decided to stop by a local Subway for a quick meal before the show. Intro: Subway is a fast food chain that prides itself on healthy and fresh fast food alternatives at a decent price with all their breads baked on site, vegetables sliced fresh, and a number of combos and foot long subs available for $ 6 or less. Food: Subway’s menu is typically plentiful with a large variety of choices for your bread, cheese, meats, and vegetables. Unfortunately, for this location, those choices were severely hindered by poor management. Our usual 7 bread choices were cut down to 3(white, wheat, or honey oat) because they ran out of bread due to «a large rush we got earlier». Now, I understand that rushes can be a problem and I would have cut so slack on the situation, however, a very important point made me decide otherwise. Subway bakes their bread on-site but for some reason, they didn’t have their ovens running. Time wasn’t an issue either… they had 3 hours left to close. From previously working at Subway, I know it takes 80 minutes to bake bread(15 minutes to heat the ovens, 50 to proof the bread, and 15 to bake the bread). Even if the rush just ended… they had no indication that they were even going to attempt to restock(which should have been initiated earlier… at least turn on the ovens). Furthermore, their cheese and cookie selection was also reduce because of poor management and uncaring staff. As for the actual food, it was prepared well and tasted great(a veggie patty sub, toasted)… at least for my fifth choice in breads. Service: Bad. They just didn’t care and were totally disorganized. When we requested the key to the bathroom, they stated that they lost it… helpful. When we pressed the issue a little(a member of my party was in urgent need), they finally told us that the lock was nearly broken and one just has to «give the door a good shove» to get in. Every time we mentioned something concerning their organization or lack of selection, they just simply blamed it on the rush. Cleanliness: The restaurant was decently clean, however, the floors we wet from a recent moping and the mop/bucket was left out. The bathrooms were kept up with and didn’t stink. Atmosphere: Not much happening here. Grab your food and pick your own table. The dining area had a TV in the corner(set low) and no music was playing. Price: $ 5.45 was my bill(at the time of this writing) before tax for a six inch flat bread sandwich and a cookie which is not bad considering they are similarly priced versus other sub shops. I will say that the restrictions I had in ordering definitely downgraded the value. Overall: This was a terrible visit. If this was my first time at a Subway, I would’ve never went back. I will say, I am not going to this location again and I advise anyone who is not looking for just a plain meatball sub on white(to-go) to avoid it as well. FINALTALLIES Food: 2⁄8(even though the food was good, I couldn’t get what I wanted… not even close) Service: 0⁄4 Cleanliness: 3.5÷4 Atmosphere: 1.5÷2 Price: ½ Total: 8⁄20 — 2 stars

The owners are rude and severly lack customer service skills. I have witnessed, on too many occasions, instances where they have refused accept valid coupons, subway cards and to let customers use the restroom. It is in downtown Worcester and understand that there are rules in place(for good reason) regarding bathroom use, however when a woman has waited in line for 10 minutes for a sandwich and needs to use the restroom, I think an exception can be made. I will not be returning to this subway location.
