I cannot say enough good things about this place. Arrived in extreme pain on a very busy day and rather than act like I didn’t exist they got me comfortable, got me see and I had surgery all within a 24 hour period. The care afterwards was genuine and top notch. I’d give UMASS Medical 10 stars if Unilocal let me. Some of the most skilled and best doctors in the world are right here World class and a jewel in the city’s crown. Feel comfortable if you or a family member are here they are under the best care anywhere.

This review is for EVERYBODY in, or related to, this department: the folks I’ve talked to on the phone, the desk staff, the medical providers, and especially Dr. Pilitsis, who I have been seeing. After going through the wringer with the staff at MGH, trying to talk to someone, book an appointment, or seeing my test results; I threw in the towel, in disgust. Given that Dawn had a great experience here, I called them up. They got me in quickly, and Dr. Pilitsis showed me my scans and Xrays. I found out that I had split my C1 vertebrae(news to me, 10 weeks after my accident!), and she sat and talked to me, and had me feeling WAY better in no time. Follow ups, were the same. Kind and caring, easy to deal with, great follow up; all the way. Today, I was on the phone with various folks, getting questions answered, info dispersed, and appointments scheduled. Everyone was so helpful, and pleasant! I must especially note staff member Barbara Jean, who even though the hospital has an automated answering service, takes the time to personally call folks about impending appointments. Seriously, she does this. It has been the exact opposite, to my experience at MGH. All I got there was rude, unhelpful, and unreturned phone calls. All I got from the Doctors was, «Are you dizzy? Squeeze my fingers.» That was a specialist visit. I was on Morphine and Dilaudid, at the time. Of course I was dizzy! Seriously. No Kidding. This was in the Trauma Ward, too. Getting through a major injury requires a little more than Medical Care; it requires taking care of people. This department does that beautifully.
