I had to sit through having beer that was spilt all over me by the waitress. The service in general was horrendous, the food lacked flavor and the garlic bread tasted old. I would not recommend this place. I thought it had to be good because it has been here for literal decades but I’m pretty unsure as to how they are still in business. The food is way too expensive for what they are giving you.

Good, not great, Italian. Pasta and sauce is ok. Pizza is good. Chicken and veal parm are solid. Family portions are better deal than individual meals. Wedges decent. Friendly service. Convenient for us, but prob wouldn’t go out of way for it.

This establishment has been a beacon on Central Ave since forever and since the last time I ate there was in 1990, I figured to bring my family so they can experience it. Overall, it was just fine. Nothing extravagant but nothing terrible. Service was nice but nothing blew us away. I would recommend if asked.

I have been to this place for many, many years and the food is usually good but what happened today is unacceptable and unforgivable. After being seated for about 10 minutes without anybody coming to our table, we asked a server who was helping a table that sat after us «are we going to be helped?», she literally told me «sir relax, you were just sat». I couldn’t believe what I heard, so we just got up and left the restaurant & I will never set foot in there again.

The worst pizza restaurant ever… We’ve been going Pizza Beat for the past 2 years and it used to be our favorite pizza spot in Westchester. We haven’t been to the restaurant for a couple of months but decided to come back last night to a new set of menu with higher prices. But I didnt mind the higher prices because we thought the pizza was gonna be solid as usual. We ordered The Stinger specialty pizza and added bacon as extra. On the top part of the menu for regular pie with the list of toppings, bacon was $ 5. But on specialty pizza section(where we were ordering from), it says ‘Any additional topping for $ 3′. So we asked our waitress exactly how much extra bacon would be. However, she herself was confused because the menu was so ambiguous. So she went to ask her boss, the owner. During the middle of this confusion, we overheard one of the waitresses make a rude comment. She said«why is she even asking that» and gave us a dirty look, rolling her eyes at me.(Turned out she was the wife of the owner). We were only seated 2 tables away from the kitchen where they were talking and it was loud enough for us to hear it. When the owner finally came to our table he gave us a response like he was annoyed and it still wasn’t clear. In which restaurant is it against the law for the customer to ask a question? And it seemed like he just made up the price on the spot just to get an extra 2 dollars. He said any topping not on the menu would be $ 3. So if I wanted lamb chop on my pizza it would be $ 3? We were so close to getting up and leaving but we decided to give the benefit of the doubt for the sake of having good pizza. But we were so wrong about that. The stinger pizza was suppose to have green peppers, onions, and garlic with our 5 dollar bacon. But the only thing we could taste was the garlic. It was just way to much and it was not spread out evenly. They just threw it on the pizza in chunks. And our bacon was no where to be seen. They were so stingy on it. Even after we tried to scrape off the garlic, it was still too garlicky. It masked the taste of the pizza and it was overbearing. We ordered a large pie and was only able to eat one slice each. The rest of the night all we could taste was the garlic. Overall, I would say it was the worst pizza ever with the worst customer service. It’s unfortunate we lost our favorite pizza spot but I would never come back here: It’s not bc of the extra 2 dollars but bc of the atrocious customer service we received. It’s just principal.

Within this year Pizza Beat was sold & new owners took over and made changes to the food quality, serving portions and prices. Been here number of times during the year since 1980’s and the quality of the food was always great, portions were perfect size for the price. The food now isn’t as tasty, portions are smaller and the prices are higher, and service wasn’t as good as with previous owner. In last 2 weeks had hot antipasto, shrimp parmigiana, chicken parmigiana, & pizza to name a few of the items. Hot antipasto wasn’t as tasty and smaller also the sauce on shrimp & chicken parmigiana wasn’t as flavorful as the previous owners sauce, this sauce was bland. The pizza was the worst in taste and dry, ordered extra toppings to cover entire pizza & only put small amount on the middle of pizza when we paid extra for this. Very disappointed this has been a great place to go and eat since the 80’s for me. We will now go out to other Italian restaurants that have better sauce, food, prices and service.

Whenever i’m in the mood for straightforward, consistently good traditional New York Italian fare Pizza Beat is one of my favorite local spots. The chicken and eggplant combo with spaghetti is my normal favorite. We normally split a mini plain pizza as an appetizer. I’ve also gotten a couple parties catered from them with no problems.

Let me start by saying that Pizza Beat is not fancy, its a casual Italian restaurant. It’s not expensive. if you’re looking for something fancy there are better places to go. I have been coming here for years so I know exactly what to order and what to stay away from. The décor in this place is plain but not old. It is very casual and meant for families. My biggest pet peeve with Pizza Beat is that they cook your food to fast. When my boyfriend and I go we need to tell them every single time to wait until we are done eating our appetizers before they cook our entrees. They always listen so I would recommend doing that or you will feel rushed with your food. The mussels and calamari are extremely tasty. I recommend trying them. The staff is on and off with their attitude. The manager isn’t as friendly as he could be. I saw a lot of people posting that and I agree. Some servers are nicer than others. For the entrees the raviolis, chicken parm and pasta dishes are good. Stay away from their shrimp dishes. Not always cooked well. Definitely has its ups and downs but i personally go because I have learned what I like from there and what I don’t. They have big food portions. the dessert’s aren’t so good though.

On a slow Saturday evening with no line, I would have thought a greeting may start the mood off positively. It seems that this business focuses more attention to the regular customers than new visitors. I cringed at the sight of a dirty plate with a peeled off piece of butter label. The food was okay and the portions were larger than most. Too bad the chocolate cake was dried up and seemed to taste better with vanilla ice cream to sop up. I was surprised how generous they were with the broccoli in my spaghetti. I really like that. It was nice to know I’d be having leftovers worth taking home.

You get what you pay for. Cheap«Italian» food served to cheap people. Im straight guinea so I know what real Italian cuisine is supposed to be like and I still come to Pizza Beat. When you just want a good hero or some pasta with some Pizza or whatever, this place hits the spot. Inexpensive, good service, tasty and F’INGCHEAP! The owner is a nice guy too. I have been coming here since like ’93. Props to the Spanish cat I get who is always my waiter, your a good man! If you go in here expecting fine trattoria than gtfo and stop posting bad reviews, PIzza Beat rules.

What can I say. Just horrible, horrible, and did I fail to mention, horrible. This review is from months and months ago. Went there for week 1. Had a discount coupon and used it for a family meal. Meal was decent. Had linguine and clam sauce. Clams tasted like they came from a can. Pasta was cooked properly. Went back a week later and had another family meal. It was decent. Went for a third time. It was good, but not great. So why only 1 star you might ask? Well, on our 4th trip here we had planned to order the family meal. The family meal comes with a choice of coffee or tea. Yet, even though it’s advertised as a «family style» meal they do not offer soda for either children or adults or don’t drink one of the hot beverage choices. By the way, the menu price for soda is the same as for coffee or tea, $ 2 for a cup. During prior visits the waiter easily substituted soda for coffee/tea even though the menu says no substitutions. This time the waiter refused. We asked to speak to the owner. The owner came over and before we could discuss anything he yelled at us, «get out of here you cheap bastards.» He followed this up by repeating this once, even louder. What was our crime. Asking for a soda substitution? Well, given soda and coffee/tea is the same price this should not be a big deal. In fact they advertise it as «family style.» So I guess the owner wants coffee to be served to children. We realized what our crime was, we had used the discount coupon a few weeks earlier and he was most likely pissed about it. But, the website that sold the discount coupon indicated that one can purchase up to 5 to be used at this location. I think its time for this owner to sell the restaurant to a someone who is customer friendly and who will remodel this establishment to bring it into the 21st century. By the way, if you do go to this restaurant and use the bathroom I recommend you don’t look up at the ceiling and view the light fixture.

I called to order penne vodka. They had two sizes. I asked how big the larger dinner was. Guy on phone said«bigger then lunch size». I inquired if it was in a 9″ tray typical of most restaurants but he wouldnt give me an answer. I figured for $ 16 it would be alot of food. I get there food is on desk where you pay. I lift it up and ask if everythings in bag and older guys gets nasty with me, like how dare i question him. Women comes over feels bag says it does feel light and opens it up and its all there she says. Get back to my job open it up and its a 9″ tray with just enough penne to cover the bottom of tray and some sauce covering center section of penne. Add that the Penne was either overcooked or reheated and sauce had no flavor. Bad attitudes, bad food. Was hoping for good food since i work right across the street…

This place is my favorite Italian Restaurant on Central Avenue in Yonkers. The service is decent depending on which waiter or waitress you get. I’ve had very good service there and some of the worst service at the same restaurant. But the food is always good. My suggestion is — go during the week when they are less crowded and maybe the service will be better.

Yes, I love this place. Straight out of the 70s and 80s, before playing card portions and dishes finished with lobster foam and truffle breath. Delicious red sauce Italian. No pretense. Wonderful thin crust pizza. The ricotta in manicotti creamy and gooey, nice gravy. Good calzone, pastas, and eggplant rollatine. Lunch specials are terrific. Bread, soup, salad and entrée ten or eleven bucks. Everything is good. The ambience? Please never change. It is what is supposed to be. Italian posters. The food porn channel, I mean Food Network on the flat screen. Tables for big groups. Booths. The music is great. It is a Pizza Beat medley of Volare, that’s Amore, o sole mio, funiculi funicula, Rat Pack and Nessun Dorma in the same hour. If you don’t know what Nessun Dorma is, get with the program. Mother likes it, you should like it. Delicious food, relaxing ambience, music that takes you back to better times in this city. Not that many of these places left, so please enjoy what is real.

Worst meal I’ve had In a while. Place was empty and that’s always a tell sign. It looked like an outdated spacious diner. Sat a table of 9 and one table wasn’t even the same height as the rest. Service was below average from the server who messed up my beer & salad … Twice. I’m not a stickler but it’s not that you’re so busy and you forgot, it came across as careless. The busboy was more attentive and helpful than him. My penne a la vodka tasted worst than chef boyadee. No presentation, no salt, no home cooking. On top of that … A nice hair in it. Sent it back and got a fresh one but lost my appetite. Calamari app was tasteless with soupy greasy marinara sauce probably from a can. Chicken Parmesan: thickly breaded & dried out. Spaghetti & meatballs no real Italian flavor, I can make better at home with questionable«handmade» meatballs. Later went home to doctor it and way EXTREMELY better. Lasagna the only mediocre thing here but noodles were too over cooked. Id rather go to the UNOs across the street.

This is one of Unilocaler Ben Y.‘s favorite places to chow down, especially on their individual pizzas. He takes me here often whenever I’m in the area, and it is always a swell time. He gets a plain individual pie and I used to get that too, until I recently ventured to try the meatball topping on mine. Amazing decision! The meatballs were homemade and totally complimented the great taste of the pizza. The customer service here is great! Ben Y. is a regular(outside of the Unilocal term to be «a regular») at Pizza Beat, so the waiters know him. They always seat us promptly and know to bring over big glasses of water(he’s a big water drinker). They know what he gets and come to take my order, and soon enough our pizza is before us. Water refills come often. I love the Pizza Beat experience. Really great food, nice people, and a nice guy to have a pizza with.
